Loos and facilities are updated. Nice and clean. Staff are nice. Location is a bit odd. Right next to a really busy dual carriageway. So loud. No where to really walk to for the dogs. Ok if you are going to another place and need a day of rest.
I guess you can't win them all!
The newly refurbished pitches on the lower half of the site and the splendid new facilities blocks are indeed very welcoming as were the staff but I guess we just happened to experience an anomaly on our visit on July 23/24. We were pitched on one of the new fully serviced pitches on the lower level but regrettably they are all sited around an island that houses the sewage system and there was a vent pipe just 20ft from our unit which emitted the smell one would identify as sewage - perhaps we were down wind but as the pitches are arranged around this island, someone would be down-wind.
As mentioned on other reviews, there was some road noise in the day-time, it did quieten down in the evening but on quite a few occasions in the evening and up to 23:00 hrs there were very load crashes from what appears to be a industrial site of some sort at the end of the lane leading past the site.
As the serviced pitches are adjacent to the lower perimeter next to the industrial site it was like being in a railway shunting yard (if I recall from the distant past!).
As we were only staying for two nights there was nothing to be gained by complaining to the managers about things over which they had no control. Perhaps the sewage system was not working as designed? In my view the pitches are sited too close to the plant.
I found the upper site more attractive, but it did not have the fully serviced pitches we now find easier to use.

We nearly cancelled!
After reading earlier reviews and the weather being absolute pants we nearly cancelled. However so pleased that we didn’t. We had a serviced pitch which was a good size. The noise from the road was fine, even when sitting outside. The bus stop to Winchester was a 5 minute walk away and ran every 30 minutes, even on a Sunday. The toilet block was impressive! Happy to come back and recommend.
Friendliest of welcomes!
Such a warm welcome, immediately offered us a larger pitch but the site manager was mortified that it would cost an extra 40p😉, we paid up no qualms.
Great advice about where to eat as the chippy van wasn't due that night.
Despite another review, they're wasn't a weed in sight and the facilities were immaculate.
We were on the road early the next day so cannot comment on the daytime traffic, but the site was very serene and overnight traffic must have been minimal as we never heard a thing.
We think we will have to come back in the future to explore the area properly, but it was a long trek from Scotland to get here. Really handy for the ferry and again good advice given about the time it would take to get there! So glad we listened as there was a couple of accidents on the motorway and we still arrived at the pretty in good time and stress free.
The weeds on the ste and pitches
This is a very new site and has had a lot of money spent on it .UNFORTUNATELY it is not being kept neat and tidy with the ground work .the pitches are covered with weeds and there are thistles and weeds in all the grass
Great overnight stay
Booked an overnight stop on the way back from Peak District . We needed a site near the motorway and that would be easy to pitch and use the facilities.
Staff very friendly and it was quiet and peaceful on the lower area. We have stayed for longer here several times before and it is an excellent site , one of the best !

Dreadful and constant Road noise
Lovely wardens and facilities- fantastic hot showers-BUT, awful road noise that was constant and draining. Interrupted sleep each night and stopped any wish to sit outside in the day. Good location if you want the centre of Winchester, but limited opportunity to walk anywhere ( there is one walk down into Winchester). Returned home sleep deprived and craving peace.

A good first experience of CAMC
I stayed here for 1 night at the end of half term. I chose the site because it was on route to family I was visiting the following morning. On arrival, my first impressions were excellent. Easy access, welcoming staff and immaculate grounds with well spaced pitches. I stayed on pitch 8, hard standing, ehu and no awning. The pitch was a really good size for my micro camper. It backed onto the dog walk and was situated near established trees. There was distant road noise but apart from the odd falling twigs on to the roof of the van the site was peaceful. The lower half was almost fill on the night I stayed but there was ample facilities for everyone. The toilets, showers and washrooms were spotless and lovely hot showers. Bus service to Winchester or Alton is every 30 mins and runs until late. I went into Winchester for £4 return. There isn't much for children on site but locally there is the Watercress line steam railway in Alresford plus a lovely river walk with lots of ducks. Opposite the site is a Science Museum and in Winchester a number of things to see and do. I will definitely return.
Ferry Pitches.
Booked for one night to stop over after ferry crossing from St. Malo to Portsmouth. Received an email a couple of days prior advising of the arrival procedures for before 22:00 and after if arriving late and paid in full before arriving. Arrived just before 22:00 to a friendly welcome and quickly established on a ferry pitch. So far so good!.
Unfortunately the A31 ‘racetrack’ that boarders the upper site provided a constant roar of traffic noise well into the night and from early morning. I realise there is nothing the Club can do to prevent this but members, particularly those seeking a decent night’s sleep before or after a ferry crossing, should be aware of this and perhaps look elsewhere. Rookesbury Park site also has ‘Ferry Pitches’ and from past experience I have found this to be much more peaceful.
Morn Hill has been extensively refurbished in the last year or so to the club’s high standards and is first class……if you’re deaf!
Nice clean site but too much traffic noise
Friendly welcome, level pitch, clean facilities block. Nearby bus every 30 mins to and from Winchester for sightseeing - but - relentless road noise on the upper site all day making it unpleasant to sit out and read/relax. A constant background roar.
