Excellent Site

This is our second stay at this lovely site. Both times we’ve stayed on the newer part of the site - this time on a grass pitch. The toilet block is excellent; modern and clean. The wardens look after the site well and are very friendly. The site is flat, nicely laid out and with a variety of pitches to suit families or couples. It’s good for an overnight stay as it’s near an M5 junction or for a longer stay.

Arrived home Sunday after a marvellous holiday at Hurn Lane. Staff super friendly. Site super clean and well maintained. Facilities spotless The area was exactly what our family needed. Lots to do and see. (Wookey Hole, Weston Grand Pier, Brean downs, Burnham-on-Sea, Cheddar Gorge, clevedon to name but a few) We will definitely return. Thank you Hurn Lane!

A bit disappointed

We hardly ever use CAMC sites preferring CLs. However as we were picking up the caravan from the dealer who is not far away, we elected to pay the extra for a fully serviced pitch at a cost of £33.10 for a couple for the one night. No issues with very polite and helpful warden who directed us to the fully serviced pitch area. It was then that we discovered that the bollard for the electric and water was inbetween two pitches and halfway down the pitch and we were on the offside of the bollard. To connect water an extension hose is required as there is no way that the normal 7-8m water connection will reach the connection. I guess this was the reason why some caravans were using aquarolls on fully serviced pitches with water connections. Why on earth have the bollard in the middle between two caravans? We had to run the connection hose under the caravan and if we had an awning up this may have presented us with another issue. I doubt if we will ever use this site again as have now found one not too far away where each pitch has its own independent bollard with water connection and cost less than the CAMC site.

very disappointed

After staying at this site for many years , We were very disappointed to see travellers aloud to stay on site they,re vehicles were parked on grass between pitches and even more disappointed to see under age children driving a high powered car around site all weekend around one way roads the wrong way , with children playing on site this should never be aloud to happen . We hope this is not the future of the club many other members made comments about this

Comment from the Club

As an inclusive organisation, and bearing in mind the law on these matters, the Club do not discriminate against any particular individuals or groups and membership is open to all. With the size of membership that we enjoy, which helps fund the facilities everyone benefits from, diversity across our membership is inevitable. Any unwelcome behaviour from members or guests is always handled appropriately and where necessary, suitable follow up action is taken. Our Regional Manager is currently at Hurn Lane Club campsite and can confirm that all is well on the campsite and there is no one breaking any Club Suite rules. The site staff are also on hand to discuss any concerns you may have when staying with us.

Very unhappy

Been coming to this site for many of years I'm very surprised that caravan Club allow travellers on the site there's two families on the site and one family allow they under age boys to joyride around the site from morning to night in a high performance bmw totally unacceptable if this is what caravan Club sites have come to then I'm going to think twice on joining again next year not Happy at all

Take care when approaching the site

My wife, granddaughter and my self spent Easter at this site, the third time visiting this site. The site is clean and tidy and wardens friendly. Take care when walking to beach / local amusements as road does not have a footpath and there are several blind corners. When arriving take extra care when turning left off Red Road into Hurn Lane as the junction has several very deep and wide pot-holes which look big enough to do some serious damage. It is more dangerous when leaving turning right into Red Road as the junction is tight, so to avoid the holes you need to take the on-cuming lane but due to high bushes visibility is poor. These pot holes have got larger each year, I trust the club are applying pressure to the local authority to get the junction repaired and the bushes trimmed. If you intend to go swimming or taking kids to the Brean Splash Waterpark, you need to book the date and time on- line but you can only book at a maximum of 3 days before you wish to go. And it costs £9 each for a 90 minute visit. Burnham on Sea is a nice little town with a traditional shopping street. Motorhomes take note, you can park in the public car park to the Back of B&M and can park on the beach at Brean and Weston-Super-Mare.

Overall very good

There was no issue with the narrow lane - very short distance to the site entrance no hassle at all. The site was not too busy when we visited for 3 nights. One shower block was closed but this did not matter as the site was not full. We had a serviced pitch which was excellent. The dog walking area was pretty small so we did not use it. The site was well maintained both grounds and facilities. Shower block is looking a little tired but was spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Play area was closed for repairs - check before you book if you have children Local eateries and pubs were not to our taste (walking distance) Further afield there was more choice - particularly like the Red Cow at Brent Knoll

Not for us….

Difficult access to site down a narrow lane. A sign post pointing to the site at the end of the lane would be reassuring for first time visitors. The newer shower block was closed as the site was quiet and the older block could do with a revamp. Not the usual standards we would expect from the club. Slightly less than welcoming at reception, and we would have preferred a shop for essentials on site. Pitches were good and the site is tidy but the nearby town of Brean is tired, although Western Super Mare was lovely and its an easy bus ride from the site. There was a fair bit of noise from the adjacent static caravan park at gone midnight! We used the site as a stopover from the M5 but wouldn’t use it again.

Old school location

Good site with excellent walk to beach from site which has a good cafe for coffee before returning. Wardens nice and site maintained very nicely. Break only disappointment is lack of cleanliness in toilet blocks. Cobwebs / spiders in all corners that are obviously never cleaned. Also each evening toilet block is 'used' by some with zero hygiene principles, paper missing, unflushed loo with no paper - how do people live like this ?? Also, what's the latest on a 'quiet time' from 10pm inferring - I do hope this is not a way of stopping outdoor socialising from the ever more governed CAMC.

A great family base to explore from

We stayed at Hurn Lane for a week's break in the summer holidays. The site boasted the usual excellent club standards of cleanliness, organisation and a friendly atmosphere. There were lots of children on site who the kids love to play with after our days out but everyone was in quiet and enjoying company in their awnings and caravans once the sun was down which suited us perfectly. Walking anywhere directly from site seemed a little too dangerous for our group of young kids so we used the site as a base and quickly discovered nearby places of interest to explore. Weston Super Mare had all the charm of an English Seaside town. We found it was crucial to check the tide times to make sure you go at high tide (unless your children are content to make sand castles without going in the water). We had a particularly lovely day by chance when we went to see the Weston Marine Lake only to discover it was closed due to silt. We bought some very reasonably priced crab lines from the lovely volunteers in the RNLI shop near Birkbeck bay and were directed along the coastline to the nearby Birbeck cove where the crabbing did not disappoint! Plus there was a wonderful Cove Cafe selling delicious ice creams with a stunning view too. The other gem of our visit was our 2 trips to Clevedon. What a beautiful town just north of Weston. The Victorian pier did not disappoint and the beach was a bonus as the perfect spot for some rock pooling. On our second trip we visited the Clevedon Marine Lake which was open and a brilliant community space which you can tell is loved and cared for by everyone. The children enjoyed trying out paddle boarding with the lovely couple from Supway Hire who really made our day by taking our 2 year old for a little ride as well. If you walk along the esplanade from the lake there are multiple cafes and a pub overlooking the sea and the lake. Really was food for the soul.
