This site ticks all the boxes. Many choices for eating out and lovely countryside to walk in. Also a couple of places to visit if the weather is bad. Cheap fuel at the garage.
The best wardens Iβve ever had at a CAMC
Was welcomed as a solo traveller by Mark and Jane and have to say i donβt think Iβve ever had a warmer welcome on a CAMC site. Accidentally got stuck in very wet grass, no problem for mark who towed me out without making any fuss, he was lovely.
The site is well laid out in different sections. The facilities were very warm and very clean all the time.
I stayed the week before half term. The only thing that spoilt it was the early arrival of children being allowed to cycle round and round, which really did spoil the peace when there was a games room they could have been in. Thatβs not the sites fault though, itβs selfish parents. Add to that the barking dog owners who let their dogs bark and do nothing. Again , not the fault of the site.
The site is about ten minutes walk into a small town. Not much for children to do. Thereβs a small Spa shop and an old fashioned grocers but no big shops.
People come to this site for peace and quiet and generally other campers respect this. I wouldnβt like to be there during a school holiday. Itβs a very busy full site off peak never mind peak season.

Really Nice Site
We stayed at Hawes for 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
The site has everything with wonderful walks direct from the site, a large dog friendly field and a games room in which we enjoyed a few games of table tennis.
The site is in easy walking distance of Hawes centre which has plenty of pubs and eateries.
Fabulous site,brilliant site staff
Site staff are exemplary, from getting us onto our pitch in a couple of minutes, check in at reception brilliant, appreciated the 1 free night too, pitch had a lovely view of river π too noticing me sitting on our floor mat and offering a loan chair, in case we'd forgotten 1, totally made our stay.
Great to walk into Hawes or straight along the river from the site, brilliant 2 night stay, thanks π

Lovely stay.
Wardens very welcoming with clear and concise information and very helpful at all times. Facilities always clean and tidy. Good food from the local chip shop after a long walk in the dales. I feel sure that we will return.

One of the best
We've stayed at Hawes quite a few times niw and fully intend to return - in fact we've already booked for next year. We now stay on a serviced pitch which feels like being on a CL, only with excellent shower and toilet facilities.
There is so much to see and do, close by, and the beautiful Dales scenery is hard to beat. If you've not been before, a walk to the Green Dragon for a pint and a look at Hardraw Force is a must, as are visits to Aysgarth Falls and the Ribble Viaduct.
Eating and drinking in Hawes itself is great, and there are some lovely little shops, together with a brilliant deli and an excellent butcher, so no need to take much food with you!
Excellent site
We find this site to be excellent and had everything we wanted for our stay. We do not have pets or children so cannot comment on those facilities. The staff are friendly, efficient and maintain spotlessly clean facilities and grounds.
We look forward to returning there.

Revisit to Hawes
We have been to this site a number of times because of its location, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Six years on from our last visit, there have been some changes, including better marking for the site one way system - just a shame that some drivers and cyclists consider it's only for other people and not for them! Main bugbear was the usual one, not restricted to this site but universally on Club sites it seems - speeding! We happened to be sited on the stretch of the site road leading to the new exit - another change since our last visit - and very few, if any, outfits kept to the speed limit. How hard can it be to drive on tickover, or cycle at walking pace?? Another interesting new to us feature, also causing some confusion, is the two lane entry road to the site barriers. In general it works, but we saw more than one outfit going out via the entrance. I'm pleased to find that the system of meeting the outfit, checking you've booked to stay, finding and pitching first before going to the site office to pay and get the barrier key, has been adopted here, like the other sites we've visited this year. One criticism, which has been mentioned in other reviews of the site, is the recycling method. A central recycling system may work very well on a small site, but this isn't the most convenient point for most people, especially those with poor mobility. Using the service points can only be better, despite the signs protesting bags being saved.

Perfect return visit
We last visited Hawes site about 5 years ago, our return was not a disappointment. Some of the previous reviews seemed a little negative I.e pitch size too small ( perhaps that has something to do with ever increasing size of vans?) Noise from aircraft( the RAF do fly over itβs their training ground but are gone in seconds) . Cows mooing in farm next to site( it is the county side) etc etc.
The site is lovely, close to the pretty village and all that has to offer, everywhere was immaculate. The staff were always pleasant and helpful when I encountered them. I would recommend a visit to Hawes site.
