Lovely altogether

We were somewhat fearful of the last few miles, having read the reviews and instructions on how to get there. But it is easy, even for a big old grumpy campervan driven by a much older and equally grumpy bloke. All you need to remember is to use the road by the White Hart not the Red Lion. It's a bit twist, with the odd narrow bit but nothing bad. Talking of the Red Lion, the food there is pretty good and it's a Wadsworth's pub - the beer is excellent. We were greeted warmly on arrival, the shop is one of the better stocked CC places. They had no dog food, which pleased our little feller as he had to suffer corned beef and ravioli for a few days. Not much hardship there. They also sell TV coax, which is just as well as the reception is somewhere between non-existent and dreadful. This was a required purchase as I felt the need to watch England v Iceland but lets not go there. The site is spacious, big and quiet. It's easy to lose yourself for the first day or two. The first time I wandered over to the shower block (which was impeccably clean by the way) it took about a minute. Returning to the van took about five minutes, which is odd because I have a superb sense of direction. Strange to say, it's very convenient to Longleat Safari Park, there are also discounts on the tickets. I have no idea what Longleat is like as we didn't visit (don't ask, I was almost tempted as there is a rather good narrow gauge railway that runs along the back of the site. Don't worry, it's not intrusive. There are some great walks to be had - get an OS map from th shop, it's worth the expense. Great site, nice people and wonderfully clean and well kept. If you want to use the dodgy CC WIFI, choose your pitch carefully and the drongo's who installed it seem a tad clueless on RF transmitter location. The office has a very helpful map on WIFI reception. Yes, we'd visit again. Nice.

Disappointed in end of weekend

We stayed at this site for the weekend 1 July. It was half empty but lovely spacious pitches. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist. The site was beautifully kept with excellent facilities. Imagine my disappointment when a different lady was on reception on Sunday. I asked if we needed to hurry off the pitch (bearing in mind the site was half empty over the weekend). She looked horrified that I'd even asked and said yes because the road was hard to get in & out of at crossover time. I explained I wanted to go in my friends car to Bath (we drive a motorhome and find it difficult to get adequate parking) and we'd like to leave our van either on the pitch or in the late arrivals area so we could leave early evening. After heated words, the outcome was basically I could pay £23.50 for the extra night or leave. How unhelpful & with the attitude that I was stupid to even ask. For this reason I wouldn't go back again. I could understand if the site was overflowing but really! I choose to be a member of the Caravan Club but attitudes on sites like these would make me re-think my choice!

Brilliant site

A lovely site in a great location to visit Longleat safari park. We were greeted with a very warm welcome. The pitches are spacious and the site and facilities are extremely clean and tidy. It is a bonus to get discount on Longleat tickets and a friendly pub with good food is a 30 minute walk away. We loved it.

Superb site

A superb, spacious site set amongst trees. Very tranquil with just the sound of bird song and the occasion al train trundelling around the Longleat park. Oh and the sound of what I think were seals! I should stress we stayed mid-week in June. I imagine it will be a bit noisier during school holidays. Facilities were well maintained although the site was probably less than 50% occupancy. The site has good facilities for children, a playground and games room. The downside for us was the lack of suitable walks. You cannot walk through the Longleat Estate unless you pay the entrance fee. There are some bridleway walks but when we visited they were boggy. We will visit again if we want a quiet couple of nights away or bring a grandchild.

Pretty site

The trees and landscape make this one of the most pleasant locations and lovely little woodland dog walk. Take wellies for this. The pitches are not too close to each other. Experienced caravaners will have no problem with the access which is long and tight in places. You can hear some animal noise but have no idea what animals they are ! Makes for a great atmosphere. Recommend the site.

Perfect family site

We (family of 4) stayed for a long w/e and found this to be a perfect family site. The site is spotless and wardens very helpful/friendly.  On site, for the kids the playground was great and overall it was very safe for the kids to ride around the site on bikes/scooters and the baby/toddler washroom was ideal for cleaning the little ones up prior to bed. Off site, we purchased a 2 day ticket for Longleat (with CC discount), so visited the Adventure Park/Longleat House one day and Safari park the next day. The site location is perfect - you walk 5 mins from reception and you're into the Adventure Park/Longleat House section of Longleat which means you can pop into Longleat for the morning, back to the van for Lunch/rest and back again in the afternoon which is ideal. Its also only a 5 min walk to a Bus Stop which takes you round the Safari park. Access to the site was fine, some narrow roads on the final approach to the site, so arrival after 1pm is key to ensure you don't meet any caravans departing the site from the other way and have a stand-off.  We'll definitely visit again!.

Sounds good

We have just missed Elton John, so all was quiet. From our pitch we could hear a steady calming water fountain, this became noisier when the seals were fed as we found out at feeding times, but this was great, just what we came for. Generally a very quiet and very clean site. The weather was very wet but it didn't stop us getting out and about. We loved visiting the local area. The approaching roads are narrow and a bit off putting, which is why we have slightly down rated from perfect. We hired a car from Enterprise, (which we have done from other sites) but the service was awful. They arrived late(over an hour) and lied when we called to find out where they were. Don't be put off by this as we have previously had great service else where. The site and wardens were great so don't miss out.

Lovely Site

Really enjoy this site. The location is peaceful and handy for exploring the area. This visit was for my wife's birthday and to see Sir Elton John in the grounds of Longleat. A lovely time was had.  The only spoiler was a rowdy group of campers who ignored every request to Tone down their behaviour. I really felt sorry for the Wardens. One of the drunken group even started flying s drone which he then crashed fortunately not injuring anybody or damaging anything. Not the sort of behaviour we have experienced in our 10 years of membership. Apart from that we had a lovely time

Lovely clean site

We found longleat to be a spotless site However we made the mistake of visiting on a Bank holiday The staff were so friendly and the site was spotless even though fully booked Downside just a bit to busy and noisy and beware of the long winding lane up to the site We found this became crammed with cars queuing to entre longleat So to save being stuck on a country lane with the outfit We chose to leave the site early on the morning we left In our opinion great site wrong time to visit
