The site is quite large with two toilet blocks, great standards as expected and delightful wardens. Good level pitches and a mixture of trees and open areas. On this trip (March 2022) of 4 nights there was ongoing ground works and maintenance but this didn’t cause too much trouble. The pitches near the road can be noisy at times but the road is not too busy and is quiet in the evenings and overnight. Easy walk into Moreton with some nice shops (4 charity shops) and lots of eating places.
On day 1 we caught the number 1 bus at 9.28 from the stop across the road (opposite the bus top sign) to Stratford upon Avon. As bus pass users we can’t officially catch a bus until after 9.30 but the driver was happy to put us into the system once the time allowed him to. The bus travels through lots of side villages along the way including Broadway and Chipping Camden (nice coffee and cake at Katie’s in Chipping Camden on the way back). Saw lots of lovely countryside from the bus. We returned on the Number 2 (normally opposite MacDonalds at the lower end of the High Street but currently from opposite the back of M&S) which terminated at Chipping Camden where we enjoyed a wander and tea. We then caught the next Number 2, which took us on to Moreton.
The second day we caught the 8.53 train to Oxford at £25 for two having booked ahead. The station is a 15 minute walk from the site and the train left from the far platform so over the bridge. 30 minutes takes you into Oxford and a ten minute walk takes you to the city centre.
Day 3 was a Saturday so we set off to Cheltenham on the 801 bus from outside the Corn Exchange at 08.10. This takes the route through Stow on the Wold and Boughton on the Water and more lovely scenery. We caught the bus back to Boughton where we had a wander and tea.
A lovely stay and still lots to do so we will certainly return.
Pleasant stay
As previous reviewers said nicely laid out site. But half of it was closed due to on-going work. So was a bit noisy with chainsaws, building work etc at times. Only able to have the older muddy pitches which was a shame. Didn't use facilities but they looked ok (if a bit tired). It did feel a bit closed in and not that private. Road noise was a bit of an issue. Reception staff rather over efficient (although one was training) Probably would return but not in peak times as it will be busy.
Excellent site
A fantastic stay at a great location. I would recommend this site as it’s a very short walk into the town and nice walk to the local arboretum.
The facilities are modern, clean and warm and the site is laid out very well.
We will be back.
Buggy friendly access to Moreston-in-marsh
Wonderful location, with buggy friendly access to Moreston-in-marsh. Good paths to Batsford aboretum. The town is very dog friendly and there is a range of places to try for food and drinks in the evening and for breakfast. There is lots to explore nearby and the locals and businesses are very friendly.
The lady on reception was very helpful, asking if we'd stayed before and suggesting which pitch to go for as we were one of the last ones to arrive. The site is big and well managed with clean facilities and good showers. Cleaning hours were in the afternoon which made a nice change.
Work in progress
Lovely location with just a five walk into Moreton in Marsh with a good range of shops from Aldi to small local shops. Excellent cheese shop and the Mermaid fish and chip shop gives very large and tasty portions. Also recommend the Black Bear Inn for an evening meal. Visited the British Heritage motor museum and can thoroughly recommend it.
We were on the new service pitches which were level and spacious, needed the TV hook up on the bollard which was good and the club WiFi was also excellent.
Work was also on going on improving pitches etc but wasn't a problem.
Only downside was the wardens closed the nearest toilet block on Sunday despite the site being fairly full and heavy rain had caused floods which meant we couldn't reach the other block without wading through water.
Return Visit.
This is one of our go to sites but have only just returned after a two year absence. It was great to see that the club at long last are investing ij this lovely site. The pitches are long overdue some tlc and it is good to see the installation of the fully serviced pitches. There is stall a lot of work to do but with minimum disruption it will be better for all once completed. We walked into the town and visited the bustling market and grabbed a nice morning coffee in one of the many cafes with the added bonus of being able to sit outside. Trips to Charlecote Manor and Batsford Arboretum for more fresh air and walking completed our short break in Moreton.
Great Location
Stayed in February, bit wet and windy but all part of the fun. Great site, clean facilities and lovely hot showers. Wardens very friendly and helpful on arrival. Poor TV signal so bring an aerial cable as you could connect at the power point. 10 min walk into town with lots of places to eat, lots of coffee shops ans some nice antique shops. Not far to drive to lots of other small pretty towns that are also worth a visit.
5 day stay
Friendly reception , easy to book in found a pitch which was 118 we hadn't read the reviews but soon noticed the road was the other side of the pitched bit to be honest this time of year with the door closed we could hardly notice it but I wouldnt enjoy it in the summer.
Site has some ongoing works which we didn't notice and disturbance from .
Our pitch could of done with some gravel adding and to the rear there is a few trees where someone had chucked what looked like food which our dog kept trying to eat but I'm sure the wildlife will enjoy it .
Great Park for children that we didn't use and a good sized dog field with dog bins which was great .
Toilets/showers/dishwashing all lovely and clean.
So many lovely walks from this site I personally enjoyed the walk to Batsford.
If there was one thing ide like to see more of its the book and dvd swap.
Great location
I stayed here in mid-January as I wanted to see some exhibitions at nearby Compton Verney and visit some of the areas other attractions. The site was the perfect base for this.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were good - it was great to have an indoor washing up room to use in the frosty weather. The toilet/shower block was kept immaculately clean. Some work was taking place on pitches near the entrance, but this caused no disturbance as I was out all day long. I was parked well away from the road. I could here traffic occasionally, but it was not a problem. I will certainly stay at this site again.
Great Location but avoid the pitches by the main road
Second visit for us and generally love the site, but, we arrived late in the day and the only pitches left were by the road (we stayed on #76). If you stay in this area, you will probably hear the fairly constant traffic noise through the night, and we couldnt get any satellite or terrestrial TV due to the huge trees. A TV connection is provided on the service point, so if you dont mind a cable though your window, you can overcome that particular problem. We moved pitch the following morning, and found it really peaceful and quiet on the other side of the site, and got great TV reception too! Overall presentation of the site is improved from last time, facilities are generally clean and well maintained, and the other very negative reviews seem a little unfair to me. Staff were helpful and friendly in my experience. Not overkeen on the visiting curry van - moderate quality food, but expensive. Appreciate the offering, but a ten minute walk into town will find better alternatives.
