Stupendous scenery

Very well run CAMC site, with a friendly and happy team. So, so peaceful. The occasional tractor, but other than that just birdsong, bleats and moos. Spectacular surrounding scenery with easy or hard walks in every direction. Helped by 19 degrees and sunshine when we were there!

Just Glorious!!

This site must have one of the best backdrops on the network - the scenery is just stunning. The access is very straightforward although The Jacobite Restaurant (mentioned in the site directory directions) appears to have changed its name to The Pitstop at Kintail (for information). Friendly wardens, good sized level pitches plus a mucky boot/mucky dog wash point. If you're a lover of the outdoors, then there is plenty of walking/cycling directly from the site (not sure why a previous reviewer moaned about the lack of a dog walk). If you wish to go further afield, then transport would be required. One wet afternoon we did walk down to the Pitstop for tea and cake but that didn't materialise as no dogs allowed inside. All in all, a great location and we will definitely revisit.

Peaceful stay

I spent nine nights in Sept on this beautiful, well run site by wardens who kept the site immaculately tidy. They were always pleasant and helpful. A fresh fish van visited once per week with delicious produce. I cycled off road on the Affric Kintail trail and visited Skye on three occasions. The weather was glorious, scenery stunning and the site easy to find. I shall return to the area soon.

Great site, really friendly wardens

Stayed here for 4 nights just before site closed. Really lovely wardens gave the site a well loved & cared for feel. Walks aplenty from the site, rubbish weather whilst we were there didn’t deter us. Beautiful views all around. Love to return when next in the area.

A peaceful but busy site that gives so much.

We stopped at Morvich for 8 nights. What a lovely location and setting. The River Croe runs by the side of the campsite and empties into Loch Duich. A nice gentle walk along the lane of about a mile and a half. Although we were there at the end of September / beginning October the weather was OK apart from a couple of days, and simply stunning on a couple of others. The views from the site itself are fantastic with cloud topped mountains on 3 sides. Lots of walking and mountain biking for those who are young enough and those fit enough! We take a gentler approach at our age and prefer to walk, with our dogs, on gentler slopes! Being only 15 miles from the Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye bridge we spent 3 days exploring the Isle of Skye. Went north to Inverness. Hunkered down in the van on the 2 days when the rain and the wind lashed us. A good camera and binoculars will be very handy when you visit this part of the world. We heard the Red stags roaring, a Golden Eagle drifted over the site on 2 separate occasions (noticed by its distinctive cry). Wherever you drive or roam there is outstanding scenery, plenty of places to have a bite to eat. Shops local to the site. Supermarkets on Skye. The site is kept immaculately and the wardens were very helpful. Especially when we had to stay an extra night because of the50+ mph gales and sorted out the booking at our next port of call. All in all we had a fantastic stay at the Morvich site and would recommend it to anyone.

A very special place

We stayed for 8 nights - and it wasn't too long. Clearly if you have done your homework you will know that this site is a little off the beaten track (though easy to get to) and ideally placed for walking and cycling and perfect for dogs. The site is surrounded by mountains and there are several beautiful walks from the site with no need for a car. However if you do have a car there are many places within a short drive that are worth visiting; Plockton, Glenelg and Skye among them. My husband and a friend climbed several Monros close by while we kept to the lower slopes, walking up the local glens which were peaceful and stunning. One morning there was an otter right outside the site entrance while there were several red deer nearby, and we also saw white tailed eagles and porpoises. The wardens were super friendly and cheerful, and the facilities as you would expect from a Club site, This is is very special place and we are so lucky that the Club has a site in this wonderful location. Go for peace, beauty, wildlife, walking and cycling. We had a wonderful stay, and will be back.

More of a one or two night place

We stayed for four nights, which was a bit too long as there is very little to do if you are not in to trecking. It was ultra quiet though and we had few neighbours most nights as it was more frequented by overnight motorhomers. The staff were very pleasant, but the washrooms need a facelift. Showers were not very powerful and the shower block was a little cold. Please can I ask that something is done to improve the dog walking area, it was very dark and unappealing, it also had large amounts of dog faeces not picked up. We only used it once as we don’t want our dogs walking in our caravan with dog mess on their feet. I would suggest cutting back on the tree coverage and putting up multiple signs reminding dog owners to clean up after their dogs.

Great Wardens

Peaceful site which is well situated for touring Skye and the mainland coast. The facilities are a little dated but are very well maintained. Our experience was only marred by a self inflicted problem hitching up to leave, which resulted in damage to our towing electrics and breakaway cable. The warden was fantastic, helping us back onto the site and repairing the damaged socket and cable so that we could continue our journey home. Many thanks!!

Too Brief a Stopover.

A lovely site which unfortunately we were only at for one night the warden was great made us feel at home, we did manage a good walk from the site and went to see Eilean’s Castle the one used in “Highlander” which is spectacular. It was to last but one stop on our 19 night excursion to Scotland. We would love to return to see more of the area and may well do so.

Stunning views and fantastic facilities

This is the best site we’ve been on set in the most stunning scenery and in a truly peaceful location. The wardens are absolutely delightful people who keep the place immaculate and who can’t do enough for their visitors. The facilities are excellent, including a TV/ games room, alongside the washing and drying room options. The walks from the site are breathtaking and there are many lovely places to visit. Absolutely superb in every respect.
