Noise from the adjacent Travellers site

We have been to Hunters Moon before and it has a nice mix of grass and hard standing pitches. We had to book our time in two sessions due to it being full over the bank holiday. This meant also having to move mid week from a grass to a hardstanding pitch. This was done without a problem in half an hour or so. However we decided to use the northern end of the site as ti appeared to be quieter. How wrong could you be. We did not realize that there was an adjacent permanent travelers site who played loud music all evening and had perhaps the best surround sound system in their van we have ever heard! Just a shame we couldn't see the film as well to enjoy the full experience.... So if you want a quiet pitch don't go North on Hunters Moon!

Hunters Moon

Just returned from a week at Hunters Moon, our first visit to this site. The Good Points - easy to find, no trouble booking in, friendly wardens, clean toilets/showers with plenty of hot water, well maintained pitches. Easy access into Wareham and the local area. Nice walk to the Silent Woman pub where we had a lovely meal. Now for the not so good points from our point of view - not the sites fault - but inconsiderate dog owners who dont think they have to pick up after their dogs in the dog walk. They should be shamed and if identified, asked to immediately leave the site. Our premium priced serviced pitch was one row back facing the road. I had phoned the site beforehand who confirmed road noise could be heard and it was a busy fast road being the main Bere Regis to Wareham Road, but I have to say I was not expecting the level of noise from early morning to evening. We could hear it from inside the van first thing in the morning, and was also very aware of it when sitting outside the van in the afternoon/early evening. I would not book a serviced pitch here again due to this. Secondly, we arrived to the last serviced pitch available and having followed the instruction and one way system its location was impossible and too tight to reverse our twin axle on (not everyone has the benefit of a motor mover!). We ended up having to unhitch the van and use the wardens and a couple of passer-bys to help us push and turn the van onto the pitch. With a bit of foresight it would have been helpful for the wardens to have lifted the no-entry barrier by the pitch and allowed us to drive up the wrong way a short distance which would have given us a correct angle to reverse on. The pitches that were easy to access were taken up with single vans and campervans - I know you cannot reserve pitches, but knowing a large twin axle was arriving, it would have been appreciated if some consideration had been given to holding a more accessible pitch. Finally the site was full and most mornings and early evenings there was a queue in the ladies for showers (this was mainly due to mums showering children). Would we return to this site? Yes, but not onto a serviced pitch and had this not been our experience I would have given 4 stars for overall rating and possibly five for piece and quiet.

perfect

We stayed here for 5 nights over the bank holiday week, thus the site was quite full, in spite of this the experience was perfect, very clean, very friendly wardens and peaceful. In a perfect location for many local attractions in this part of Dorset.

Beautiful Spring BH Break

We stayed at Hunters Moon for 3 nights over May Day BH weekend. What a lovely peaceful site and so clean.  Everyone was very friendly and there was a lovely pub just up the road.  A good walk but beware there is no pavement just a grass verge. You do require transport to visit Wareham itself.  Will definitely return again.

Fabulous getaway in Wareham

This was our first trip in our motorhome and we had chosen well! We were greeted on arrival and offered several pitches all of which were spacious. The site was very well tended, the facilities were lovely and we were very happy with our stay at Hunter's Moon. Would love to come back soon!

Hunters Moon

A lovely site in a lovely setting. First visit and will definitely be back. Location very central and all facilities were excellent, always clean, tidy and wardens helpful and friendly. Having a new puppy really appreciated the enclosed dog walk. Lovely dog friendly local pubs, particularly liked The Granary on the river in Wareham.

Great site

Great location, nice spotlessly clean facilities, this was our first visit, would definitely return lots to do in surrounding areas, a very nice part of our countryside and well worth a visit. Staff on site were very nice and friendly and kept the site looking lovely.

Beyond the norm

Having just purchased a new caravan we took it to Hunters Moon to commission it. On arrival we discovered that we had no manuals! Not to panic, help was at hand. The wardens were brilliant, nothing was to much trouble. The following day whilst out ,a car threw up a chipping and cracked our windscreen! The reception for mobile phones in the area is almost non existent, but on explaining our problem to the staff we where given use of the sites landline. We can not thank all staff for going the extra distance. This was customer care at it's best. Once again a huge thank you to all concerned.

Birdwatching heaven

A great site for bird watching.  Saw a Greater Spotted Woodpecker and a Nut Hatch.  Both came down to visit our peanuts along with all the other garden variety of birds.  The site was lovely, well laid out and clean.  Would definitely visit again.
