A VERY ENJOYABLE WEEK

The site at Malvern is spacious, well kept and ordered. We received a warm welcome from the relatively new wardens and were given good advice on the best locations on this relatively large an open site. The facilities were spotlessly clean and conveniently positioned. We were almost put off by some of the negative reviews. We enjoyed our visit and appreciated the efforts made by the wardens in maintaining the site the standards expected of a Club Site. David Jones

Hot Week

Just returned from a hot week but managed to get a tree! So had some shade. Lovely site but in the whole week I did not see one blade of grass being cut, no water point cleaned, and no local waste bins. You have to trapse across the site because they only use bins by the toilet blocks. What to 3 wardens do all day apart from book in and sell ice cream? Also they seem to have blocked up at one if not two chemical points so this meant another long walk. However we had originally planned the newly re-furbished site at Tewkesbury, but having made a visit - No thanks - It is just a huge car park/transit camp for caravans. Gone are all the trees bushes etc. It is horrible and it used to be my favourite site. So if you are thinking of a holiday down here Malvern must be first choice now, but come via Junction 1 on the M50 not via Worcester Southen Link Road.- Traffic is horrendous.

Lovely parkland site with a delightful pub at the top of the road!

Malvern Hills caravan club site is a lovely open parkland area. The pitches are nicely managed and the staff obliging and cheery. The shower and toilets facilities are clean and tidy but are in need of refurbishment, they looked a bit tired if anything.

The opposing view

Having been a member for 43 years and just having spent 5 nights at Malvern I really do not understand some of the negative views. The site is in a superb setting - trees, shrubs, views to the hills from lots of pitches etc. The toilet block is perfectly adequate and exceptionally clean. As for the signage from the road, I really think some members need to go to Specsavers! At what speed were they travelling? Yes, the CCC sign is larger but there is a CMC sign at the large entrance - if not quite so prominent - but this is what you are looking for and in my opinion is not that hard to see. Once into the site(s) entrance the CMC sign quite clearly has an arrow on it pointing straight on - past the Girl Guide Centre - or do members turn down here too? We have stayed at this site many times over the years and have always found wardens friendly and helpful. Now - to the matter of grass cutting!!! This has been our only bug bear over the years. Sometimes the tractors have cut the grass for hours every day of our stays. Or the strimmer has been going. The noise has been horrendous. This time - for four whole days - the grass has not been cut - paradise. Not once! The grass is not full of weeds as mentioned but clover (both colours!) and bird's foot trefoil etc. The grass is only about 2/3 inches tall and looks in our opinion, glorious. Reminded us of our many trips to France where the grass is always left and just cut when absolutely necessary - and the sites are peaceful as they should be - we are, after all, on holiday for goodness sake! We btw stay on grass with our motorhome when possible - this is our choice - not because there are no hardstandings left as suggested - and the grass pitches being at all angles looks lovely. We do not want the grass to look like a bowling green or the pitches to be all in a line. I suggest members who do choose somewhere where they can park on tarmac, like Warwick. Not a blade of grass or weeds on non awning pitches there to annoy anyone. And, yes, we have stayed there too on many occasions. It's as good a site as Malvern - just different. Have I mentioned that we've thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay on grass at Malvern?

A liittle dissapointed

I agree with the last two contributors, The signage is very poor, so much so that we could not see the entrance to Malvern Hills and turned into the previous Site, The lady informed me that it happens all the time. Likewise the CC. Club sign on the main road is visible only after you have passed the entrance. The Grass cutting was not so bad when we visited, but still very intrusive. I know if you did not cut the grass we would complain that way. but the mowers seem very noisy even when on next area. The TV rating is not "fair" it is very poor unless you have a dish or a special type of aerial. I like the idea of being left to choose which pitch, with plenty of grass pitches available. But we nevertheless had a wonderful short stay, helped by gorgeous weather, surroundings and the annual Jazz fest.

Large site ( to large )

Stayed here for a three night break, have to say not a fan of arriving and being told to go and find a pitch that may or not be hardstanding. The site is massive with grass pitches seemingly all scattered in every direction with hard standing pitches in between. We had booked a hard standing pitch as we have a large motorhome and when we arrived we're told that their might be only grass pitches left, now that seems to benefit people who can arrive early, and not people arriving after work, anyway about the site too big for us, pitches full of weeds and shower blocks in need of TLC. The signage as you arrive is a bit misleading as we also turned into the site next door as did lots of other arrivies, The location is good plenty of things to see and do and not too far to drive. A word of warning Malvern itself has a very steep hill so it's advisable not to drive through if your towing. We would visit here again only to attend the county show ground other wise we would look else where maybe somewhere smaller and better kept, I understand that the site itself must be hard to maintain because of the sheer size but when sites become too large to maintain you loose the whole essence of what the club promotes.

Lots of grass

First let me get the negatives out of the way. The signage for this site is truly appalling. If you follow the advised route the only sign you see is a very large one for the Caravan and Camping Club site that is next door. The CAMC sign is only visible once you have passed the turning and as it is the new small nondescript type you have to look very hard to spot, facing the wrong way and behind a hedge. Secondly if you are a fan of the little orange tractors or the big green and yellow ones this is the site for you. You can experience non stop grass cutting from mid morning until very late afternoon. The Site staff had at least three tractor mowers plus petrol ones going for three days solid non stop. This is not a site to relax on. Site located well if you like walking as the Malvern hill are on the doorstep and can be seen from the site. Both loo blocks are adequate and are kept clean.

Well worth a visit

If you want a site away the general hubub of life try this one. There is no road noise etc.. We were greeted by a very friendly warden and the layout of the site explained. The pitches are a good size and during our visit ther were plenty to choose from. There is a small wooded dog walk at the bottom of the site which is ideal. The are two facilities blocks with real hot water, not the just above warm water on some sites - bonus. We have been to the area before but there is always somewhere else to visit and take in a bit of history. Some good photography to be had as well. We can heartily recommend the Fish and Chip shop in Malvern - finding a parking place can be an art but it’s worth it. If you follow your sat nav to Morrison’s in Malvern don’t think it’s having a hic-up. Likewise for the Sainsbury’s Local. And whatever you do, make sure you follow the directions in the handbook to get to the site - Malvern in a car was “entertaining” never mind having the caravan attached.

Great site but looking unloved.

I have been going to this site for 4 years now, and this is the first time it has felt unloved. The grass was the longest I have ever seen it and the hard standing pitches are covered in weeds, also noted by our neighbours. The facilities were clean but there was a lot of dust on the shelves, the bins were emptied daily but to be honest I only saw one person that worked there our entire stay. This is a fantastic site and I hope it gets the attention it deserves, never have I seen it so quiet,
