Another brilliant stay

We have been coming to Melrose for over 14 years and we always come away happy. The site itself and shower block continues to be kept to the high standards expected of all club sites and is a credit to the hard working wardens. The site itself is all hardstanding with a few non awning pitches and 10 service pitches. It is literally in the village itself and all cafes, shops, and the National trust for Scotland attractions (gardens and Abbey) are all within a ten minute walking of the site. There are plenty of places to eat from cafes to restaurants and the Kings Arm has 10% off on production of your club card. The Rhymer’s Fayre is especially good value for lunch with soup, toastie, and hot drink for £6.50. All these places are on trip advisor so check them out. There is a good playground and playing field next to, but off site, so children are well catered for. There is a well-stocked information room with lots of ideas and places to visit in the village and surrounding area. The shower/toilets close for half an hour each for Ladies and gents from 11 -12. The only slight criticisms are that is no toilet open while cleaning takes place (unlike other sites) and a few pitches do flood quite badly. This has been going on for years and it is time the club did something about it. I can’t wait for the next time we visit.

Rugby 7's weekend

Another fantastic visit to this little stunning site. Wardens work hard to keep site looking good.  Busiest we've seen the town with the 7's being on.  Town comes alive and the day at the rugby is good.

Melrose Gibson park

Arrived at the park on the Thursday of Easter weather was great. Set up on my allocated pitch everything was fine till the next day when the Warden approached me to sternessly tell me that my two dogs must be marched off site to do there business minding one dog is a tea cup chihuahua with a bad leg the other is a Pomeranian and I would never let them foul any part of the sit.But there is ways to talk to people and not speak to you like a Victorian school master considering my wife and I are OAPs.To his defence there was only himself and his wife on site to do everything, but there is a way to speak to the paying customers. As a result we became uneasy about being watched as we were right next to there caravan. Not a great holiday

Not surprised pitches available

Yep - great site, great location, and I agree with most of the comments below. We were pitched up beside the dog walk and I found it slightly noisy from the overhead traffic because there were no leaves on the trees yet which would normally reduce any noise to nil. We went to Melrose Gibson the week before the school Easter period and as far as I could see, not unusually, it was full - it's a popular site. It did not surprise me however that once the school Easter period arrived quite suddenly there were many empty pitches (only my opinion but yes I was there). I put this down to the considerable price rise to stay which, bearing in mind it was still virtually winter I thought was excessive. Easter in 2016 is a week earlier and if the prices go up as they did this year (during the school holiday period) I won't be making this trip which is always my first of the season. Just to give anyone reading this an idea of what the price increases mean I paid less than £90 for five nights last year (out of school holiday period) whereas this year I paid nearly £150 for 4 nights out of school holiday season and 3 days within the school holiday period - seven nights in total. And yes I can afford it thank you very much but I just question whether it was good value for money. My view, my opinion, no complaints of any kind.

Another brilliant visit

A brilliant site, wardens and location. Would highly recommend a visit to this site. Once pitched you really don't need to move your car everything close by. Lovely walks for the dog too.

one of the best sites

brilliant site ,great wardens very willing to help, chat, assist you with any problems that you might have ,location is 250yds from Melrose main street , loads of walks from site along river ,Eildon hills can be seen from site, most hotels/pubs are dog friendly ,toilets spotless, warm ,very small comment.ie. shower curtain is to high of floor ,when having shower, water gets underneath and onto the tiles that you are going to stand and dry yourself .ie wet floor outside of shower area .

Cannot rate this site high enough

My husband and I and two dogs have just returned from two weeks in this lovely site.  We were there as we needed to be in Melrose for a specific reason and it suited us perfectly.  Being so close to the town, we hardly needed to use our car and loved the variety and uniqueness of the local shops which provide all we needed for our stay.  Walks along the river were very close by and there were plenty of places if we chose to eat out.  The site was spotlessly clean and tidy and the shower block very good.   The wardens were very helpful and we could not fault their enthusiasm for looking after the site. We can't wait to go back, but being so popular it seems one has to book early.

Great site

Excellent site located in Melrose. Facilities are kept spotless. Wardens extremely helpful and friendly. Stayed on a fully serviced pitch. It's a bit tight for size but otherwise it's a great site. Much better since the trees have been cut back.

SITES DONT GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS

Having just spent our second visit to Melrose in 5 months ,we can honestly say its top class. All the reviews are spot on and describe the site prfectly .The only thing i can add is try the virtual golf centre in Galoshiels , they have all the golf courses and also crazy golf for the young ,penalty shoot out as well .Something for the rainy day,or just enjoy the walks.Edinburgh is an easy drive. The site staff are really helpfull . We will be back.
