Graet location, tired showers

Great location. Substandard amenity block A narrow site tucked in between the river Lochay and the road from Killin to the lovely village of Kenmore. The road is not busy but can be a little noisy through the day. Near silent at night. The pitches at the far, narrow end of the site can be a little dark and you might need a TV aerial booster. The showers are hot with decent pressure but very much from the 80s. Is that a cast concrete floor in there? Great location for walkers (Tarmachan ridge, Ben Lawers and many other walks) and those wishing to explore the secrets of KiIllin - and there are a few. We watched wild beavers at dusk, a short walk away.

Excellent site, well maintained and clean

This was our first visit to this site and it didn’t disappoint. We asked for a view next to the river and got one. The site is lovely and clean but the toilet block could do with an upgrade, although personally I found everything acceptable A walk to the loch is about 30 minutes on an easy, hard surface lane and the walk into nearby Killin is about 20 minutes. The nearest pub we could use were also in Killin opposite the falls. Wardens were friendly and we had a very pleasant stay.

lovely site

this was our first visit to the site and what a lovely site it is made even better by the great staff running it, we had an issue with our Motorhome just before we arrived on site which needed the attendance of the RAC to check it over and the staff kept there eye out for them coming and pointed him in our direction they were also very friendly and helpful with advice of things to see and do and local walks etc. and although the facilities were kept very clean and tidy they are Dated and could do with upgrading we would recommend the capercaillie inn in Killin for food in a very Friendly atmosphere

Toilet block in desperate need of refurbishment

Lovely campsite in a beautiful area. We had a pitch next to the river. Some slight road noise but not to intrusive, as others have stated, toilet block, whilst clean was dated and in need of refurbishment. After 17 years in the club I thought I had got to grips with all the rules… ( no.. ! ) I made the mistake of putting my freestanding awning on the back of my pitch just on the grass so I could watch the river, 😢 it didn’t take the warden long to point out in a very stern type of attitude my mistake…. SORRY I must try better next time.. 😉 we will return again hopefully after a refurb…

lovely place being let down by club management

First visit for us we arrived ten minutes early and it was backlogged not much arrivals parking, once the wardens started check in it was done rapidly and we was made quite welcome. we chose a riverside pitch and was very pleased on first impressions the site looks very well kept. i spoke to one of the wardens while we was setting up our van and he organized a free fishing permit for me. The site is close to a road which you do hear but its not very busy. now then as for the shower block sorry but you cant polish a t@@@ it needs refurbing yesterday end of. we had a day walking up ben ghlas and ben lawers only about three mile from site, you can walk into town were there is a coop that is a bit of a tardis with most things you could need, a few pubs and bars and a couple of restaurants. if you take first left from the site you pick up a traffic free path to the falls of dochart and loch tay, we enjoyed our stay and will return at some point hopefully after a refurb

Needs to have toilet block refurbished

Beautiful part of the world. Nice site location by the river - watch out for the midges. Quite a long walk by the busy road to town. The toilet block is very much in need of refurbishment.

Location, location, location

Great location, beautiful area. Site suffers a little from road noise. We arrived after a horrible journey. Had just set up when Warden came along and told us we had to move the van over as we weren't in the middle of the pitch. We said we wanted to move in the morning to a different pitch but we were told that he couldn't have it like that all night and it was on the leaflet. I said I didn't get one, it's on the booklet, I said I don't have one, he then snidely asked "have you never been to a club site before." We moved over the 12 inches only to discover when we looked across at the van opposite to find it wasn't in the middle either but nothing was said about it. Entry at lunch time the following day was chaos as vans and motorhomes started arriving at 12 and it's 1pm entry. By 12.55 there were nine waiting to get in with the entrance totally blocked as was the main road. Wardens were all going about but no one used their initiative to sort it out. We didn't move in the morning after the carry on the day before.

Great location but inadequate facilities

Caution required in a larger motorhome or towing when travelling to site - the northern Loch Tay road has numerous locations where the road narrows to 1.5 vehicles width and the locals naturally assume they have right of way. The alternative road along the south of the loch is 'walker and cyclist friendly' so expect to come across people in the road around every blind bend (road best avoided if possible). The site location is very good - a 10 min walk into the village, which has all key facilities; book well ahead (ie a week) if you wish to eat at the recommended Courie Inn as it is very busy. Falls of Dochart dinner - good but not great. If you wish to venture further afield eg to Kenmore or Aberfeldy, or to get onto Ben Lawers (all recommended) you'll need transport. The setting of the site, by the river, is lovely, no midges thankfully, but a large bunch of noisy kids ended up playing outside our motorhome every day - fine if you like that sort of thing, but no sign of the parents, who were presumably camped up at the quiet end of the site....! No problems with check-in, although only very rudimentary site briefing, despite it being quiet when we arrived; I found the staff to be quite officious in manner and not particularly welcoming, although given the other reviews singing their praises, I'm willing to accept that they may have been having an off-day. The facilities are poor and very tired for a site that is not cheap. Not up to the usual high standard we've come to expect (look at Grantown-on-Spey to see how it should be done). Single washing machine was u/s hence no clothes washing facilities. On top of that, the (single) main toilet/washing block was shut for 2 hours every day, ostensibly to carry out a covid deep-clean, but frankly I've no idea what they were doing for that length of time. Other sites take 30 mins. Site security is good - a swipe card is required to get in and out, although whether that deters anyone on foot from jumping over the fence is debatable, so usual precautions should be taken with your stuff. So in summary, great location and setting but facilities really do need some investment.
