New Year 2016

Normally we would have packed the caravan away for Winter at the end of October and that would be that until next March but this year we opted for a different approach and made a reservation for a 4 night stay at Longleat to include New Years Eve. It is essential to follow the Caravan Club's directions to locate the site as there is only one approach down a couple of miles of narrow lanes with occasional passing places which would be a real challenge if you met another outfit coming the other way. Once at the site you will find a real gem set among the trees and hedges. Fine, generally level hard standings all well drained and in spite of some quite prolonged spells of rain the puddles never hung around for long. There is a good variety of walks in the area including some long distance paths and some useful information in the info cabin on site. The wild animal park is a great attraction for families and we could clearly hear some of the animal calls from our pitch. At the time of our visit there was a festival of light in the park which culminated at 6.30pm with a magnificent fireworks display close enough to the site to be well worth watching and far enough from the animals to avoid undue distress. There is a terrific pub The Royal Oak in about 40 minutes walk from the site with good food at reasonable prices but if you fancy a curry then a curry house in nearby Warminster will deliver to site for a modest £3.00 delivery charge. An ASDA store is only 3 miles away at Frome for all other essentials. This was great site with very friendly wardens for a winter stay and we will definitely go back in the warmer seasons for another look.

Peaceful & spotless

A lovely site in a fantastic location if you are visiting Longleat House & Estate. Our 3rd New Year here; wardens very friendly & welcoming; spotless facilities; they made a concerted effort New Years Eve too, which was greatly appreciated.  Local Royal Oak pub 30 minutes walk away offer superb food & an excellent welcome as indeed does the Horse & Jockey. Enjoyed our stay as always very much. We used bicycles again to explore further afield.  What a shame a selfish dog owner on site allowed its dog to leave its mess at the end of our pitch; thoughtless people like that spoil it for others & let the side down! Fortunately people like that are in the minority, thankfully!!!!!!!

Fantastic site to visit the attractions at Longleat

We booked last minute as we wanted to fit in a visit before the end of the school holidays to see the lantern show at Longleat house and were pleasantly surprised - The display was truly amazing. To compliment our visit the Club site and the staff were really friendly and helpful, our pitch was excellent and site very clean and well kept despite the atrocious weather ! The toilet block was impeccably clean - thanks again for an enjoyable visit - the only criticism I have was the special offer promoted by the caravan club for discounted admission to the House and safari which was not as good as the deal I found  at www.tickets.daysoutwithkids.co.uk - maybe the club can direct people alternatively ?

Best New Year

We stayed 2 nights for New Years Eve. The lights and Fireworks were amazing.  We couldn't believe how close Longleat house was to the campsite. Literally 5minute walk. The safari Bus ride was fantastic.  Staff and facilities were great. Super clean site and very helpful staff. We'll be back again. ??

Wonderful Light Show

From a motorhoming point of view this campsite is too remote for anything other than visiting the Longleat Estate in my view. For that purpose it is excellent as its just a short walk to the entrance. The site facilities are the same as you would expect from any other Club sites and the majority of pitches are on hardstandings. WiFi is a bit slow but given the site location not surprising. The approach road to the site needs care as its narrow in places and important that you don't arrive before 1.00pm. We visited the site to see The Festival of Light which was well worth it. Tickets can be purchased online via the links on the ckub website. Also an idea to see if there are any discount vouchers for use in the catering or gift shops. I would think this a good site for people with children as there are many things for them to do at Longleat.

Be careful on approach road from A363, can be tight in places, observe time of entry and departure. Well maintained, friendly welcome and easy access to Festival of Light, just a short walk to the House. Plenty of shopping, supermarkets within a short distance. Don't miss a visit to Bradford on Avon! Highly recommended

First Time For Everything

This was our first visit to Longleat itself, had been to Centre Parcs previously; our first Centre Rally and Festival of Light. The site itself was immaculate. Pitches are generous with plenty of water and waste points within easy reach of your pitch. TV reception was intermittent, although you can plug into the booster system if you have a lead, something we will consider for next time. Staff were very helpful, especially when we had to nip off to the dealer to fix an electrical failure with our new caravan. The East Hampshire Centre Rally organisers had given us plenty of information about the ability to get discounted tickets for the Festival of Light online via the CC site. We bought 2 day tickets to make full use of the Festival of Light on night 1, and managed to get into the safari for the end of the second day once we had the van fixed. The approach route is well signed, just follow instructions and don't arrive earlier than asked. Yes the van did a get muddy front, but no more than other parts of the country in winter. Be watchful of safari visitors racing around the shared road for the final approach to site. We will definitely visit again in the summer.

Festival of Light - just yards away!

Visited this site to attend the rally for The Festival of Light. First visit to this site - access road is narrow - important to arrive/depart at recommended times! Given a friendly welcome on arrival by resident wardens. Very good facilities kept clean and tidy at all times - well done! Good size pitches and reliable hook up. Mobile reception on "3" rather poor other providers may be better. Would recommend this site for a family trip to the Safari Park. Would use this club site again. Many thanks to EDDC rally officers for a job well done.

first time and won,t be the last

This was our first time at Longleat and it will not be our last. the wardens were very helpful and friendly, the shower block was clean and lovely and warm, with plenty of hot water. The pitches were large and nicely spaced out, plenty of nice walks for both us and Maggie our Westie. A thumbs up for this site, and a thank you to the wardens for keeping it clean and tidy, well done.
