1st Time In Our Motorhome

First time in our Motorhome and we couldn’t have picked a better site to visit. Lady Margaret’s staff were helpful and made the booking in easy. Pitch was exactly as described, we went for a premium pitch with it being the first time…it didn’t disappoint. Everywhere was immaculate, the toilets were amazing and clean. You have your own shower cubicle with a seat, hooks, massive hot shower and even hair dryers. Service points were clean as well. Just a brilliant stay and can’t wait to go back in December. Oh If it couldn’t get any better the Fish and Chip Van is there on a Friday night ! Thank you again Lady Margaret’s !

Fab site

This is a fab site. Third stay this year it has everything. August school holidays. The hardstanding pitches are a good size. The toilets etc are new and nicely done. They don't close them for cleaning as they have two separate entances in each and an internal door so they can clean one half then the other. The staff are friendly and helpful. The site is very well maintained. Location is very convenient for walks along the canal, the towns facilities and shops are close by, trains and buses a near too. Chirk Castle is a nice walk. Chip van on a Friday evening is good and reasonably priced. Very quiet from about 9pm and its not too brightly lit. There can be a quiet humming noise from the nearby factory but only because its so quiet on the site. Will be back soon.

Good upgrade but....

Stayed here first week in August this year. Very good upgraded site. Excellent wash facilities with large alternative when cleaning going on. Could take issue with the obviously expensive new swift check in system. Whats the point? Its a long, wide access road to the site, can't see congestion being a problem. Money could be better allocated to improving other site basics. Nice walking area. Shropshire Sculpture Park well worth a visit, sculptures made from scrap metal in many cases. Information can be a little misleading states 1and half miles to Chirk Castle. This is driving to the castle entrance, don't confuse it with walking from the site which is 2 and a half miles uphill from the beautiful white gates by the club entrance. We would return but probably for longer. Good touring location.

Excellent - Perfect for walking & peaceful getaways

What a beautiful site, beautiful location and peaceful. The weather was awful whilst we were there but it didn't stop it being a relaxing weekend. The facilities are excellent, with the newly refurbished toilet / shower block. The site was tidy, clean and well maintained. Pitches were great, spacious and having a serviced pitch was so easy. If like us you happen to be staying when it's raining (heavily), I would advise, if possible to not set up under the trees as it gets quite noisy when the storms come but overall it was amazing and we'll definitely be making a return visit. When we did venture out, the views and walks around the park are wonderful, with the aqueduct having amazing views across the forest. Albeit we didn't have children with us, there seemed to be plenty for them to do, in terms of the playground and places to cycle.

Excellent upgrade

We do agree with other members about the bins being located at the toilet block, other than that the site is lovely. Does lack the personal touch in the office, and not even able to buy an ice cream !! Other members cutting across pitches to use the facilities instead of walking on the paths is quite annoying, and I personally find it rude, new dog walk is an improvement, unfortunately our dog was attacked by another ( both on leads ) , which cost us nearly £100 at the vets, who was extremely helpful. I wish I had reported this officially, as she has at 15 years old been knocked for six !! but this is no reflection on the site. All in all we would love to return again.

Fantastic refurb!

We visited this site many years ago when it was very tired and in need of an update. We decided to return with our son and granddaughter now that it has been reopened; what a change, what a makeover! The new automatic entry recognition is a brilliant addition, so no more key cards to remember. Easy and swift entry. The pitches are spacious, level and very pretty. The gravelling is excellent and well maintained. Now the toilet block: amazingly spotless; extremely well appointed; plentiful hot showers; wallpaper scenes of the park line the walls. Great children's play area and a good circuit for children to zoom round on their bikes. That said, the site was extremely quiet. In recent years we've tended to stay on CLs, but we would return here happily. The surrounding area offers many activities including Chirk Castle, walking and cycling. We enjoyed a cycle along the canal towpath over the aqueduct towards Oswestry. The village of Chirk is very pleasant and we enjoyed a curry in the Castle Tandoori. The wardens were helpful and friendly. Finally, I personally had no problems with the bins being located in one area. If you take your rubbish when going to the block or when going out for the day you should be fine.

recent stay

Spotless, peaceful site and fabulous facilities block. Used the new recognition entrance and it was smooth. perhaps a few more bins in the ladies would be good. One thing was the info on public transport was poor. No taxis available on Mondays from LLangollen, However you can catch a number 64 little bus the last one leaves 530 ish from Llangollen . It runs every 2 hours. Wasnt clear how you caught it from camp site. Luckily we avoided the 9.5 mile walk back along the tow path . Very screnic walk across viaduct just didnt want to do 18 miles in one day. Please make the info more available to campers.

Grass pitch?

We ignored the trial fast check-in option at this site, choosing instead to do things the old-fashioned way, getting a smile from a real human being at reception. We'd booked all our caravan holidays for this year back around Christmas last year so when told we had booked a grass pitch I could do no more than agree, with a shrug of my shoulders. This site has a major revamp last year and the majority of the pitches are hard standing. Indeed only eleven grass pitches are shown on the plan. However, the "grass" had suffered from the very dry weather, leaving about 50% of weedy green stuff, 50% bare soil, and some of these pitches had been withdrawn from use completely. In short, we were given a choice of two pitches, both with a good covering of rabbit poo and the occasional ankle breaker rabbit holes! If you book "grass" you expect grass and no, it wasn't remotely level either. On a more positive note, the new toilet and shower was the best we've ever experienced. At last somebody has managed to include a simple bench seat and screen, out of the range of the shower spray, with ample hooks to hang ones clothes. Why has it taken so long? Good, but could be even better with some tweaks.

A few tiny tweaks would make it perfect

Fast check-in was brilliant, no need to get out of the car. Shower block was spotless and clean. Only negatives were that there is only one main rubbish area near the toilets, bit of a pain walking there with your rubbish when the service points are so close. Also, for the price you pay per night you'd expect aerial booster/plug ins for the TV. Couple of downpours whilst we were there and we were unable to get a decent signal, even though we have a booster in our van. When I asked at reception he acknowledged the signal was rubbish! Walks to the aqueducts are easy to access, just by the railway bridge - lovely flat walks by the canal. In Chirk, Star Chippy and Asian Wok Chinese were both delicious.
