Good short break

Just spent 3 nights here in the first short trip of the year to clear the cobwebs out of the motorhome. We arrived around 7pm Thursday evening and the office was shut. A ring of the bell brought forth a warden very quickly, who just took my card and said pitch where you like and come and see us in the morning. It was dark and raining and with no site map, it was not easy finding our way around or locating an empty pitch, it was pretty full. But we eventually found one and parked up. We had no TV signal at all but there are aerial feeds on all the hookup points, so no problem there so long as you have a coax cable. Many reviews mention the road noise but even though we were fairly near the road, it didn't bother us, we could barely hear it. It wasn't that busy either. Facilities were clean and plentiful and WARM, no fanatical permanent opening of all windows in all weathers like you get at many sites. The dog walk field is large and mown short, but it tapers off to a narrow end where the entrance is, concentrating all the foot traffic in a narrow area, and due to being very wet this was a complete muddy bog. Not much that can be done about it, but having to clean the dog up after every 5 minute pee-break was a bit of a nuisance. But overall, very nice site, very convenient for the village which is only 5 minutes walk away. We will definitely use again for short breaks near to home in the future.

NEC stopover Feb 15

We stayed on this site after visiting the Caravan & Camping Show on the 20 Feb 15. We arrived late afternoon with friends in another camper van and were able to have pitches next to each other (13&14) which are just past the entrance. The site was quite full busy but the washrooms were spotless as was the rest of the site. We walker into Moreton In Marsh in the evening to get food (torch advisable). On Saturday morning we went back into the village and had a look around the shops and cafés. It's defiantly a place we will revisit.

Pitch sizes & access

Site visited in February 2015 for three nights. This is an excellent site for families and older adults, visiting the cotswolds area. Moreton in Marsh has good shops, a choice places to eat and is an interesting place to visit. The wardens are excellent and keep the toilet blocks and other facilities clean and very usable. My only grumble (50+ grumpy old male adult) is the very limited size of most of the hard standing pitches, which are not large enough for a car, caravan and awning, all at the same time. This leaves most people parking where they can, making the already rather narrow roadways quite difficult to drive along solo, let alone while towing, without venturing onto the grass. This may be OK in the summer months, but in wet weather, the grass very quickly becomes chewed up, with mud, grass etc. spread back onto the roads. Please Caravan Club, make the hard standing pitches large enough to accommodate at least a reasonable size car, caravan and awning combination. This must be one of your most popular sites, and it is open all year round, so every member would benefit.

February visit 2015

We stayed for 5 nights at this great site, the facilities are very good, the wardens very friendly and helpful. The location is great with the village a short stroll away which has plenty of good places to eat and enjoy a drink by a log fire, brilliant cheese shop plus other nice individual shops. It's also a good location to visit anywhere in the Cotswolds with ease. We shall return.

Ideal for visiting the Cotswolds

We had a 4 night stay here last week. The only nice day we had was when we went to the caravan show at the NEC. The site is ideal for visiting the Cotswolds. There's a lot of National Trust houses near by and the small towns in the area are well worth a visit. Although the weather was poor we still found plenty to do. Moreton in Marsh is a short walk from the site with lot's of pubs & eating places. We spent a morning wandering around the antiques shops. Well worth a winter visit.

February 2015 winter break

Pleasant welcome from the wardens.  Good site thoughtfully laid out so it doesn't feel hemmed in.  Some pitches are narrow.  This makes it difficult to avoid damaging grass with car tyres and feet especially after frost has melted and the ground is very soft.  I am being very picky because we receive such a generally high standard from "the club" and wardens.  Moreton in Marsh is a lovely town within an easy walk.  Lots of eating places and a Tuesday market, the Batsford arboretum is just up the road, within walking distance for some people, although quite a busy road so not a country lane walk.   The Cotswolds are always a delight and we'll be back as soon as possible.

Great for a long or short stay.

Lovely site, lovely Wardens, Great dog field and nearby walk, Toilets and showers very clean and plenty of room in shower stall. Pitched near road but hardly noticed traffic noise. Two dog friendly pubs one of which served excellent food. There is also a tearoom in town which welcomes well behaved dogs. Town is only five minute walk so great for Motorhomers. We will be back...............

Excellent site, easy walk to shops, pitches well laid out

I loved this site.  Wardens were extremely friendly and helpful.   Great layout with plenty of privacy. Toilet blocks immaculate.  A short walk to the very pretty town of Morton-in-Marsh so very convenient for motorhomers.  Only downside is the farmers bird scarers which sounds like gun fire from quite early in the morning. Having said that I would definitely stay again and now rates as one of my favourite sites.

Excellent site, polite helpful staff.

This site is so well organised, lovely gravel pitches. A large site but pleany of facilities. The site is geared up well for MHs with accessible water point and waste points.  The reception staff were helpfull, polite and very friendly. The reception also sells a few items like newspapers, bacon, milk etc. The site is so close to the main High Street where you have shops and many eating places.

72gun salute

A lovely site where we came for a romantic valentines weekend. We know the area and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately the local Farmer has an explosive bird scarer which starts up between 06:30 and 07:00hrs, once I am awake that is it I have to get up, so there was no relaxing lie in for our stay.
