This site is one of the best on the network. The club site handbook states that Melrose is 1 mile away. In fact, the site is in the middle of Melrose, a 2 minute walk from good Co-op and 5 minutes at most from all shops, cafes, pubs and ruined Abbey. Lovely walks along river. I recommend crossing the river by metal bridge to Gatonside, then turning left along the river to main road. After crossing road bridge, take the path leading along the other side of the river to come back into town. Site has always been well managed with very clean facilities. We visit at least once every year.
