pitch problem

Facilities excellent. Location excellent. Pitches pathetically small, if you have a small awning you can just about get your car on the front of the pitch, goodness knows where you would put your car on the majority of the pitches if you have a full awning. CC has spent money 8 years ago adding 2 new toilet blocks but clearly gave no thought to the pitch sizing. Wardens and ex wardens on another site we spoke to confirmed they had no end of complaints about the pitch sizes.

Still Excellent

Having visited the site several times in the past we found ourselves in the vicinity and couldn't resist a revisit. The site is beautifully kept, with a choice of pitches in the open or in the more wooded areas. The site has a very good play area for children, away from the pitches, and has a petanque court and even crazy golf is available. For dog owners a large open area allows the dogs to run freely and mix with others off lead, which is a major plus. A five minute walk into Moreton provides a wealth of eating places, with hotels and historic pubs, as well as several shops. What is particularly pleasing is that the main street has not been taken over by chain stores and individually owned shops prevail. As usual the site facilities are top-notch and kept sparkling clean. On our visit, in early March, the site wardens were particularly good. Very friendly and helpful at all times. We still regard this as one of our favourite sites, anywhere.

First Time at Moreton

Our first visit to the site and was very impressed. Well laid out pitches over a number of aspects. Moreton has a number of good pubs / hotels which welcome dogs and serve good food. Felt in several pubs our Staffie was more welcome than us ! Great walks from the site to Longborough and Bourton on the Hill. Will be back soon.

Still Brill

We used Moreton as a halfway base for visiting family in Gloucs. The site was very full when we arrived on the Friday, so ended up pitching near the road (A44, some very noisy vehicles). Amazed to see a pizza oven on site on Friday, smelt great. The only drawback was departure day. We had noticed that at least 15 outfits had arrived before 12. We were all packed and ready for the off when 4 motor homes and a caravan pulled in and started siteing near us. That wasn't much of a problem but by the time all 5 had pitched up we had been blocked in and couldn't leave until 12:30. I realise for safety reasons that it's okay to let New arrivals in before 12, but I saw a new arrival at 10am! The book says no arrivals before 12 and online you can't arrive before then. Will go back to Moreton again, just be aware of early arrivals.

Warden Watching

Marvellous site - well placed for town. Whilst there saw a brilliantly coloured Bullfinch in Spring plumage. Also was able to observe a Warden parking his own van - Hope for all of us with a mover to achieve his pin point accuracy - even though it took five attempts. Recommend site to all ages including children.

Excellent site

All the wardens were absolutely charming. The site and facilities were pristine and the visiting grandchilkdren loved the playground which is situated far enough away from caravans for children to be able to shout and run around without annoying anybody. We also liked proximity to town so that we could walk in and enjoy a meal in the evening. Top marks!

Happy again

We had hoped to have stayed for three nights but the site was full on the Saturday night.  We have used this site on a number of occasions as we love the area and it is so convenient with a motorhome to be able to walk in to a town. This trip we visited Upton House and Hidcote and we plan to return during the summer to re-visit Hidcote and Snowshill and spend a while in Chipping Camden which looked worthy of a visit.

Amazing Alan the Warden!

The usual standard of site we expect from the CC, but the Alan the Warden - amazing! As a woman on my own I can usually manage quite well, but this trip I had a blonde phase. On arrival, I found my jockey wheel had been dragging on the ground and was as flat as a pancake. Which meant I couldn't use the motor mover. Cue Alan. Not only did he reverse onto the pitch for me (I really don't do backwards!) but organised a replacement jockey tyre, removed the wheel for me while I was out one day, and fitted the new one for me the next day! Talk about over and above the call of duty. He was absolutely brilliant, and not a bit condescending about it. On top of that, the site is perfectly placed for the racing at Cheltenham. I did hear a bit of road noise, and also vaguely the bird scarers, but unless you are used to living in the middle of nowhere, nothing to disturb the peace and quiet. I had a fab few days, and will definitely be back.

Great site, though a little noisy

Third visit here. Nice large site with welcoming wardens.  Pitches are small but also after rain, a little flooded. Awning not so this time though.  Huge dog walk field, but took our dogs off site for walks as field was too waterlogged. Had nine nights here, never saw any dog mess on site, can't comment on dog field. Moreton is 5 min walk from site entrance. A very appealing cotswold town. So is Stow & Bourton-on-the-water (pretty and very popular). Evesham was great too.  Budgens was close and caters for all food needs.  The Black Bear pub in Morton was nothing special but service and food was absolutely superb. Back to the site. Road noise was intrusive but the constant bird scarers boombing was worse.
