We stayed here for a week 14th to 21st March 2023. We loved the whole experience. The renovations to the site are fantastic. The shower block has underfloor heating, is tastefully decorated and there is a divider to close off part of the shower block so there are facilities available during cleaning times.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. They work hard to keep the site looking perfect.
Electric car charging points are available. A lovely children's paly area near the amenities block.
A nice walk into Chirk were there is a butchers and greengrocers, both are excellent. The Teddy Bears Tearooms are great for a meal, afternoon teas or just a coffee. The Tearooms have a knitting wool shop attached and the selection of wools is huge. I wasn't able to resist buying some.
There are walks along the Llangollen Aqueduct with lovely view. Chirk station is close by with regular trains to Chester.
All in all a really perfect spot. We will certainly be back.
A Really Good Location
We had never stayed at this site and we were looking for a stopping point on our way to Mt Snowdon. What a delightful find this was. Easily accessible, well designed, very modern, all hardstanding and in such a brilliant location for NT Chirk Castle, Chirk Aquaduct and Tunnel, Pontcysyllte Aquaduct and Llangollen etc.
We stayed in late March and had a superb hardstanding pitch with everything we needed close by. For those, like us, with a motorhome there are two very good corner type Spar shops in Chirk, a Catholic Church and miles of towpath walking and exploring. I cannot fault this site, it was virtually full and very quiet in late March. We will return. It is also well placed just off the A5 if you are heading to North Wales, or to spend time in this very attractive part of Wales. Our satellite and Smarty SIM cover for broadband was all very good.
Flagship Site
An attractive site with good size pitches and plenty to do without driving anywhere. Excellent rail and bus links, walking and cycling along the Shropshire Union Canal and NT Chirk Castle on the doorstep. We are already planning what we are going to do when we revisit.
Our Favourite and such excellent Wardens
Agree with all the plaudits, but just wanted to add an extra gold star for the wardens. Always friendly and helpful.
We were particularly grateful for their help earlier this week with dealing with the snow !
Just perfect and immaculate. Plus there's a hint of chocolate in the air......
Have to say that this is the best site ever.
We've been on a few sites and this has to top them all.
We understand from talking to the warden, that is was only opened in December due to the refurbishment. I have to say that it's amazing. We like the new design to the shower/toliet block. No more need of closing the whole block off whilst cleaning.
Pitches felt bigger. The accessible (family) room was bigger and I couldn't fault it.
It's a beautiful campsite and with two little ones, they enjoyed the playground and grounds.
Short walk away is the Llangollen canal "Chirk Bank". Wonderful walk, you get to see the Chirk Viaduct, walking along the Aqueduct we headed toward The Poachers Pub. A great stop off for a bite of lunch.
Chirk castle is also a walk away.
Wardens are so friendly and welcoming.
We would definitely be going back as we haven't seen everything that Chirk and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Our favourite site
This is our favourite site , we live close by and visit here approx 5 times a year. The refurbished facility block is top draw, instant hot water and heated floors. Because of the clever design the block does not need closing for cleaning and is always open. Next door is the grounds of Chirk castle which are great for walking your dog and bird watching. The Llangollen canal which leads to the world heritage site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is 5 mins walk away. Not all is great though, the club wifi is appalling and the TV signal is poor. I'm amazed the club didn't address these 2 issues when the site was closed for the 13 month refurb.
How all CAMC sites should be
Stayed here for the first time for 3 nights in Feb, and was very glad we did. Site wardens were welcomimg, helpful and patient with regards to our requests for info. The site was busy but not noisy (recognising it was mid Feb), and the pitches were well maintained and mostly flat. The grass around the toilet block was still settling down when we were there after the works last year so was not something to be critical about. The new modern toilet block was what we would expect from a CAMC site, and it was nice that it is designed with the option to only shut half of it down for cleaning at a time, thus avoiding the pre 10am rush! We brought our bikes with us and did the lovely if somewhat bumpy 20m return ride to Llangollen via Trevor Marina and the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct (which was unfortunately shut for maintenance). The walk to and around Chirk Castle grounds was fabulous, especially with the Snowdrops in bloom, and we also had a walk into Chirk. We tried the Hands Hotel for a drink and some food for dinner, both were very good, as was the Caffi Wylfa too To be fair we had some nice dry weather for Feb which always make a break feel better, but we were both well impressed with Lady Margarets and hope that this is the new vision of the CAMC
All time favourite
First visit back here since the refurbishment. Stayed on a fully serviced pitch, all of which are excellent. The refurbishment includes an amazing shower block, with a partition wall which means they are never closed, as they are cleaned in two halves. The site wardens were incredibly friendly. We don’t have young children but the play area looks fabulous. As always local walks are aplenty. Village of Chirk is a short walk away, with shops, butchers, pubs and restaurants. The walk to Chirk Castle is lovely. If you want a takeaway then we recommend Castle Tandoori. We visit here a couple of times of year as it’s not far from home, and it remains our favourite site.
Money well spent
We have stayed at Lady Margaret's Park site previously and can say that we approve of the improvements made during the redevelopment. The site is much more appealing now. The location is a good choice for a relaxing time, we can highly recommend it to one and all looking for excellent site facilities and a good base for walks along the canal, etc.
Amazing Club Site
Stayed for Christmas and New Year, beautiful refurbished site in the woods. Excellent toilet block and location is idyllic next to Chirk Castle grounds.
Easy access in and out of the site and very peaceful. Lovely to hear the owls at night a real treat to know you are in nature, what a blessing. Managers are lovely and welcoming.
The site sets the bench mark for the others sites that need a little TLC.
