Longleat 2016

We have been to this site a few times now and as always the wardens are happy, friendly and helpful and the site is clean and well kept. We had grandkids aged 8, 12 and 13 with us and they enjoyed the table tennis room and the staff even put on extra games for the kids at certain times. We explored lovely Lyme Regis, walked from Lulworth Cove to Durdledore, went to the beautiful Stourhead and spent many happy hours fishing at Shear Water. Longleat Safari Park has gone down in our estimation, now without the birds of prey show and charging £5 each for the bus ride to see the monkeys on top of the expensive entrance fee. A word about the fish van, we would not buy again, frozen thin chips not cooked enough and awful batter on a raw fish. Care has always to be taken on the access road but it is manageable, although this year there seemed to be quite a few hot heads driving along it. We will return to the site, to enjoy the area in future years but the Safari Park has lost its charm.

Best site we have stayed on

This site is in my opinion the best club site we have stayed on it has great pitches is in an excellent location good wifi and great staff the road into it is a bit narrow in places but no problem if you take your time and watch out for locals who all must be late for work

Fantastic site!

Decided to stay here on a last minute caravan holiday....best decision we made! Beautiful caravan site, large pitches and the most friendliest welcoming staff you would want. There's a large family room, ping pong tables, a large wood to walk your dog which was fab for us! The toilet block was immaculate! Lovely hot showers and always clean. It's a two minute walk to Longleat Safari park which is awesome. If you're thinking of visiting Longleat, stay here. It's great. We are definitely returning!!

Great Site

Very spacious pitches & very well kept site. Access via the lane is OK just be alert to the locals on bends. Longleat Safari Park provided good value for money as every thing is inclusive except for the Safari bus which for £5.00 was well worth it.( monkys vandalise your car ! ) also we revisited Chedder caves, great day out & if you upgrade your ticket at the Safari Park it gives you a good saving on the entrance fee,

Glorious

A wonderful site. Lovely to be in a setting with mature trees all around. Generous and helpful staff (aren’t they all though?). Get there early on a Friday or the visiting chip van may run out of what you crave. We will look to come back. We opted for Tesco Clubcard vouchers as the cheapest option to visit Longleat. You may well struggle to do the whole of Longleat in a day and may want to consider a two day pass. We were there from 10:30 until 6:00 and didn’t get near to going in the house. The top tip they give for the drive through safari is go later in the day for shorter queues. We took over two hours to drive round and a good part of that was sitting and waiting. Completely worth it though.

In the middle of safari park!

Good side and brilliant for accessing the safari park. Our 3 year old thought hearing the sealions at night was great fun. So close to safari park you could just walk in. The safari train goes right past the campsite adding even more excitement for the little ones. Site very clean with lovely areas on the site for the children to play amongst the trees. As always though, there are always inconsiderate campers who decide the best place to walk their little dogs in in these areas even though there were good dog walking areas. Good little play area with the usual equipment a big hit. Staff helpful and friendly. Already booked to go back again later this year.

Longleat

Our 2nd visit to this lovely site. Wardens really friendly. Facilities spotless at all times. Safari park is great and excellent value for your money. Love to hear the sea lions whilst sat on the site. Good location for days out too. The Royal Oak pub up the road does great food.would definitely recommend this site to all.

sealions at night

This was our second year running at longleat and still as nice as ever. Narrow lanes on entry are a minor problem but not enough to stop us returning. site is lovely and surrounding towns are nice. cycle route 4 and 24 were a bonus as we took our bikes and national trust properties are not to far. Oh the sealions are loud some nights but that adds to the character of the site.

Lovely site

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Well maintained, toilet block really clean although some dirty people need to learn what a toilet brush is for!!! Right next door to the to the Longleat estate, we had a fantastic time in there with the whales day pass we bought. Was great listening to the sea lions daily, also heard the lions 1 night!! Would definitely recommend this site
