short summer break

a really nice site, very friendly staff and nicely laid out pitches. will go back again - the local pub (the Flintlock) does really nice meals and a great atmosphere. - Highly recommended.

Peaceful holiday but lots of things to do round about

We have been to the Ilminster CC site several times and always enjoy our stay. We were surprised how empty it was during our stay in August and had a lovely open pitch with nobody around us. We find Ilminster easy to reach (seconds from the A303 but no traffic noises) and good to use as a base for sightseeing. This visit took us to The Buckham Fair on the hills above Beaminster (fabulous views) which is organised by and held on land belonging to the actor Martin Clunes and his wife; a fabulous day out for a £5 pp entry fee and we saw Doc Martin and his little Jack Russell. On another day we drove up to Porlock Weir on the coast (beautiful and not too touristy, nice pub and gift shop and about an hours drive from the site) and wandered around in the glorious sunshine and saw Ben Fogel filming something for Countrywise. Quite a star studded week! We also went to Sidmouth to see the donkeys but didn't see anyone famous there apart from Gareth the donkey who grinned at us. The Donkey Sanctuary is FREE to enter, there's easy access for wheel chairs, things to do for the children, a restaurant and gift shop. Dogs ARE allowed AND there are NO car parking charges. Worth a visit everyone, it was so lovely we could have gone back every day. We were asked if we wanted to adopt Gareth for £24 per year but there wasn't room in the caravan or the boot of the car to take him home but the staff (lovely, gentle folk) pointed out that Gareth wouldn't be coming home with us to live in our garden but would remain in the sanctuary but would keep in touch by email and he'd send us a photo of himself in the post. Yes, next year or before, we'll be back at lovely old Ilminster to see Gareth and his friends and try out some more of the wonderful places to visit in Somerset and Devon.

LOVED THIS SITE

Visited site for couple nights at short notice and was really pleased we did. The site has friendly wardens, is well looked after and the facilities are spotless. The only down side, which the site has no control over, is the traffic on the main road as you turn into the lane for the campsite so best to make sure you've read the directions given by the campsite when approaching.

Peacefull and clean

Just come back from a week at this site and we had a very relaxing time. Wardens were very friendly and helpful and the whole site is so clean and tidy. The fenced in dog area was brilliant, I wish all sites had one. Lots of great dog walks and pubs around the area. Would definitely return

spotless and peaceful site

Site well kept, we could choose our pitch, friendly welcome, modern, clean facilities and no push button showers, which is ace. Site is quite rural, but if you want peace and quiet and like to walk or cycle, this is the site for you.

Lovely over night stay

We stopped off on our way to devon, The wardens were so welcoming and extremely friendly which was lovely after a 5 hour drive with 2 kids.  Beautiful kept site, clean and peaceful.  Not really for kids but a great stop off.  toilets outstanding and a good little dog walk.  will defiently return. Big thumbs up to the wardens x

A good stop-over

We have used this site for one night stays several times and find it excellent, if a little pricy as we don't need the toilet facilities.

Great Site

This was our 1st Club Site visit and we were impressed. Yes the access road is a bit narrow but you only have to drive a few hundred meters on it. I would definately recommend turning left back onto the main road though, turning right is well dodgy! The lady on reception was very jolly and the site on arrival makes a very good, well cared for impression. After pitching up on our chosen pitch, I inspected the shower/toilet block, I have stayed at lots of campsites all over Europe (I don't live in the UK) and these are probably the best I have seen, they look brand new and were extremly clean. The pub up the road does excellent, good value for money meals.

It is what it is
