A perfect site

Have stayed here many times en route to Scotland, but decided this time to spend 5 nights here (and the sun shone). The wardens are very helpful and keep the site in excellent condition. The peaceful site is in a lovely location being in the woods associated with an old gunpowder mill. It is right beside a river which is easily accessible and there are numerous lovely walks along the river or through the woods. Being early May, we had no problem reaching the Northern lakes one day, although in summer I would say the traffic in Windermere and Ambleside might make this journey difficult, but it is a great location for the Southern lakes and only just 3.5 miles off the motorway. For families, there is a play area, but this site would reach the imagination of any child, and great fun would be had in the woods and surrounding area. I would highly recommend this site, but be warned as apparently the site has had some new drains on some of the pitches and we saw one motorcaravan (not a heavy one either) get stuck as the drain collapsed. Message being, avoid the drain covers when reversing onto the pitch.

Very helpful friendly site

Really enjoyed our stay at this site. As new motor homers we were grateful for the advise staff gave us and they were very friendly too. The site is shaded by trees and pitches are in small groups dotted around the site. The toilet facilities were good and very clean. Showers were hot and there was also laundry facilities. It’s a 20 minutes walk to the pub and an hours walk along a lovely wide river to Kendal.

Perfect :-)

Probably my favourite site from all the sites we have visited since getting our van last year, beautiful location, very clean , very quiet, Lots of walks to do right from the site, and a great base for heading further north in to the lakes..

Tranquil, but a big site

We stayed 1 night on out way home from touring Scotland, it's amazing location, the site I believe is 120+ pitches but it's set out in such a way u feel like you in a small woodland area. We pitched near the entrance, facilities and reception, and relaxed with a walk across the woodland/fields too the village pub, picturesque walk . The facilities block is warm, clean and has everything needed. The staff were friendly and helpful We will definite be returning too this site

A great Site

We stayed over the easter weekend and arrived once the park had filled up a bit. We still managed to find a decent pitch but there are some great little pitches if you can arrive early enough. the staff were really helpful with any questions we had and we were always welcomed with a smile . The showers are clean and as good as at home. Set in peaceful woodland with a lovely riverside walk through the park, this site is in a great location. Windermere is around 20 minutes by car. All in all, we would definitely return here and enjoyed our stay.

Excellent

We stayed on a serviced pitch right at the end of the season. Very convenient for the motorway . We love the way the pitches are spread out amongst the trees, giving more privacy. Be prepared to have to tow your caravan up slopes as it is a hilly site.

Peaceful Location

We stayed at this site recently for a weekend, it was our first visit. The site was very easy to get to and although access road is narrow, there are passing places but It was very quiet on the site so we did not encounter any problems with access. The wardens were helpful and friendly and the pitches were easily accessible. It was a lovely quiet site with walks directly from the site itself. There is a pub in walking distance where you can get meals from and a farm shop for fresh supplies with a cafe. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast one morning. The shower and toilet block were well maintained and very clean. There were many places to walk your dogs so long as they are on the lead. We didn't have any children with us so not sure about entertainment for the children. Kendal is very near for grocery supplies but there is a small shop for basic supplies on site. There is a fish and chip van that visits the site on a Friday tea time which was very nice. A very nice visit and would certainly go again and would recommend it to others to try especially if you like the peace and quiet of the country side.

Brilliant site

This is one of our favourite sites. We have visited this site regularly since 1987!!!!!!! We have never found any faults with it. The wardens are tremendous. The site is so rugged and pretty with a few communal sites and lots of single and two or three locations. It is wonderful for families and it is the favourite site for our two springers(they never get bored here). We visited 4th October to 9th October 2017. We will be back!!!!

Nice site, great wardens, pity about the weather

We just spent 3 nights here as we had need to visit Kendal. We were greeted by very friendly and cheerful lady wardens. The site facilities were very clean. The negative came on Wednesday 11th when it rained hard for most of 24 hours. This meant that it was a bit difficult to sleep due to the continuous water and debris falling from the trees. However, worse was to come, as the stream that flows through the site overtopped its banks and careered down the road, removing the edge of our pitch. One of the wardens very kindly deposited some gravel to stop the water running over the pitch. Later, when it stopped raining and the torrent stopped flowing, it revealed a trench a foot wide and deep between our pitch and the road. The same warden came back with his digger and filled enough of the ditch for us to get out. They were all unfailingly cheerful and helpful in spite of the depredations of the weather. Full marks to them!

Explosively excellent.

Wow what a lovely place, cannot fault at all. We enjoyed our visit to Kendal, we went on the spur of the moment and really liked it, we even arranged to stay a extra day while we was there, the Kendal site will definately be seeing us again again. If you have already been there you will understand my review title if your going you will find out, its very interesting what the site used to be, the booklet you can borrow from the reception was a very interesting read about the sites history. The chips and fish van is great too mmm lovely. Thanks to Kendal and the wardens well done see you again.
