Glorious Gower

We aproached this site down a short narrow road, once over a small bridge the view was fantastic a few yards down there was a turning right into what must be the best looking site in the land flowers everywhere and plenty of grass an oasis. We were greeted by a warden who welcomed us to Gowerton and we also had a greeting once in the site office. There are plenty of pitches to choose from grass or hard standing a child play area, best dogwalk ever lucky things. also a tiolet block to die for spotless. The wardens work very hard here to make sure everyone enjoys their stay here. The Gower penisular starts just down the road from the site heaven. the fantastic city of Swansea is only 4 miles away with the largest indoor market in wales. what more could anyone want.

All round good

Used this site on our way to Pembroke for the ferry and would definitely return for a longer visit. Friendly welcome and, as we visited at the end of May, the site was nice and quiet which suits us, but there would seem to be plenty of space for busier times to not feel crowded. There is a good pub nearby with a simple walk into Gowerton village. Nice cycling roads outside and lovely views.

Perfectly presented site but you'll to drive to get anywhere decent off-site

The site itself is perfectly presented and maintained and certain corners of the site offer very spacious pitches. Good, modern facilities too. The road by the entrance seemed quite noisy at times which probably explained why most people avoided using the pitches on that side of the site. The on-site dog-walk is fine, but personally I only use them to stretch my pooches' legs briefly first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Otherwise, I always like to get out and walk a bit further off the site. Well, unless you are prepared to drive a distance away onto the Gower peninsula, the Gowerton site is not for you. The only off-site walking is along busy narrow roads with no pavements, or through the gate out the back (I dread to think what it was like before the gate was installed, as the road out the front was the only option) to a boring playing field, soulless housing estates and a rather dull town. The site itself is lovely, the Gower is lovely, but the area immediately around the site is not worth bothering with.

Lovely site, need transport

Stayed here on our first night away in our motorhome. Lovely warm welcome upon arrival from the very helpful staff. Facilities spotless as was the site. Small dog walk on site, also located next to playing fields so can walk the dogs there both on and off the lead. Walking distance to a small tesco express, pub and the other small shops and take always in Gowerton. However, you need a vehicle or bike if you are staying here as there is nothing immediately available from the site. Within a short drive there are the beaches of Gower or the coastal path in Bynea. Approach the site from Gowerton and not from Gorseinon or Loughor due to narrow bridge.

Useful stop over

Use this site when I work in Swansea,  Very useful.  Staff very friendly and facilities very good .  Bit far from the beaches for a weekend on the Gower.

We keep coming back ....

I think this is our 4th time here and love coming here. Great site and base to explore the Gower and beyond. So friendly on site and out and about locally. Some changes have been made and the kids play area re located to a corner by the storage area and all modernised with soft flooring too. We love the dog walk as does our dog Daisy. Local shops within walking distance, recommend family owned Williams Pet store, it's on the road behind the tesco express. The site was meticulous this visit so well maintained and a credit to the wardens. If you get a pitch away from the road it's not really nosy, so don't be put off.

shame about the road noise

Can not fault the site. Nice wardens who keep the place lovely. Well placed for exploring the gower. You are advised about railway line which we did not find intrusive but the A484 which runs next to it very busy and loud. unfortunately because of the noise and lack of sleep would not return to this site. Shame.

More power to Gower

First time with motorhome in Wales great site for proximity to Swansea. Helpful staff well kept site with tubs of herbs to help yourself. Bit of a narrow twisted road if walking back to main road so take care. Potential for bird life would encourage me back. Good dog walking area, which hides railway. Tesco express Indian takeaway and pub all with in 15/20 minutes. View over marsh reminds you of the exposed potential of the flat lands.

Don't tell any one but ............

This site is perfect! The site is close to the Gower but also within easy access of Swansea City. It has a calming, relaxing feel which lets you forget your troubles and enjoy yourself to the max. The two couples who meet and greet you on your arrival are charming and informative. Nothing is too much trouble. The security and cleanliness is second to none. The bird life in the wetland next door to the camp site is really interesting. What can I say, It is just perfect.

Gets Better and Better

We visited Gowerton for the first of what will be 4 or 5 stays by the end of the season. We love this site. It is ideally located for touring the Gower. It is kept immaculately clean and the showers and facilities are a delight. Improvements have been made this year in that there is improved tarmac access to the plots at the rear of the fields - no more crossing potentially a muddy  field to reach the pitch. Also the motorhome service area has been improved, making it wider and even easier to empty waste and unwanted fresh water on departure. Well done to the Caravan Club.
