Beautifully located site

This is our second visit here and it does not disappoint. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are spotlessly maintained. Situated opposite Upton Towans it is a dog and dog walker’s paradise either among the dunes or along the golden sandy beach. I don’t think our dogs want to go home! The only mark down on peace and quiet is because I don’t think I have heard such a noisy tractor mower before, however it doesn’t go on for that long to be fair.

Lovely site but the staff let it down!

Lovely location and the site was spotless. We were met on arrival by a lady who seemed to be pleasant enough who directed us to the pitches available for our stay. That’s where the pleasantries ended. All the staff looked as if they’d been sucking on a lemon for the remainder of our stay. No good mornings, asking for information seemed to be a choir and they all looked unhappy in their work. Very surprised at other reviews about the staff, maybe the ones we had were standing in whilst the friendly ones were on holiday?? Will not be staying at that site again, pity as the location was lovely, definitely not had an experience like this in twenty years of touring.

Lovely site great location

Apologies for the delay in delivering this review, but we stayed at Godrevey for a week in the middle of June. We loved every minute of our stay. We arrived on a Sunday and initially were quite disappointed that there were only a few pitches available to choose from but in the end, we were happy with our choice as it was a nice corner plot, plenty of space close enough, but without being next to the toilets? Once again, received a very warm welcome from the wardens, who gave a brief overview of the site and its facilities and they let us off to select a pitch. As always when we passed them or they passed us we were always met with a friendly greeting. Plenty to see and do around the site, including the open top bus service directly into St Ives, and plenty of walks down to Gwithian, the beaches and out to the National Trust headland and beyond. Only one little observation is that whilst the toilet facilities were always spotlessly clean they are looking tired and certainly in need of updating for a site so popular. We shall definitely return.

VERY KIND STAFF and GREAT LOCATION

They were very kind during our stay, we had technical problems with our motorhome and they helped us by extending our stay despite the fact that the campsite was fully booked and by supporting us in the transfer to the train station so that we could return home. I would also add that this campsite is near very beautiful beaches and cliffs. Thanks again in particular to the two ladies at reception for their kindness and understanding, also with our kids. We will definitely be back.

Superb location

We had two lovely, peaceful weeks here in June. The site is ideal for walking to the beach across the Towans / sand dunes and as a base for access to St Michaels Mount, Penzance, Mousehole, St Ives, Perranporth and Newquay. The Towans are an important nature reserve and while we were walking at quiet times we saw common lizards, slow worms and skylarks. The site is well maintained by the friendly and helpful site team. The nearby pub The Red River Inn, with excellent beer, is a 30 minute walk away. The National Trust carpark (free to members) is a short drive past the pub and provides access via a bridge across the Red River to a delightful beach. I hope we will return to this site.

Great Site

A perfectly placed site for West Cornwall. Quiet, near the beach and great walks. Perfect for dogs and families. Choice of places to visit are far to many to list but perfectly placed for St Ives, St Michaels Mount, Penzance and the Lizard Peninsular to name a few. Bus service from site entrance. Immaculate facilities and super site managers who always seem able to smile, even when dealing with problems. We always aim to visit every other year

Cracking site

We have just returned from 4 lovely relaxing nights at Godrevy Park. We had our pick of pitches as there were only a handful of people onsite when we arrived so we chose the field closest to the play area for our 8 year old to enjoy. Upon arriving at the pitch we were delighted to see several families of wild rabbits mooching about our field. The pitch was a great size, more than enough room for our car, van, awning and a good strip of grass alongside the awning to put the dog stake, camp chairs, airer etc. We had the entire field to ourselves until our last night which meant plenty of space for ballgames! The facilities were spotless, the wardens were so friendly and helpful and our boy really enjoyed the brand new play area, especially as he was the only minor on site, he had it to himself! We took a walk over the dunes onto 3 mile beach and had a dip in the (freezing!) Atlantic, enjoyed the dog walking facilities behind the site and chilled out watching the rabbits every evening. Such a central location for everything Cornwall has to offer. Fantastic site, so quiet and peaceful with very little light pollution if star-gazing is your thing. Will definitely return.

Good Stay

We spend three nights at Godrevy Park. The campsite is located very nicely. Through a site access you can reach the beautiful beach quickly. The bus station to St. Ives is nearby. A nice campsite with very friendly and helpful staff, we will gladly come back.

Godrevy Park Club Campsite

We have been visiting this part of Cornwall for over 20 years and even today the site of Godrevy Lighthouse is still as special as the first day we set eyes on it when our children were young. The site really is great. Pitches vary from small to large and there are some with views across the sea (just). The best part about the site is location. In less than 10 minutes you can be at Gwithian Towans, a wonderful area of headland and sand dunes with far reaching views of St Ives Bay and the Godrevy Lighthouse. There is also a signposted path to Gwithian village which takes you across a field and onto the road at the bottom of the hill just a stone’s throw from the Red River pub. A busy little place serving a good selection of local beers (Tintagel Brewery Castle Gold highly recommended). The headland coast path here is also excellent. Godrevy NT car park to Hells Mouth is a must. Look out for the seals, we saw over 50 sleeping on the beach far below. Back to the site. I must say a huge thank you to the wardens on the Godrevy Park Club Campsite and especially to Mel and Scott who were so helpful and supportive during our stay. We were due to leave on Monday 8th August however whilst checking the wheel nuts on the van I put my back out and was unable to walk let alone hitch up the van and drive away. Mel and Scott managed the impossible, they found us a pitch on a full site for three further days, allowing me time to recover. Scott moved the van for us (whilst I lay on the floor inside). What can I say, this is over and above their roles and my wife and I will be forever grateful. Fortunately I was back on my feet the next day although sore was able to visit a local chiropractor. Two days later we felt fit enough to move on to Tintagel with Emma my wife now more equipped with hitching up, towing and levelling. Thank you again to the Caravan Club. You have some great wardens, please make sure they are recognised for their efforts. John Walker.

Dogs & owners.

This is a lovely usually peaceful site. I stayed 10/8 to 15/8. Unfortunately this time we had groups of inconsiderate dog owners & lots of dogs . Some with 3 large ones per caravan. Dogs in the evening were left at caravans where owners had gone to friends for drinks. The dogs were left barking then setting of the rest nearby barking continuous until owners returned. I was a dog owner so know it is the owners fault not dogs . However the site was over run with them on this occasion. It is school holidays but really felt sorry for staff as the toilet & shower blocks were left in chaos by some families . Water shortage yet young children unsupervised in shower block taking up 6 showers for ages whilst adults queuing for long periods. Do not have an answer but watching dogs urinate around tents & vans is not the normality on this usually good site. No idea how it’s solved but if everyone has a 2 or 3 dogs it was really overkill. !! I expect the answer is don’t visit school holidays. Staff need a medal & inconsiderate adults need to think of others when they are blasting out their loud music with friends round & dogs barking .
