The Caravan and Motorhome Club is proud to have pledged its support to The Queen’s Green Canopy which is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Now, more than ever, the initiative will leave a lasting memory in recognition of Queen Elizabeth II’s lifetime of service.

The Club committed to planting 2022 trees in 2022 in support of The Queen’s Green Canopy, across the Club’s network of 160 campsites. The official tree planting season is October to March.

In February 2022, three wild cherry and three silver birch trees were ceremonially planted at Chapel Lane Club Campsite by television presenter, journalist and Club member Matt Allwright, singer, TV presenter and farmer JB Gill, Club Chairman Grenville Chamberlain OBE, Club Director General Nick Lomas and Club Director of Marketing and Membership Service, Harvey Alexander.

The importance of trees was highlighted by the Woodland Trust in their 'State of the UK’s Woods and Trees 2021' report which stated that 'trees are vital for a healthy, happy society'.

The benefit of trees includes helping to curtail climate change, through capturing and storing carbon, reducing pollution, reducing temperature and preventing flooding. A large number of Caravan and Motorhome Club campsites are located near woodland or have woodland walks nearby. Walking through trees and woodland is also a wonderful way to enhance our mood, improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

Carnon Downs Club Campsite

Acquired by the Club in April 2021, Carnon Downs Club Campsite is set in beautiful landscaped grounds, near Truro in Cornwall. The Club campsite will be planting 250 trees, including small-leaved lime, the common beech and the sessile oak tree.

Cayton Village Club Campsite

Having been redeveloped in 2020, Cayton Village Club Campsite in Scarborough, North Yorkshire has gone from strength to strength. In support of the Queen's Green Canopy, the staff will be planting 400 trees, which is in addition to their wildflower planting.

Gift a tree

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a not-for-profit initiative with the aim to raise funds that will go towards planting trees across the nation to benefit our natural wildlife, provide cleaner air, slow the impact of climate change and improve general health and wellbeing. 

Following the sad passing of Her Majesty, the Queen, people can also gift a tree in her memory to honour her many years of service. These trees will be planted in schools and deprived urban areas across London, which means you will be directly contributing to a greener United Kingdom that will benefit future generations.
