A Site that has everything

One of the CMCs best sites. Good facilities, well looked after and cared for by a team of brilliant wardens. Must be the best dog walk on the network too. Hawes has everything you require as long as it’s not a Supermarket, and it’s close to the site. Grocery shops, Butchers, Pubs a plenty, numerous cafes. Plus a variety of independent shops. I did miss the Newsagent this time though. Popular attractions are the Dales Countryside Museum and the Wensleydale Creamery. All set in the most beautiful Dales Countryside. Several local walks and longer hikes for the more energetic. Keen cyclists can zoom up and down the hills without too much vehicle competition. Dales bus and the Little White bus provide a limited service if you want to leave your car parked. Walks around Askrigg and Bainbridge both with tea rooms and Pubs should refreshment be required. A small Tuesday market in Hawes but the Leyburn Friday market possibly a better bet. Note the club and local tourist signs advertise the Ropemakers but that closed a while ago.

getting very expensive

we have just returned from a tour of Scotland and Hawes was our last site . great location but club sites are getting very expensive we stayed at five independent sites and their facilities were as good if not better ( one washing Machine at Hawes ! ) and we paid no more than £33 . also when your wardens are spraying weed killer can we have signs up please so we can keep dogs away if we were off site we would not of saw the weed killer being applied .

Excellent site with very helpful wardens

We loved this site and wish we had booked for longer as there are so many walks and attractions nearby. The wardens were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist us when we had a problem unhitching our caravan. A big thank you to Matt for bringing his tool kit and helping us with a very stressful situation. We will definitely return when we have more time to explore the area properly.

After staying here we are considering not renewing our membership

Staff very helpful. Clean Amazing location A very busy site. 119 pitches. We could see 25 other units from our pitch. Lots of dog noise in the evenings We are aware that prices have been going up since the pandemic. For a while now we just book where we want to go and enjoy ourselves. On arrival at Hawes i was shocked at the price and went back to just ensure it was correct. When i said that i thought £44 a night was expensive the reply was. We are 97% full, people pay. Our thoughts are now maybe we need to be mindful of not just throwing our money at big corporate club sites and start to look more at the independents sites. June 23

Two visits in two weeks

We gave just returned from the bank holiday weekend from Hawes wish we could have stayed longer. I can only echo the previous brilliant reviews, the wardens are so polite and helpful, the site, facilities and views are amazing, nice 10 minute stroll your in the village and then beyond if like a good walk. I could carry on but if you've not been just try it and take it all in. PS the glorious sun does help. We will be back 👍

The site that has everything!

Stayed at Hawes CMC site this week for the first time and for me this site is perfect. Immaculately clean, modern facilities, friendly wardens (Lisa in particular guided me on choice of pitch as I have a nervous dog - thank you - much appreciated), stunning views of the hills from many of the pitches, large and varied dog exercise field (and woodland), 5-10 min walk to Hawes town which has a lovely selection of shops, pubs, cafes, museum and of course the Wensleydale Creamery which is defo worth a visit, lots of walking trails and well places to visit other local towns and villages. Can’t wait to visit again!

SHOP ON SITE!

Well done to the Wardens for keeping the shop open - apparently the Club makes them pay for their own insurance etc which is why some site no longer have a shop. So please, do as I did, and enjoy the local produce on sale - Eccles Cakes, fresh milk & orange, scones etc - they even offer 2 Cream Scones & Jam if you fancy Afternoon Tea!!

A week in Hawes

The site is the usuall caravan & camper van standard. The place is ideal for walking and cycling from. The village is just a short walk away with lovely friendly pubs and tea rooms. The site is also next to a working farm so you do get noise from cows and sheep but you are in the countryside. I would highly recommend this site and will definitely be returning again and a big thank you to the wardens for the outstanding job they are doing at this site.

Superb Location - Facilities up to European Standards

Stayed 4 nights from 29/03/2023 and had been looking forward to doing so since 2000. Lovely airy site and the toilet/shower block as good as any we've experienced in Europe, and is meticulously clean. Excellent moho service area. Other reviews have complained about pitches not being level and whilst some used levellers, myself and our companions I didn't consider it necessary. Others mention the nearby moo-ing of cows at night in the adjacent farm which we think is hilarious. The twit-twoo-ing owls were a delight. Hawes is a lovely little town with a surprising choice of pubs/eateries and a visit to the Wensleydale Creamery is a must, as is the 29mtr waterfall which is accessed through the Green Dragon Inn (£4 per adult). If you visit the site be sure to scan across the top of the hillside and try an spot the two stone turrets, my wife and I hiked up to there and across the top in the howling wind and rain. Fantastic experience!
