Speed limits?

Having spent a really nice and hot weekend at Longleat, I would like to know if cars are limited and rightly so to 5miles per hour, how can the state allow youngsters to tide around on electric scooters at speeds approaching 15 miles per hour.? Surely a danger to the rider, but more a danger to campers and caravans, they are silent and very fast,. Who would pay for any damage to property if this occurred.? I have rated the cleanliness average due to minors.(I only presume) think that loo paper belongs on the floor and non flushing, need I say no more. Overall a really nice site, very close to the safari park and entertainment area. Needs the staff to be aware of speed limits is not just for cars.

In need of some TLC

Just spent 4 nights at the lovely Longleat site with our 12 year old Granddaughter. We had a relaxing time on site but a very hectic time in the Park. The site is very well managed by the wardens but we felt the shower cubicles in particular could do with a bit of an upgrade especially concerning the water pressure. Staff were very helpful and gave us a very warm welcome on our arrival. The hanging baskets and tubs of glorious, golden yellow begonias were a beautiful sight for our very tired eyes(a six hour journey). To gain entry to the park members must purchase a ticket. You cannot just stroll in as was the case when we were last there in 2012. Pre-booking online using the Club's 20% discount and upgrading to a 2 or 5 day ticket makes the cost more reasonable. Our 5 day ticket for the three of us cost us just under £150 but, we made good use of the park and visited different attractions to suit us and we weren't rushing around to visit everything. All in all we had a very good time and more importantly our Granddaughter thought it was wonderful.

Disappointed

We were very disappointed that the Longleat estate have changed the goalposts. Caravanners used to be able to freely walk into the grounds, have a coffee (at a discount) and generally enjoy the environment all as part of being on the site. This also meant that you could walk or cycle up the drive to the Bath Arms (about 1 mile) which is a lovely pub. Now, to do any of that, you need to purchase a days pass or (to get to the pub) a six mile drive. Consequently, the site has become an extremely isolated bog standard club site with restricted access and not many facilities. Such a shame. We won't be going back

Surprised by site as a older couple with no kids...

I was a bit hesitant when my wife suggested staying here...just the two of us (and I'm no spring chicken) I thought this would be a site for young families - but we loved it. Quiet site in a lovely setting with great walks - of course we did Longleat which was great and brought back memories - the highlight for us was the anteaters...mum giving her (not now so) young one a piggy back was hilarious...Site staff were friendly, helpful and clearly work hard to maintain the standard of the site. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back soon.

Great site & good access to the Longleat estate

During the summer break I drop the caravan off at this site, so that my wife and children can spend some time away. We've done this before and the children link up with other children and (respectfully) play in the central green area, games such as cricket, frisby, kites, hide and seek etc. Unfortunately during this years visit the central green has now been utilised for tent camping, meaning that the central play area is in essence unable to be used or family activities. The children were advised not to play cricket (play set with a tennis ball) near to the caravans, despite the only caravan near to them was our own!! It's such a shame that these play areas are being lost, as there are far few areas for young children to play in a safe environment!! I'm a big fan of the Caravan & Motorhome club, I think they do a lot of things extremely well, but unfortunately I feel that this is a poor decision!!

Great site...

We've stayed at this site a couple of times (mainly because it's so close to home but you get that "get away" feeling when there.) The site is great - although a bit limited for families I'd say,but there's lots to do within the area itself - and the wardens are very friendly. Pitches are good, as always, and the facilities are more than adequate. I have to say that the dog walk is just great - a lovely small wooded area that our dog can't get enough of when we're there. Well worth stopping over in or spending a few days at.

Still a superb site.

This was our 3rd.visit in under a year, and as always the site didn’t disappoint in any way. Very friendly and helpful wardens, very clean toilet facilities, excellent dog walking areas & very well maintained grounds. The site is a bit remote if you’re a motor homer with no tow car (as we are) but for us that’s no problem. We’ve booked yet another visit there in September as part of another of our ‘Road Tour’ type holidays.

Great site but....

We went yet again to Longleat C&MH site with our grandaughter on our annual trip. The site is clean, tidy & the pitches have lots of space. The wardens are really friendly & welcoming. As many have said being so close to the Safari Park is fantastic & listening to the animals a joy. However I haven't given it 5 star ratings due to a few niggling issues. There is a small play park with a few pieces of equipment all very nicely done. On their info leaflet it says there is a field put aside for ball games etc but when we went to play tents were now on that field so it was impossible for us to play there & playing ball games amongst the caravans is a no, no. There are two toilets & facilities blocks either end of the park cleaned daily however the one nearest us is shut from 11:30-12:30 daily for cleaning. As we have to leave at 12:00 it means that when you want to do that last minute loo trip you have to walk to the other side of the park, not good if you have mobility issues. I don't understand why they don't clean it between 12 & 1 so its between people having left & those arriving. The park is a lovely place during the week. We stayed Monday to Saturday & were glad to be going as Friday night it was rammed & somehow that is when there is always some people who insist on playing their music loud & talking loudly until gone midnight. Not somewbere I'd stay at a weekend but fantastic for a 6 day break.
