Dissapointed

Telephoned this site before booking was informed there was a school gym available close by.Turned up on site to be told school having gas refit so wouldnt be able to use. This site has a small gym with equipment you can get by on but unable to use. When asked the  reason i was told about £3,500 which is what the statics pay extra yearly.  If id had known this i wouldnt have booked this site in the first place.Very dissapointed and not what id have expected for £450.00 for a 10 night stay, never again.

4 days at min y don

Lovely site with very friendly staff. The facilities are spotlessly clean and well maintained. Free wifi which is a plus and a short stroll to a well stocked shop. Only slight negative is that the pitches are quite close together , but it didn't cause too much of a problem as we had lovely neighbours. There's a beautiful beach 15 minutes walk away. Harlech castle is worth a visit, but we found it difficult to eat out in Harlech, the pizzeria claimed that they had run out of cheese and the pub was only serving residents of the hotel above. We did manage to eat out at AS IS restraurant which is behind the castle. The food was amazing and the couple who ran it were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Would stay here again.

It feels almost churlish to criticise

This is a well positioned site with a large entrance, easily found on a flat road. The reception is quite grand and all of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. First impressions were very good, the pitches were all level and fully serviced with water, grey waste and EHU. Views of the castle were splendid (when not wiped out by mist), and we found Harlech and the surrounding areas absolutely wonderful. The grounds and the facilities were very well maintained and it was obvious that a great deal of care is taken by all the staff to present the site at its best. However, there are a few criticisms which I feel I must flag up. The facilities are brilliantly cleaned and maintained, but poorly designed. There are no private wash cubicles as on so many other sites that we have visited, and the number of toilets is inadequate for such a site. The last week of our stay coincided with the beginning of the school holidays and the site was noticeably more busy. It was at this time that the lack of facilities was most obvious. The shower/toilet block is very large, it would not have been impossible to increase the number of toilets. The heated indoor dish washing facility was very pleasant, especially on damp days, however yet again, there were insufficient, and they were also very cramped, not really allowing enough room for three people to wash-up at a time despite there being that number of sinks. The Wi-Fi (which is free) is, unfortunately, totally useless. At no point was I able to use it in the 13 nights we were there. Also 3G signal is not great around there so I was having to drive to other locations to use the internet which is essential for my job (not all of us can go on holiday and forget about our businesses). Perhaps the most unfortunate thing however, is how close the touring pitches are together. Several people I spoke to were anxious that, if their neighbour was out without their car when they left the pitch it would be difficult for them to manoeuvre their caravan from the pitch. I was lucky, my neighbour noticed I was packing up and parked his car near the toilet block to give me a good run out. It would need Salop Leisure to sacrifice one or maybe two pitches in each area to improve this, but it would make a significant difference to the look and feel of the site. As I said, it seems almost churlish to criticise what is a well maintained and positioned site, but after a few days the niggles become annoyances and then lead to dissatisfaction with regard to the amount you are paying for your pitch.

Min y Don Caravan Club Site

This site is well placed for accessing the beach sand dunes and the town of Harlech . We found the staff helpful and friendly. A safe environment in which to bring family, friends and your dog. We highly recommend Min y Don Caravan Site and look forward to going again.

Relaxing stay, great views and location for day trips

We don't usually like 'commercial' sites but had to write our opinion here. We stayed in mid-June; the site was easy site to find and very flat. The staff were very helpful, and you can discuss the position of your pitch with them, which worked well for us. Perhaps could do with a few more shower cubicles but the cleanliness and quality of the toilet block was amazing and is always open! The beach is only a short walk away along a quiet road. The site is ideal for day trips to a variety of attractions, using the nearby railway. Harlech Castle (English Heritage members enter free) is a must to visit, especially the cafe with its wonderful views! The town itself deserves exploration.  Yes, its on the pricey side which may restrict the length of stay, but we thought it was worth it overall for the peace and relaxation we experienced, and hope to visit again soon.

Wet Harlech week

Booked for a week but ended up leaving a day early as the rain returned after 3 nice days. Arrived in the rain, first impressions great, very grand entrance and reception but then you drive to the Touring area through hundreds of static vans all superbly set out and looked after but quite crowded. Road opened up in touring area but it was very regimented and again quite crowded with minimal room between pitches which mean your could hear neighbours TVs, music, dogs, conversations etc! Facilities are outstanding, huge barn like building but suprised how few toilets in the Gents and queues did build up for those cubicles. Showers fantastic, huge and loads of hot water. All pitches had water, grey waste and EHU which was nice. Dog walk small & just sufficient. You can walk to the huge and very sandy beach but it's down a road with no real pavement, might be best to drive & park up (avoiding the Pay & Display at your peril). Can also walk up into Harlech which was a disappointed, nothing there in reality other than the awesome and superbly presented Castle - got to visit. Train to Barmouth or Criccieth was good both nice old fashioned seaside towns. All in all a nice site but a bit too regimented in lay out for my tastes and not masses to do within the very close locality. Not one of the cheapest CC sites but due to facilities probably just worth it!

Outstanding Holiday Destination

What and outstanding caravan site, it would be very difficult to find fault. The staff were very courteous and very helpful. The location of this site is very well placed, for visits to the town of Harlech and a must is to visit the castle. A short drive to Portmadoc will give access to and excellent shopping area and restaurants. A ride on the train to Blaenau Ffestiniog is very enjoyable. The scenery is outstanding and a nice stroll to the beach will give you access to a wonderful beach.

Great views

Fantastic views from this flat seaside site beach is only a short stroll away and the castle not far but a bit of a slog up hill. Harlech town is a bit run down but so are many seaside places. Fantastic toilet block but you need a pass key and how many of us forget them !.All pitches are hard standing and fully serviced but at a price, no normal pitches. Felt that £22 per pitch for late October is a bit over the top but it is a good clean site with friendly staff so you pays yer money....Good children's facilities and than might stop me going back LOL. Went to Porthmadog on the train, station is close to site and so is the bus stop along with a shop with a good range of food. In Porthmadog we had a nice meal in the Australian pub along with a great pint of Elderflower ale. At the railway station you can get a good cup of coffee for just £1.20.

Stunning Beach and spotless site

We were passing through Harlech and passed the entrance to the site. Had a look and decided to give it a try. We don't normally use big sites as we normally use CL's and run on solar but it was quiet and out of season and prices were reduced. All the pitches are hard standing and immaculately kept with EHU, water and drainage next to the van. It's in a great location, with a stunning beach a few minutes walk away. We walked to the Castle, above the hills and along the beach. You can get a train to Barmouth etc or Porthmadog and Pwllheli. We had a great view of Snowdon from the van and the castle was lit up at night behind us. The washing and toilet facilities were absolutely spotless and the best we have ever seen. The staff were very friendly and very helpful.A great shop close by. The Castle is great and some lovely cafes. We had six great nights and the weather was amazing. Would we return? Out of season when it's quiet without a doubt. In season when it's full, not a chance!!! Pitches are regimented and too close for our liking. Looking into  several other caravan windows and having so many people around us is not our cup of tea. Obviously other people love it as it is apparantly always full. That said, out of season it was great value (the beach and town car parks are £4) as we walked pretty much every where and left the car behind. We went to Snowdon and could see the caravan from the summit. For our out of season stay 10/10 from us

Very Clean Spacious Site

Good location below the castle and close to the huge beach. Absolutely immaculate facilities. Harlech itself is very pleasant anf there is plenty more to explore hereabouts. The pitches are all hardstanding in neat rows, and perfectly flat. Maybe a little bit regimented but very good neverthess and each with their own waterpoint. There is a handy grocery store a few hundred yards away.
