First time at Freshwater East but not our last.
One of the best sites we have been on.
Beach and pub just across the road. Beach is dog friendly.
Food in Jacks is OK but not the best . Pub at the top of the hill is better so we were told .We went at about 3oc on afternoon and they had finished serving. Don't miss the turning as the lanes are very narrow!!
No wifi and limited phone signal. There is a wifi hotspot by the reception but very limited on the site.
Plenty of walks and dog friendly beaches nearby
Favourite site
Freshwater east is one of my favourite sites because of the location next to the dog friendly beach and the lovely coastal walks from the site. Local places to drive/walk are Stackpole quay, barafundle and broad haven beaches, and Manorbier castle. Freshwater west, Carew castle and Pembroke castle are all in easy reach. Lovely wardens and immaculate site, as ever. What’s more to want .
Lovely beach location
Lovely site. Stayed out of season so quiet . 5mins stroll to great dog friendly sheltered beach and access to coast path. Amazing walks and views. Harder walk to Manorbier and easier walk to Barafundy Bay. Nice pub up in village up hill and one down road (part of a holiday site).
Super clean site. Wardens lovely.
Only tiny gripe is that shower block closed 10:15am-11.45am. Wish this could be later closing time, as found ourselves clock watching to get dog walked and back in time to shower! Prefer to be able to chill when on holiday.
Highly recommend a visit.
Great site
Just returned from an excellent week. Ideally situated to walk to the beach which the dog thoroughly enjoyed. Coastal path walk to Stackpole Quay was tough going for myself and husband who both have bad knees but definitely worth the effort. Site was superbly maintained by the wardens who were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely re-visit.

Fabulous location
Our 3rd visit to this site and we absolutely love it,Thank you to the wardens for keeping the site lovely and clean, there are issues with phone signal but it's not a necessity to us personally, can't wait to go back.
Great site but wont revisit
Fabulous site, good location, clean, lovely wardens BUT and its a big BUT. No phone signal which is not the fault of the site but no phone signal means wifi is crucial. Quite frankly the caravan club dont care. They were happy to take our money for wifi knowing it doesnt work. Wish i had read the reviews! Wardens did their best but its not their fault. Turns out its a known issue. Same problems last year and despite complaints the CC have done nothing but continue to take money for something they cant provide. Beware!
Holiday 2022
We arrived on site after the 1pm arrival time and went in to pay etc. Warden gave a very thorough explanation of the does and don't s on the site and provided a print out of a couple of pages with further information. I would advise fellow travellers to use the instructions in the club book or on the website to get to the site - do not use sat nav.
The site is clean and the shower/toilet block are fine. There is a play area for children and a dog walk. It is not far from the sandy beach but no sea views unfortunately.
As others have said , the Wi-Fi is extremely poor as is phone reception and the tv reception.
It is a very quiet site and would definitely benefit from improved Wi-Fi and visiting food vans which most sites now seem to have. We were visiting during the week when the Iron man tournament was taking place. This could be viewed from but access to and from the site was severely restricted on the day because of this.
Great location by the Beach, shame about the WiFi/phone signal and one Warden who is very regimented
We stayed on this site a few weeks back, the wardens were welcoming but check in was very formal. Not shown to pitches, just told to pick a pitch and let them know what number we were at. This meant walking back to the office which was quite a distance but we did this as asked as the male warden had moaned about 4 guests not doing this and he’d had to find out which pitches were taken which he wasn’t happy about? It’s part of warden’s job surely to ensure guests are pitched so maybe provide bikes or they have ride on carts they could use to guide guests round the site! Something for them to consider in the future.
My other gripe was that same male warden came round after we’d pitched up to tell us we needed to move our Motorhome by 1 meter and ensure we were in line with the marker. Not all vans were abiding to these rules so reading other reviews if they’re going to want rules abiding to then this needs to be to all.
Apart from the one jobsworth warden, all the others were pleasant. The toilets and showers were clean, there were a couple of Elsan points located around the site, washing up area for dishes and a laundry room. When the toilet blocks were being cleaned you could use the other block so still facilities to use too.
There was a small dog walking area and the beach was really close to the site which was great. A lovely long sandy beach and there are toilets by the car park. Great coastal walks from the site too.
Vodaphone signal zero on site and the beach, if you join the coastal path you may get a signal but hit and miss. Friends who stayed with us were with EE and they got signal on the beach.
I think for the price you pay for this site there should be free Wifi instead of having to pay extra through Caravan and Motorhome club for daily £3.50 per device or weekly/annually. Shame on you C&MHClub when some of your CL sites at a much cheaper rate offer it for free!
Sunny Freshwater East
Tried to call ahead to book on the day, but recorded message recommended website. We used car park at the beach to do so and all went smoothly, reasonable phone and WiFi signal available a 200m walk from site. We chose the sunnier side of this long, narrow site, close to the showers. The hard standing pitch was in excellent clean condition, and we were not overlooked, nor overlooking anyone else.
Staff were very welcoming, friendly and approachable, obviously keeping a watchful eye on all proceedings!
The showers and toilets were immaculate, obviously new and very pleasant. Recycling and rubbish bins situated nearby.
This is a fabulous site, as mentioned in other reviews, for walks, for easy access to the sandy beach and coastal walking, or for quiet relaxation.
No criticism from us for staff and hygiene facilities, all absolutely top notch, as expected. I deducted ticks from facilities because of the lack of phone and WiFi on the site. I discussed this with the warden and expressed the opinion that we should happily pay more, a few pounds will not make any difference to the overall value for money, but we will NOT pay £3.50 a day
( or 8p a day annually) for internet, we already pay for this from the phone providers.
This matter aside, what a wonderful couple of days, thanks!
Nice Coastal site, Great Wardens, BUT...
Dean and Paul were very welcoming and helpful during our stay! We had pitch 114 near the entrance as we felt it was quieter, away from the Play area's. Great location for the Beach and Coastal Path. We walked to Swan Lake Bay, took app 1.45hr and was tough in places due to the 'up n down' terrain! The beach is a good area and dog friendly, literally across the road from site, toilets and a water tap on the short path onto it. Jacks bar on the holiday park next door was good for Pizzas and a Beer or two. The onsite shop could probably do with a few more fresh items as there are no shops within short walking distance.
Now for our COMPLAINT, we were asked not to pitch our awning on the grass ( it overlapped by app half a metre) as this was the fire break, fair enough, rules are to protect us. HOWEVER, when we came back from our walk, our new neighbours had pitched their caravan awning on the grass by at least 1 metre AND also cooking equipment AND a clothes airer (even moved our electric cable and chucked it into the bushes) When I asked why this had been allowed, apparently the guests knew the Site Manager and he said it was ok?? Completely unfair and surely rules are rules, fire breaks apply to all??
