After going round the roundabout 3 times we arrived . After driving around we found perfect pitch found wardens very helpful .only supposed to stay 2nights but stayed 17 nights . Very peaceful apart from kids at weekends . We found scate boards and scooters a problem parents nowhere to be seen and noisey kids very dangerous they were up and down the roads . Pizza run by warden was great also we found showers and toilets always clean the grass was always being cut all in all we enjoyed our stay and will certainly go back . Fish and chip van also nice little shop at reception where you could order your daily papers bus stop short walk outside site entrance .
Splendid Site
Spent 8 nights here so that we could explore Winchester and Portsmouth - ideally situated for both. Site well maintained and clean and tidy. Nothing to do with the running of the site but surprised at the number of vehicles who passed our pitch doing considerably more than 5mph - estimate that vat least a couple heading for exit at 20-30mph. Thought the pizza run (thanks to the warden) and the mobile fish & chip bar were novel touches.
Lovely Site But Needs Updating
This is a lovely site. We only stayed one night after getting off the ferry from France before heading home.
Convenient for Winchester, which is good as we couldn't make up our minds as to whether the pub next door was open.
Toilet/shower blocks could do with updating.
The peace was broken slightly by children on scooters and skateboards, despite there being a sign banning them. But this wasn't a problem to us.
We didn't know about the lack of wifi as mentioned in other reviews. If we had been staying more than one night this would have been a frustration.
Morn Hill
We stayed for about two weeks off and on. Very well run, staff very helpful and accommodating to say nothing of being rather patient with us as new comers to caravanning we had lots of questions. There didn't seem to be very many children on our top section and I didnt notice any play areas hence 3 stars for family. Lack of wifi was a nuisance for us and we also found that the signal strength for internet o2 was extremely variable good enough for email but frustrating for proper work. But it is a top site in just about all other respects and with good access to main roads and motorway.
Dated and tired
The site was well managed and the wardens were friendly and approachable.
The toilet blocks were dated and tired. Toilet and shower cubicles were very small compared to more modern blocks found on other sites.
There is no wifi on site or even 3 G . In today's age it is great to keep on touch with others online and explore the locality on line with a view to visiting etc...
Loved it. Refreshing showers, staff are jolly and helpful.
All round good site.
The showers are very refreshing.
Very nice staff.
I'll be back.
Good site for travelling on to West Country
We have used Morn Hill twice, the first time we were allowed to select our pitch and decided on the lower field which was great. The last visit we were allocated a pitch in the upper field where the traffic noise was unbelievable plus the shower block is limited and more importantly no disabled facilities which my wife generally uses as she need a stick to stay upright. This site doesn't have WiFi or TV hook up but does have a 4g signal in the upper field. If we were to visit again it would need to be the lower field where there are disabled facilities and limited noise, generally crows roosting which is preferable to traffic. Lots to visit in the area and a good bus service to Winchester and Alton so a convenient site to use.
Reasonble but not the best
The wardens make the best out of a limited site. These are not complaints but comments for managers. Compared to other CC sites, the toilet provision is limited, poorly signed and from a child safety view, rather hidden. The area allowed for each pitch less than generous; there are no hard standings (which we accepted when booking) but the provision of these might seem to give a sense of greater spaciousness. Road noise was not as great an issue as others have said, though better description of the tricky entrance off the roundabout would be helpful.
Morn Hill. Winchester.
This is a handy site for us when visiting family in the New Forest.
The Wardens were friendly and helpful on arrival, but they don't tell you which pitches are free so you have to drive around to find one, not as easy as it sounds as the road is very narrow and you will be holding someone up when you reverse on to your chosen pitch, with the site being in two areas this could take some time and you need a barrier key to access the sites.
The pitches are all grass and mostly seem to be flat, we had heavy rain during our stay and there was some puddling and the grass felt soft when putting down the legs.
There is a lovely dog walk on the lower site, which is fully fenced with a pooh bin at either end near the gates.
Toilet blocks were spotlessly clean, the showers hot and powerful. My only niggle is that there is a shower curtain which stuck to you as the cubicle was quite small and no bench to put your things on. We were on pitch No99 and had some road noise from the lane behind us also we could hear the music from the Pub during the evening. To get onto our Pitch we would have found it a lot easier to go the wrong way around the mini roundabout as then the peg would have been in our mirror. Friday night 6pm there is a visiting fish and chip van. There is one water tap and one waste water point next to the recycling bins on the lower site. We will definitely come again.
Lovely spacious site
We stopped for two nights and were apprehensive on arrival having read some of the reviews, however. We were pleasantly surprised. Yes the toilet blocks are small and need updating but they are spotless and serve the purpose . The pitches are well spaced and not in regimented rows. Plenty of room to relax , we were in the lower section , wonderful sunsets . The bus stop is literally 5 mins away good for us Motörhome owners, Winchester is. A short distance about 15 mins. Regular buses throughout the day but Stop around 5.30 but plenty of taxis so not too much of a problem . We didn't know it but it was Winchester hat festival over the weekend , ( a bit like a fringe festival ) loads of street entertainment, fantastic atmosphere. Morn hill for us was a great 2 night stop on our tour.
