Excellent place to stay

This was our first stay and if we had had the time we would have stayed longer. There is lot of space between the pitches although the ground was rock hard and we couldn't pitch our awning (major issue when all you have is a T6). Thankfully a very kind neighbour leant us a set of metal hard ground spikes so that sorted the problem out. The staff were very helpful, the facilities were spotless, as was the whole site. Very quiet location. It's a tidy but easy walk in to Knarseborough (very highly recommended). There is a bus route but we never saw one. There is a restaurant on site but we never had the chance to use it. The local Guy Fawkes Inn is also highly recommended. This is not a pub grub pub but some properly finely cooked food for not silly money, and a good pint if needed as well. We will definitely have this on our to do list for the future.

A truly lovely site

Booked last thing and managed to get two nights at Knaresborough before going on to Whitby. From the time we entered the site, we were impressed. The wardens were polite and helpful, the pitches looked immaculate, the campsite looked well maintained, and the facilities, whilst reduced, were spotless. One of the best CMC sites we have stayed on. Didn't use the bar on site, but had a takeaway pizza which was gorgeous. 40m walk by road to Knaresborough, or an 80m walk via Nidds Gorge. Lovely town, vibrant and has good connections to Harrogate - bus every 7 mins. Bus stop outside entrance to York and to Knaresborugh. Will certainly return when we are heading North.

Hidden Gem with an on-site restaurant and bar!

We had heard much about Harrogate and Knaresborough so thought we would stop off for a couple of extra nights en-route to the North East and Stop-off to break the journey on the way back for 1-night. All of the facilities were open, clean and covid-compliant. The ambience was one of a smaller site nestled into the heart of the countryside. Ideal for nearby Ripley Castle, Cycle routes and Nidd Gorge. On both stops our pitches were level. We cannot fault it. In fact we were surprised there was a restaurant at all. The Wanderer has some history within the club and deserves special mention, as does the chef and the front-of-house "maitre d'", Will. Charming young man with quick wit and repartee and a good insight into how to keep customers happy. Busy spinning plates most of the evening we were delighted with the meals we had on both stops - at least as good quality as you would get in a decent hotel. So a thank you to Will, and the other staff and stewards who were at various times, cutting hedges, weeding, smartening and generally tidying the site up. We cycled to Ripley castle and then into Harrogate along NCN route 67 from Ripley castle - a lovely route that ends in the main Asda car park in Harrogate. Likewise the walk around Nidd Valley brings you out in Knaresborough where the station and its nearby houses and central square are steeped with history. A great site and ideal base - certainly one we will will re-visit. Highly recommended.

Best Site So Far

I took my mother for a 2 night stay here early June 2021 and was mightily impressed by the site layout, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. It’s by far the best club site that I have visited in England and I will return when able. Well done do all the staff involved, you are a credit to the Club.

Lovely site well worth a visit

We visited BH weekend and wow what weather! So lucky to sit outside every evening with a glass of wine. It’s a Well maintained site with clean facilities. It fits the usual C&MC standards with large pitches etc. Decent dog walk and area to clean muddy paws which was good. Small village of Scotton just down the road with a pub which we didn’t try but looked nice. Knaresborough itself is a 40 mins walk away on a main road, or an hour via the scenic route which is beautiful but steep and muddy in parts. Beautiful town well worth a visit. There is an On site restaurant called the wanderer which is lovely and worth a visit. We also visited Harrogate which is much bigger and got a great selection of shops if that’s your thing. Pately Bridge is a short drive away and is quaint with cafes and shops. The best days for us were the drives out to the moors for long walks around Grimwith and Gouthwaite Reservoirs. This is our favourite thing to do, and the only downside to this site for us was that we had to drive to do the things we love. All in all it’s well worth a visit.

Fantastic site.

Fantastic site. Beautiful location, well maintained and set out. So much to do and see nearby. This was our second visit (couple with a teenager) and I very much doubt it’ll be our last.

Immaculate site, great location

Hard working staff keeping the site spotless. Lots of flowers were being planted when we were there mid May. Staff were doing their utmost to keep everyone COVID safe unfortunately the odd member didn’t follow the rules - on one occasion a member not wearing a mask was shouting their order at the staff from outside the Wanderer when it was clear that orders were to be placed by telephone and masks were to be worn when collecting. We enjoyed the Wanderer Burger and Chicken Burger takeaway. It was ready spot on time and very hot. Dog walking field was quite muddy when we visited with lots of rabbits running around. Lovely to see but unfortunately we couldn’t let our dog off the lead or we might never have seen her again 😀. Perfect location for visiting other towns/villages, we particularly enjoyed Harrogate and Ripley Castle.

Very Pleasant stay with the excellent Bristo now open also

Stayed at the club site at Knaresborough and had a very pleasant stay, many thanks to the site wardens who were very helpful and all the staff in the Bistro who provided a warm welcome and excellent food made with food supplied locally. I wish the new Wanderer Bisto all the success, we were very happy customers.

Lovely Site with great Facilities

If you are looking for a nice relaxing stay then the club site at Knaresborough is second to none. Conveniently situated off the A59 and A61 there is good access to the local town and also Ripon, Harrogate and a little further York. This was my first but won't be my last stay here! There is good separation between pitches with small beech hedges and the woodland behind is teeming with Birds twittering and signing all day. Lovely escape from out house. The facilities available are great, but unfortunately due to covid regs, the Wanderer Bistro was still shut. Had a look and it really looks nice so we will be back again.

Let down by the site staff

Of course, with the current restrictions, I'm happy to follow all the extra signs to keep everyone safe. As these change from site to site, I know this sometimes makes life more complicated. That isn't any excuse for the site staff to scowl at us and to be unbelievably rude just because their instructions are contradictory and inaccurate. On both occasions we tried to book in, the office was deserted, and there was just a misleading notice telling us to wait. When we finally did track someone down, we were blamed for the way the site was operated.
