Super site for touring SW Wales

We chose this site as, with its position near the western end of the M4, it gave us access to that "magic carpet" for the long drive back home after our Welsh tour. It's a great site in its own right, however, and the beautiful Gower, eastern Pembokeshire and the Brecon Beacons can all be visited during a shortish stay. The site is flat, well laid out and with a goodly number of hardstandings. The one amenity block and annexe is very clean and more than copes with demand. A key fob is necessary to operate the entry barrier and with this there is a key for two security gates that admit you to a large urban recreation ground. Walking through this, and a car park, takes you to a Tesco express and other Gowerton amenities beyond. The walk takes about 15 minutes. It's true there is traffic noise (road and rail) but this is normally fairly light. And yes, traffic at peak hours can be heavy on local roads. Overall, a very good site experience. I'd certainly come again.

Great Position

First visit. Lovely site but can hear the traffic on the bypass - nonetheless it is in a great spot for venturing out in all directions. The Gower peninsula is outstandingly scenic - great coastal walks; great beaches. Geology of the area very interesting and visible - I stumbled on some pamphlets [free] written by Swansea University called 'Scratching the Surface' - lovely walks but also informative [available in Rossili NT Car Park and also Gower Heritage Centre]. The 'Gower Ramblers' also publish a ringbound book of walks.  The National Botanical Centre up the M4 - spent a whole day there! I shall definitely return to this site and area again.

Genuine improvements in accessibility

We stay on this site most years because of its convenience and pleasant aspect. The updates over last winter to the access to pitches and drainage have been well worth it. The spray mops still on test since last year are, in our opinion, a vast improvement to the cleanliness and hygiene of the amenities. This should now be expanded across other club sites. Loads to do in the area to suit all needs and interests. Great value breakfasts at Gowerton golf club 5 mins away. Great Fish and Chips on the corner in Penclawdd. Worth a ten minute drive. Sit across the road on the front and eat them - Watch out for the seagulls though. We called the site from the site we stayed on en route as we had a technical problem. The staff were extremely helpful and recommended a local repair company ("The Caravan Team" from Forest Fach) I rang the company before we set off for Gowerton and they asked us to call in on our way to the site. The fault was repaired using a genuine spare from their extensive stock and we were on our way within half an hour.

A much improved site

This was a return trip for us after a 5 year layoff. The current warden welcomed us enthusiastically and informed us of the three pitches remaining. The standard of improvement of this site was reflected in the fact that it was full by 4:30pm on the Friday.  Beware though, although just off the m4, the final 3 miles are a nightmare if hit at the wrong time.  Once on site though everything was perfect. The previous muddy grass areas have been replaced by hard standings and very well laid out. There are locked gates into a vast playing field area which you are given keys to which is ideal for an impressive dog excersize area. All in all a much improved site with friendly wardens who encouraged us to return.. We will thank you.

Great Base

We'd stayed at pembrey the days before and were very pleased with our choice - easy access via a locked gate to a range of facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay will without doubt return

Great site but some transport noise

Stayed here for 6 nights. Very well kept site with excellent shower block etc. Good dog walk albeit very damp and a bit muddy when were there in September. Excellent base for exploring the Gower Peninsular with its beautiful beaches. Only slight negative relates to the nearby railway track and road from which train/traffic noise were quite prevalent where we were, on the North side of the site. It may well be better at the other end, further from the railway/road. Delightful and helpful staff.
