Absolutely stunning location. The wardens very welcoming and friendly. So quiet and tranquil. I've never seen the night sky with so many stars etc due to zero light pollution. The sound of the river, also very calming. If you cross the small bridge at the opening to the site less than 5 minutes away you have the incredible ancient Finlanrig ruined castle, this is unbelievable and only a few minutes away. Surprisingly no midges either. 5STAR site. Definitely be back.
Amazingly beautiful campsite
A beautiful campsite near a river with views of mountains. Good location with Killin nearby, where there are shops and pubs/restaurants and everything you need. Including a place to hire kayaks to paddle on the river and then loch Tay. Fishing was poor as we were there when the water level was so low due to the dry weather (no fault of the campsite). Where we stayed it was quiet however there will be road noise on pitches which backed on to the road. The logging lorries that use the road drive at a terrifying pace. The drive from Inverness along loch Tay was probably the most challenging drive towing ever (I have towed in the Alps a lot, Italy and all of the A470 in Wales). My wife tells me the scenery was breathtaking - I however was starring at the mirrors as every vehicle passed hoping they wouldn't smash on the floor! We actually saw motorhomes with smashed up mirrors on the road. When we arrived there were units blocking up the main road, however the wardens managed the situation swiftly and efficiently and checked us in quickly without paying to get everyone on site and off the dangerous road. Really friendly and informative wardens - up there with the best we've come across. A visit to Aberfeldy distillery is highly recommended and a very good solution to forget the horrendous drive to the site! The falls of Dochart are worth a visit as they are beautiful. We should have spent more time on the campsite as it was amazing and would definitely return.
A site of two parts
The site is in a lovely area, but with few facilities close to the site, that would be one small Coop, and a hardware store
We arrived at approx 13.30 pm, and checking in was scary, as when we got there ,there was caravans, and motor homes from both directions , on the road itself, waiting get on to the site
The toilets are tired, and who ever built them most have had a depressive personality, the decor is, uninviting, and dark, and neither did they know the physics that water runs to the lowest level
The sites for me is in two parts ,we where lucky as we got a pitch next to the river, and away from the road, but for those next to the road, unless they suffer from hearing loss, it is noisy
For me it is a to out of the way site ,and with the high possibility of ending up with a pitch on the road site, not a site i would recommend or will be visiting again
First visit to the area!
A wonderful scenic drive down from Inverness brought us to this lovely riverside location. Quick and efficient check in by friendly staff. Suitable nice sized pitch located and we were soon set up. First evening a torrential rain storm caused more than a few pitches to be flooded ours included. However it all seemed to drain away overnight and all was well for the rest of our break. Dog walking had to be taken off site. Kenmore and Aberfeldy worth a visit. Would return to this lovely site. Walk to the village of Killin easy to pick up supplies.

Beautiful location
A beautiful location in a lovely village. On arrival we had to wait out on the road which was dangerous. Letting us through to find a pitch would have been better as we couldn’t have left without having a barrier fob anyway! Having to queue outside the office was not a safe option, when the passenger and not the driver was left sitting in their vehicle. The toilet and shower facilities were basic and in need of immediate updating. More information about the other facilities such as a drying room (a brilliant idea, which could be included in other sites) would have been useful, but I guess the business of our arrival meant that a full induction could not be given (we didn’t know about leaving details of where you were going as one review has stated!) Another area of concern was the play area which was in the middle of the site, but not fenced in as is usual. We are sorry to give such a negative review, but they should not stop anyone from visiting such an amazing area.

Beautiful site in stunning area
We arrived at this site to a lovely welcome from the Warden. Pitches are level and hard standing with electric etc. The only point is the shower block, which is slightly dated although beautifully clean at all times. The view was lovely from our pitch, and there are plenty of walks up to the Falls of Dochart and to Loch Tay. We walked through the wooded area, and were lucky enough to see a red squirrel scampering around. Killen is a small village with a Co-op and a couple of other shops including a gift shop. A nice touch from the Wardens is if you are walking or climbing anywhere they ask you to fill in a form asking where you are going and what time to expect you back. A very good idea in this sort of area - thank you. We could happily have stayed another couple of nights, but will definitely return at some point.
Lovely site in a beautiful setting
Had a 2 night stay and wish it had been longer. Beautiful area, lovely peaceful clean site and very friendly/helpful staff. Short walk to Loch Tay and to nearby hotels etc. So impressed we booked to return in a few weeks while we were there. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for peace and quiet in the most beautiful setting.
Overnight stop
Stopped on way to making for west coast as it was a half way house for us. Arrived dead on checking in time which was probably an error as it was very busy. But as we were staying only for one night we wanted to make the most of our time. Would maybe hang back next time and time it better. Although it was busy and a bit of a tail back onto road check in was efficient and our pick of pitch number was right beside riverbank which was lovely. Site was great and facilities well maintained and organised. It’s is not the wardens or sites fault that the patrons don’t follow the regulations that are in place for people’s safety.
Anyway site is in a great location to walk into the village for the falls pubs and shops that are there. There is also a fantastic walk down to Loch Tay and back along the old railway. Great for dog walks. Definitely would use again and be nice to stay a bit longer.
Lovely place: pity about the facilities
Lovely situation but facilities leave the site in a past age. Toilets and showers archaic : the worst we have encountered in our holiday in Scotland and it is not the cheapest site we’ve stayed on. TV reception ‘fair’ : it is nearer to non-existent and cannot even get radio reception. WiFi, which is far from cheap at club sites, is variable but not quick enough to use iPlayer. This is all a great shame because Killin has much going for it. The site is very busy but well run. The countryside is lovely but sadly we will avoid in future unless the facilities are brought into the current century.
Fantastic location, poor facilities
Maragown site is in a fantastic location, incredible views and very peaceful if your pitch is by the river otherwise some road noise. Our only complaint is the poor facilities,
The whole shower block was closed from 10am to 12pm, are people not on holiday? All other sites the facilities are closed for an hour. At 11.30am I was told to stop washing the pots as the area was closed off. The area is away from the toilets and to close that off for that length of time is crazy. The washing area had one sink for the whole campsite, the other two closed for COVID reasons were disgusting, obviously people had rinsed pots in them and in the week we were there they had not been cleaned. At 4pm the toilets are closed again for 20minutes which is fair enough but when I went in it was if it was a stable that had been hosed down. I had to use large amount of toilet tissue to dry the seat, lid etc. What I don’t understand is why we all have to be showered by 10am when we are on holiday. A Caravan Club site in Derbyshire close their facilities from 2pm to clean, isn’t this the best time when people are out for the day? When you are paying nearly £30 a night you expect better customer service and facilities.
