A Great place to be. Even the Rabbits Love it.

This was our first visit to New England Bay Caravan Club Site and in order to reach this site we have had to travel in excess of 400 miles from our home address. Was it worth it? Without any hesitation the answer has to be YES!!! The site is located close to the beach and it is impossible to not use it. The site is fairly large with spacious pitches and when we were there (Early September 2016) there was plenty of room for all. It appeared that a lot of thought had gone into creating the layout of this site and unlike several other sites we have visited, we felt that the units were not crammed in next to each other. The Wardens were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to keep everything nice. It appeared to us that all the rabbits in the world had also gone to this site for their holidays and whilst they are a pleasure to watch, especially the jet black rabbit, they unfortunately leave their calling cards all over the site. No matter how hard one tries it is impossible to avoid standing on their deposits. The real downside to this is that when the happy camper journeys from Caravan to Shower block, everything which has affixed itself to the soles of the shoes ends up being carried into the shower block and spreads all over the floor. A simple solution would be to position a good strong doormat at the entrance to the shower block which would then provide somewhere to wipe your feet before entering, thereby removing the “evidence” and preventing it from being taken into the shower block. Notwithstanding all that, the site is a real Gem and one that we would not hesitate to go back to again.

First Time New England Bay

This site was great for us as the Wife wanted a site with a sea view, Most pitches had a view of the sea some better than others, we had a grass pitch but even with rain it was well drained, the facilities were first class, and the staff very helpful even when the wife decided she did not want to stay the Friday night to see now the van handled 50 mph winds the warden help us to change our booking so we could move inland to the CC site at Borrowdale we still got the rain but the wind was less. Yes there are loads of rabbits but even with our two Cockapoos they were not a problem, and the beach was great for walking off lead. would go back again.

Relaxing at New England Bay

Good site and facilities which I never had to queue for. Its a lovely site for just chilling out in or by you outfit and the beach is lovely (mixture of pebbles and sand) with good views. The coastal path is at either end of the Site. There are lovely walks, some from the Site and some in the area. There are a host of gardens to visit and the countryside and coast just has to be explored. There are lighthouses and cafes to visit and The Mull of Galloway is the most southerly tip of Scotland which in good weather offers views of Cumbria, Isle of Man and Ireland. Dumfries and Galloway is a large area often passed by by people travelling south to England or north further into Scotland - many don't know what they're missing.

Beautiful location

We stayed 11 nights on this wonderful site. We had done research to book a site that suits us (without hard standings!!!) This informal site is perfect and the area is beautiful. Loads of places to visit and Mull of Galloway and Southern Uplands Trials to walk. Unfortunately some of the Mull of Galloway trial around the site needed trimming back so don't expect to walk in shorts. Great to switch off, relax and enjoy in a friendly location. We did not use facilities so dropped a star as we could not guarantee they are 5*.

So peaceful and wonderful beach!

Such a beautiful and peaceful site. Our lab couldn't contain his excitement every morning and late at night for his run on the beach. Lots of rabbits (cute), it was a little windy but we were sheltered from the bushes. The shower block was slightly outdated but it didn't matter. Wardens really friendly. Would definitely recommend.... no wifi was also a blessing.

Would definitely return

We spent 48 hours at this lovely site and were very impressed. Pitches are a good size and shielded by bushes, very clean facilities and a beautiful location, we'd certainly come back - though the excellent weather also helped. We noted a complaint from another recent resident about the overgrown bushes - we thought the natural look was very appropriate to the location. Wonderful view of the stars on a clear night.

Natural Site

Overall a fairly pleasing site but when it is windy, it is very windy (nothing to be done about that though!) Very friendly wardens who had a good local knowledge and were happy to share the same. Although the site is kept quite tidy the wardens were not seen much other than collecting the rubbish etc each morning. Part of the site's beauty is that it is 'natural' but many of the pitches could do with some severe levelling, it is hard to see how anyone could actually pitch on some of them. Rats are quite a problem and we did report it to the wardens - although they did appear a little reluctant to believe us!! Toilet blocks not really large enough for the size of the site, with only 3 showers in each block this is not really enough for a site this size. Although the toilet blocks appeared clean and tidy more attention could be given to under the units in the privacy cubicles. A good overall update needed for both toilet blocks. The site is quite remote but any research will already have shown this, but this is made up for by the beautiful scenery all around this area. A good site for young families who like the beach but not much for older children, our 11 year old was going stir crazy for internet/phone etc. I would return but not with an awning because of the winds and would not take an older child.

Nine Happy Days

Went for a peaceful week and that is what we got. Wall to wall sunshine for 7 our of 9 days which was very lucky. Would visit again without any problem. Wardens were all new at this site and the assistants were much better than "The Warden". He did not have the "oomph" that the assistants had.
