Magnificent site in a great location with wonderful views.
Wardens are excellent and very understanding when we had a family issue which made it difficut to confirm our booking.
The site has an immaculate toilet block which still looks new even though it was built in circa 2008.
Lovely to be able to walk down a quiet road and then track to the Beach to enjoy the sunsets!
Check site touring rules before booking
The site has excellent facilties and the location is fantastic for the castle, beach and views of Snowdonia.
However the rules are well hidden on their website. The link is not in black or bold, it's a light pink colour hidden at the end and easy to miss.
You are not allowed to drive away from a drive away awing, cannot use a utility or storage tent. Windbreaks are also to be small and taken down after daytime use.
Not an ideal site for campervan touring.
Fantastic site
Just returned after a week here. Fantastic location, site was really nice great facilities, staff were helpful and polite. Stunning scenery highly recommend.
Fabulous location!
This large site has been cleverly divided into sections by hedges so that it doesn’t feel like a large car park. Our pitch was large and really nicely spaced out (pitch 97). There is a good view of the beautiful imposing castle when wandering around the site. Clean facilities, push button showers but they stay on long enough. The best bit for us was the short walk to the fabulous beach! We visited Harlech a couple of times by the short steep road. Only real improvement that could be made is the dog walk area … which was strange like quite a lot of CMC sites! Would definitely visit again!
A fantastic site, well worth a visit!
A fantastic site, so family friendly! Excellent warden's who keep the site immaculately clean.
The best feature for us as a young family was the location - short walking distance to the huge beach and a short cycle away from the village Premier shop. Both experiences our children loved!
Would highly recommend the Mawddach cycle trail between Barmouth and Dolgellau which is only a short drive away.
So much to do in the area, this site is a real gem! Would highly recommend!
An excellent, very clean site ideally located for beach and town
Site:
Not a cheap site, but pitches are excellent, spacious hard standing and all are fully serviced (16 amp electric, mains water and drainage). Access roads on site are good, but as the pitches are set in cul-de-sacs you will need to maneuver the caravan to it's pitch using a mover/by hand or reverse all the way down if you are on an end pitch. The site is immaculate and has the impression of only just being refurbished, but I don't think that's the case. The touring park is through the static caravan part, toilets and showers are to a high standard. There is no bar/restaurant etc on site. When we were there the site was silent from 10.00pm, the views from our pitch were very nice.
Local amenities:
The beach is a 5/10 minute walk away, the beach is clean and a nice golden sand, even the sea wasn't as cold as I expected (still cold though!). There is a small supermarket style shop to the at the end of the road which stocked everything we needed with more shops (deli etc) in town and a small hotel/bar/restaurant opposite the shop. Harlech castle and Harlech town centre are only a short walk away with the World's steepest street being a challenge for those daft enough to try and cycle up it (I did and failed!).
Access:
Careful planning is needed to avoid any tight Welsh unclassified roads, even the A roads are tight in places. The A496 is the only road to use and while it's wide enough for two CARS care needs to be taken on some stretches due to rocks along the side making it not wide enough for a caravan to pass wider vehicles. Drive slowly and carefully. The road to the site is fine but there is no footpath so pedestrians are in the roadway.
All-in-all we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Too Clinical
Immaculate site, the shower block is definitely the best I’ve ever experienced, 5*+ so much room, so clean, so light, radio, warm, a real treat. Although we thought site was well located beach, walks, shop & pubs. Nearby shop useless and forget the chance of a nice mid week pub meal or takeaway. One allegedly full at 7pm on a Tuesday night, the other stopped serving at 7.30pm despite signs outside saying different. No takeaways open or delivery service. This was in mid May site 1/3 full. Someone is missing a trick, for food van, delivery service here……
Not our favourite place
Our trip started badly! Our “truck sat nav” took us down a “B” road into the Snowdonia national park. We were towing a caravan and had many near misses and fists waved in our direction. One person stopped us to say we shouldn’t be there with a caravan, no sh*t Sherlock!!! We have learned to always check a paper map before setting off in future.
Even the proper roads weren’t that great and we worried for a week (in the rain) how we would get out of Wales.
The site is impressive but a tad misleading but that may have just been me. I (for some reason) thought we were right next to the beach and expected endless sea views and beautiful sunsets - wrong! You have to walk out the site, past all the statics, turn right at reception then head to the end of the road where you are greeted with miles and miles of dunes. You then wander down a path through the dunes only to find that the tide is out and the sea is far far away.
Harlech isn’t worth the drive nor is any other part of the area in our humble opinion. We had some nice drives, Conwy was worth a trip as was Bets y Coed and the mountain roads thrilling. However we wouldn’t return to Wales.
In fairness there are caravan sites all over so others must love it and this site was actually nice. Staff were friendly, toilet block amazing, clean and tidy!
Tip: don’t go port meirion, it is expensive and the most bizarre place I have ever been. A bit like Disney on a minimum budget. It is neglected, lots of places closed to the public and all just a bit odd.
Sorry Wales

It's like Marmite - you'll love it or hate it! We hated it!
We didn't read the previous reviews but went on the recommendation of someone who loved it, as it had what they needed - a good shower block, good disabled facilities and access, and they went during a quiet period.
We hated it! Caravans were in regimented rows, very close together. On our first weekend we realised we were camped behind the family from hell with no volume controls. Even worse, we realised when they left, and as we breathed a sigh of relief, that they had a seasonal pitch - and next week was half term! Thankfully they didn't come back until the next weekend, and then we were treated to a disco with loud music and flashing lights, and lots of yelling. We rang the office with no reply, and were informed the next day that we should have made the long walk at night to the office as the emergency number is on the door. As we had been in bed, we had referred to the rules book issued on arrival, and it would be helpful if the emergency number was in here. Clearly the rule about noise and unruly behaviour was ignored! However, the staff did speak to the family, but as they were staying, we took the decision to leave a day earlier than planned.
On the plus side, the shower block is excellent, lots of them and very clean, and the site is well maintained. Excellent laundry facilities, not too expensive.
The wifi however, is absolutely abysmal and don't even think about paying extra. It's not secure, even with a code, and it's better to find somewhere else if you need this, like the local pub.
Harlech fish and chip shop was excellent with huge portions.
Places to visit - Llanfair Slate Caverns was excellent, a lot bigger than we'd thought and very interesting. Harlech Beach is lovely but we liked Llandanwrg beach next door, with the beautiful St Tarwgs Church - oldest gravestone we found was 1699!! Borth y Gest and Barmouth are nice, and we had some trips on the Welsh Highland Railway, which was excellent.
To be fair, the staff at this site were very pleasant and did refund our payment for the terrible wifi and 2 nights for the neighbours from hell.
Would we return? NO! We felt it was overpriced and whilst there is a discount for staying off peak and for more than few nights, it's really not our sort of place at all!
The perfect campsite
As another reviewer put i nearly cancelled after looking at some older reviews and am so pleased i didn't,it is a great site with friendly wardens, well laid out and maintained and probably the best facility block i have ever seen - always spotlessly clean,my only point would be that if your pitch is at the far end of the site it is a fair walk to the showers but i am sure they will accommodate you with the pitch if they can, this is how all campsites should be.
