Rude warden

Our 3 night stay was spoilt by rude and unnecessarily autocratic warden, who, when he wasn't driving up and down on his noisy quad (so noisy he was wearing ear defenders), patrolled the site and stood staring accusingly at various motorhomes/caravans. Despite over 6 metres of gap between our neighbours caravan, plus a 2 foot wide hedge, they still bluntly insisted on us moving across to align exactly with a marker to comply with the minimum 2 metre health and safety gap! The only positive was that the site and grounds were well maintained, although is grass-cutting at 8 am on a Saturday really necessary? We won't come back, this is easily the most unfriendly club site we have visited, and have cancelled a future visit here already. We're choosing from the local CLs instead where we're sure they will appreciate the business after such a touch year for the tourist industry.

Lovely weekend break

This was our first visit to this lovely site and it certainly won’t be our last, it’s a lovely little gem! From the warm and friendly welcome to the calm and quiet of this pretty site yet still close to interesting towns and villages and beautiful countryside to explore, it felt like a little hidden secret you don’t want to over share! Situated in Craig Vale it’s an excellent starting point for walking cycling and generally exploring the area. As well as the river running alongside the site there is the footpath along the Rochdale canal for flatter walks you can follow to walk into Hebden Bridge. A beautifully kept site of a little over 40 pitches there are no on site toilet/washroom facilities which may deter some visitors but as we are choosing to use our own facilities anyway due to the current situation this was not a problem. Having availability of services pitches was a bonus. The only negative point is that having only the one site service point meant a number of times there was a queue to use the facility even though during our stay the site wasn’t fully occupied. That said, this is still a charming and well maintained site, small is indeed beautiful!

Our Favourite Site

This was our first return to our favourite site since 2019 and we found it unchanged - just as we wanted! I believe it would be a mistake for the club to upgrade this site in anyway. The wardens Paul & Linda are a breath of fresh air managing the site perfectly and engaging with members in a friendly and relaxed way. Dare I say “old school”? Many wardens could learn a lot from these two. The site has a special feel nestling in Crag Vale with the brook babbling through the edge of the site. Great after heavy rainfall as it forces it way down the valley as it was when we arrived. There is plenty in and around the area to keep most people busy whether that be walking, cycling or travelling further afield. Or of course just relaxing on site. Can’t wait to return on the 26 May for the Bank Holiday weekend

Small is beautiful

Arrived at the same time as the torrential rain which made the small river at the back of the pitch much more interesting. The site is charming, beautifully landscaped with trees and hedges, and is so small it is completely relaxing. We'll definitely be back again, hopefully for some more peace and quiet and to explore more of the surrounding area.

Leaving in case useful for others

A small site only around 40 pitches, well kept and backing onto a river. The wardens are all very friendly and helpful. We knew that the site had no toilet block/washing facilities but I cannot see why it doesn’t have any and not having them is quite detrimental to the site. Unless I have missed something obvious in the site write up we were surprised that it is called Hebden Bridge site, it is a bit of a stretch given that it is a 2.6 mile walk into the town which takes about 50 mins. Having said that we enjoyed the walk which was partly on a pavement on main roads and partly along the Rochdale Canal footpath, the canal part was great. Our dogs loved it as well. There looked to be another public footpath as well, again turning left out of the site entrance and on the left just a short distance along the road which looked to run parallel with a river, would have explored that had we not been here only the one night. Hebden Bridge itself is lovely, straight off the canal footpath, with a pretty park and bustling pedestrian areas with lots of cafes, pubs and little nick-back shops. There was also a small market on the day we were there (Sunday). I hope that the info here helps other potential visitors.

Lovely Site

We only live about 7 miles away from this site but decided to go stay and do some walks. We walked into Hebden Bridge and visited a few pubs as we were in lockdown so couldn’t socialise in our caravans or awnings but could sit in or outside a pub together with friends. It was lovely to meet up with our friends and socialise and the scenery here is wonderful. The Robin Hood pub on Cragg Road has some nice beers, it is very dated and a traditional local pub. There is a farm shop up the road called Craggies and worth a visit. It is on an industrial estate next to Vocation brewery. If you like cycling the Cragg Road is the longest ascent in England and many cyclists slow the traffic as they climb the very long hill. I know it’s local for us but we will definitely visit again and maybe walk to Stoodley Pike or Hardcastle Crags. There are no toilet facilities on this site but we use our own anyway.

Charming little campsite

We were booked for 3 nights. A gem of a campsite in beautiful surroundings. Our pitch had trees and the stream behind it. The wardens keep it spotless. Loved the rockery flower borders separating the pitches. There aren't any facilities but who needs them when we have everything on board? As long as there is water, a disposal point, bins, EHU and a coax TV connection (no reception), what more can one want? Gorgeous walks in the area highly recommended. All in all, a beautiful, pretty, well groomed and quiet little site at a very reasonable price

Great few days in our tiny camper.

We had a lovely few days at this site. The site is tidy & service point kept clean. It is in a great position for exploring in & around Hebden Bridge. Site staff friendly & unobtrusive. Dog walking area was fab! Only downside was no recycling that we could see.

Excellent weeks stay at a lovely site

Just stayed at the Hebden Bridge site, what a lovely site. The wardens were very friendly, very clean site kept very tidy at all times. Beautiful walks around the area, good pubs to visit in the area too. We will definitely be back. Thanks again for a great week. Only issue is the grass pitches need some attention as matting had to be placed down as it got very soggy.

Reservoirs, Dams & Canals

First time at this site and overall I'm very pleased with it. The site staff went out of their way to find me some stones for my steadies as my van was on a slight slope. It is ideally situated for the mountain bike cycle rides I wanted to do, so I didn't need to drive anywhere once set up. I cycled to at least 8 reservoirs along bridle ways and some unmarked MTB routes and canals. Absolutely loved it. I managed ok with TV signal in the evenings and the B6138 wasn't that noisey at all, in fact I hardly heard a thing in the evenings as the traffic died down. I certainly will visit again. 👍
