Site. One of the most peacefull sites we've been on Wildlife in abundance, squirrels, rabbits, jays and on a walk saw a vixen and four Cubs.Good short or longer walks from site 90 min walk into Kendal. Looking forward to going back.

Bliss!

We arrived 2 pm Saturday afternoon, easy site to find, road network easy to navigate and the narrow lane on approach not too bad with spaces to pass along it. Lovely lady at check in, we had 82 which was a fully serviced pitch. We brought extra length of pipes but in the end we didn't need it but they do sell it in the shop which was really well stocked. We were in a small cul de sac of sorts for 4 vans, it felt secluded and very peaceful and plenty of room between pitches. We parked so we had the forest view out of our bedroom window and our nearest neighbours couldn't see in. Toilets and showers immaculate, and the wardens were busy doing and very very friendly. The river runs along side so next time we will be bringing the dog, he will love it here too.A quick trip into kendal was all we could manage before tea alfresco. It truly is a lovely tranquil site and we all definitely be back very soon as we had a wonderful night away.

Great Location and Site

The site facilities are very clean and the wardens are cheerful and helpful.  We really enjoyed our seven night stay and will definitely be back.  In general the pitches are in small areas of around 5-8 vans which gives a feeling of privacy.  Great walks without using the car.  Lots of places to visit with the car, we would highly recommend the 2 Sisters cafe at Plumgarth Farm, only a small cafe with restricted menu but great food and first class coffee.

A shady spot

A nice place to stay to visit Cumbria, stayed for one night to visit my Mum who lives in Kendal. Lots of alcoves amongst the trees, very shady, great for a hot day. Note to self, don't pitch under trees when it's raining as the rain drips off the leaves. A very interesting site as it used to be a gunpowder mill, lots of interesting buildings dotted about. Nice walk across the river to a disused canal?? Beware the wobbly bridge and remember...no more than 25 at a time!!

Tranquil woodland site

Stayed here last weekend to try out my new motorhome. The site is so peaceful, set in beautiful woodland with a lovely river running along side. Having booked a serviced pitch the reception staff helpfully advised what length of hose and waste pipe would be needed for each of the pitches and which were still available so I was able to find a suitable pitch for my plumbing! They also had the number of a local dog friendly taxi company that had a set rate into Kendal which we used on the Sunday. The road to the site is narrow so was a bit unfortunate that some folks were arriving very early, well before the 1pm check-in time and caused a bit of a tight squeeze on the road as we were leaving at around 11:45. Toilet facilities were very clean and some lovely walks around the site, especially along the river. Not a site for those looking for sun and open spaces but perfect if you like to be in amongst the trees. Shall definitely be back!

Brilliant !

We stayed for two nights at this site with our dog and our new caravan. What a place ! We drove into Ambleside, when we returned to the site we walked to the pub (Strickland Arms) for dinner and a few beers. The site is very relaxing, we were given a brilliant pitch with the awning facing the woods. We asked for a quiet pitch as we have a sensitive Border Collie! The staff were great very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning to this site as its ideally situated for the lakes.

Too Shady

Although the private alcoves were very peaceful they were mostly surrounded by many tall trees providing too much shade. Toilets were clean but could do with updating. Staff were friendly and helpful regarding walks.

Idyllic site

The Kendal site is a hidden gem and we really enjoyed our stay. Our pitch was in a wooded glade (like most on the site) and was a relaxing place to be.The facilities were modern and clean with plenty of water and waste points dotted around the site. We have a dog and the proximity of walks and the river made our stay perfect. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We live in Cumbria and surprisingly this was our first visit to this site but we will certainly be coming to this site again ,perhaps for longer next time! My only comment would be that perhaps another sign closer to the site along the mostly single track access road would reassure visitors that they are on the right road and nearly there! All in all a great site and great base for visiting the south Lakes attractions.

A Hidden Gem

We stayed four nites, this is not long enough for this site. The staff are great. The Caravan Club should really look after staff like them. Facilities are very clean. The walks are fantastic, along the river or thru the woods. So peacfull, and lots to do in the surrounding area. We will stay a lot longer the next time we are in the area.
