Short stay

Had a lovely stay one night heading up to Scotland and again on return. Wardens are lovely and helpful and site is very well looked after. Beautiful town and walks from the site. children’s play area and tennis court around the corner. Plenty of eating places and interesting shops. Would love to return. Very good for us with dogs. Only problem is the facilities are very dated and small so maybe wouldn’t be happy for any length of time but fine for a short stay. Needs updating. However they are kept as clean as possible given their age. All credit due to the wardens. Really hope upgraded facilities are planned. Then it would be a fantastic site.

Perfect location if you don’t want to drive

Nice site although we did find manoeuvring a bit tight. Really friendly wardens. One toilet block which is very clean but there are only four toilets. Small but adequate dog walk. Excellent location. You walk out of the site and straight into Melrose which has plenty of interest: shops, cafes, bars etc. Pubs were quite lively and noisy on the Saturday we visited and booking was required for a table even though it was early in the day. Recommend you download the ‘Melrose Paths’ for circular routes that start and finish in the village. We really enjoyed the walk along the River Tweed. We didn’t have much choice of a pitch when we arrived and ended up backing onto the tennis court. The noise of the balls going back and forward isn’t too bad but the shouting and effing and blinding from the players got a bit irritating after a while.

another great stay

once again another wonderful stay at Melrose Gibson Park, toilet block was spotless, the grounds were immaculate, and as always the staff were helpful and courteous. An ideal location just on the edge of the town, close to the bus stops and cafés.

Another great stay

We went back to Melrose which is one of our top two sites. The site itself has not changed and is still very clean and tidy and thanks again to the friendly and hardworking wardens. Great location, really a few minutes walk from the large Co-op store and now even better across the road from the Co-op is a a new coffee and sandwich trailer/caravan which has a great choice of coffees and filled sandwiches/croissants - personal recommendation is the bacon and brie. The town has gained another coffee shop as well. Sadly the Abbey is still not fully open due to safety work that needs doing but you can walk around the grounds, but Drybrugh Abbey a few miles way is fully open again. The afternoon tea at the Drybrurgh hotel next door is excellent. Quite a few restaurants in Melrose give discounts for club members and the takeaway is very good value - another personal recommendation is the deep fried Haggis!. There is also now a twice daily free bus service to Abbotsford from the town centre. As of the date of writing this the A68 is closed weekdays 9-3pm south of Carter bar till mid June or longer.

A great site

The Melrose site and surrounding areas are a great place to visit anytime of year. The site is always immaculately maintained as well as Melrose itself.

One of our goto sites!

Despite being only 60 miles away it's one of out favourite sites, especially for the first run of the year when checking the van out, plenty of store such as B&Q and Halfords in Galashiels for any DiY fixes, Site itself is well laid out with a pretty good dog walk on site. Facilities are the usual CAMC standard and kept immaculate. Locally its literally 200yds from front gate to a well stocked Coop, another 100yds and you are in the town centre with a good selection of butchers and bakers and an awesome charity shop!! (lets say it reflects the wealth of the area) There is a superb river walk that brings you up by the Abbey and into town centre - around 3mls. Galashiels is only 7 mls away with a great selection of big and local shops - Tesco, Asda, Pets at Home, BnQ, Halfords etc

Great Location in Town

The site is right in the middle of Melrose, so an easy walk to the Abbey (under renovation at the moment) and a couple of associated gardens which open in April. A short stroll has you on the riverbank, and there is a supermarket and a few pubs and restaurants right outside. The rugby club is just across the road. Wardens were friendly and welcoming, and the facilities were up to the usual club standards, although only 4 W.C. for quite a few vans. I would book an awning pitch if I went again as there are only a few without and they are located in a big tarmac area behind the admin block.

Great location and layout

Great stay. Location is fab and pitches well laid out. Definitely recommend. Only criticism was that when I was washing up (which is in an outdoor area) someone came out of the chemical toilet disposal room and I got a terrible smell from it!

Excellent Site

Well located site midway between Edinburgh and Newcastle in lovely borders town. 100 yards to bustling High Street with cafes, pubs, eateries in abundance. 2 small but well stocked supermarkets in easy walking distance. Lots of walks from site with excellent walking guide to purchase available from site shop. Very dog friendly locality, feels very welcoming. One of our favourite sites.
