Midweek Break

What a pleasant surprise after having left the caravan club for a year and now re-joined to come across some friendly wardens that do not keep checking that you are abiding the rules of pitching up. Fantastic site and beautiful location - we will be back

Holiday at Longleat

We spent 4 nights at this site along with our daughter and son-in-law and their children and visited Longleat and Wookey Holes. We had two pitches together and set up in pouring rain! But after the bad start we had a great time and would highly recommend this site. It is great for kids as there is a family room for when that rain shower appears :). It is a five minute walk to Longleat Park so we could walk back to our caravans for lunch and then back into the Park. We will all definitely be back.

First Visit to Longleat

Staff and site could not be faulted. Noted previous reviews made reference to charge to enter Longleat, but can only comment that we had two day ticket which gave quality time for safari and house plus all other facilities, boat not to be missed. With 20% discount on food using Caravan Club members card derive significant benefit. Regarding ticket, compared cost for one/two days with entry to Lacock, sorry but National Trust nowhere near same value for money. All in all a most enjoyable week, with the benefit of being very much in the country.

One week stay at Longleat

As we are coming to the end of our one week stay at Longleat I thought I would leave a review.  Had a lovely stay here but you can no longer go into the Longleat Park without a valid ticket. To be honest once you have been into the park you would not want to pop back in for a coffee. It would have been to everyone's advantage for the members staying at Longleat caravan park to have a valid pass just to enter the park for a coffee or meal, but this is not to be. Places to visit in the area National Trust properties Stourhead and Lacock Village. A visit to Bath is a must and the Park and Ride is about 17 miles away.  Shame about the site not being so popular now as Longleat have withdrawn access for caravan members without a valid ticket but we still enjoyed our holiday and it was great not having too many neighbours. I think the site fees could be adjusted to attract more members to stay here.

A great short break

A lovely site next to Longleat Safari Park. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and friendly. The facilities were lovely and clean though some of the ceiling tiles in our wash block were stained. Not a big deal really. It was great to hear the animals next door especially the sea lions. Perfectly located for exploring the surrounding area and in a quiet out of the way location. Perfect. I just want to make one point. We went to the reccomended Horse an Groom pub and were very disappointed. The staff unfriendly to the point of rudeness ignoring our arrival completely. I thought we had strayed into Rosyston Vasey. The pub on the main road was a much better bet. Not a site issue of course. Overall a fantastic site one of the best we have stayed at

Nice well run site

Well sign posted albeit, I can understand why there are restricted arrival/departure times. The road in and out could be a bit of an issue if times not adhered to.A welcoming smile awaits you on arrival by the staff. The site was spotless as were the facilities. Any information required on places to eat are answered by the staff running the site at the reception area. Horse and groom up the road is worth a visit, we did two nights running. Apple and pear cider, delicious and I dont really drink! Next door to Longleat Safari Park and takes 3 minutes to the park. No need for a car to get you there, nor bikes as its on the level.  Never tried the WIFI as read previous reviews which stated that it was expensive and the signal was poor. I would add to this, that the signal is pretty much non existent. But we were told by staff that there was going to be fibre optic installed this year, but no time span given. As for the lions roaring, we never heard them at all in the three nights we stayed, but we did hear the Sea lions. Everyday !! All in all it was a pleasant stay and chippie on Friday evening at 6pm was tasty too. Asda about 3 miles away in Frome if needed and has a fuel station too. I recommend this site due to it being looked after and well run.

One of the best

Well signposted. Friendly welcome and staff always friendly no matter where you saw them.  Site well maintained and clean. Large pitches.  Shop very limited and expensive.  Nice to hear the animal sounds towards the end of our week stay.
