At Long Last We've Visited Fairlight Wood

This is a site we have been meaning to visit for many years so this year (although we now live further away!) we decided to do it and we are very glad we did. After a pretty horrendous journey we received a lovely welcome from the very friendly relief wardens who were a credit to the Club. There were only a choice of 3 available pitches when we arrived but the one we chose had a fair amount of sunshine which was a bonus as this is a very wooded site. We were also quite protected once the 3 days of brilliant weather changed to strong winds and heavy downpours. The last 200 yards to the site are on a very narrow road so it was disappointing to see that, once again, some members felt that the 12 noon arrival time did not apply to them. This could have caused severe problems if they had met a unit leaving the site before noon. The relief wardens kept the facilities immaculate but there were problems with the toilet cisterns not filling up which will require remedial action. Otherwise a first class stay which we are still thoroughly enjoying.

Peaceful

Even though it rained every day, we had a lovely time, the wardens were so relaxed and friendly, which made a really good atmosphere. We parked under the trees where the hedges seperate the plots, this was a mistake as there wasn't any sun and things were dropping off the trees and banging on the roof all night. We walked through the woods to the 2 Sawyers pub, the food was excellent and very reasonable. You can get a taxi to Hastings old town, for £10. George Street is full of pubs and restaurants. We will definitely return to this site for the peace and quiet and lovely woodland walks. Not really suitable for children in my opinion as nothing for them to do

Our 3rd stay at this site this year. Absolutely love it here, so peaceful yet so near to Hastings, Rye and Camber. Ideal for dogs because you have the woods next to you. Spotless site with lovely warm shower and toilet block. Site staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Can guarantee we will visit every year because it's our favourite site so far!

Great location and excellent wardens

Stayed here for 4 nights in order to visit Hampton Court Palace, Tower of London and Natural History Museum. Ideal location as the first was within walking/cycling distance (about 2.5 miles away) and the latter two short train ride from Hersham Station which is about a mile away. Very warm welcome from the wardens who clearly explained the location of the site facilities and the choice of pitches available to us and then left us to get on with it - which is what we prefer. Given its location this is a very peaceful site and it was impossible to tell that we were inside the M25. Some good walks to be had in neighbouring woods/nature reserve and some great places to eat in East Molesey which is on the south bank of the Thames near Hampton Court Palace. Will definitely return in not too distant future. Also, directions on how/when to access the site were spot on.

Many plus points

We visited this site originally for a 1 night stop via the channel tunnel and a week in France so that we could visit family near by. When we got here and had a look around and received an excellent welcome from the wardens we decided to stay longer very quickly. It is a crowded site when full but doesn't feel like it due to the peaceful location, trees and facilities.  We have a pooch with us and the location and facilities available locally with long walks, geocaching and pubs make this site ideal to us. PS if there were awards for wardens then these guys would get gold ** AAA medals...

Peaceful & Idyllic

We have just come home from a lovely 8 night stay at Fairlight wood . Pitch number 3 was our 'home' for the 8 nights and it was a very secluded spot in the site .  We must say this fantastic site is situated in a tranquil setting . The wardens were approachable , friendly & very helpful .  The site's facilities were top notch - some of the best  toilet blocks we have seen .  Some good walks in the area and you must visit the local pub - The two Sawyers . This is only 10 minutes walk away from the site which is ideal after one too many local ciders & a good meal !  In the local area there is many scenic places to visit such as Rye , Battle & the seven sisters near Eastbourne.  Overall we would definately recommend this site when visiting the East Sussex area .

Simply stunning

We stay on this site a few times every year and every time we go there the site looks just that little bit better, The site is stunning, The location is just perfect for peace and quiet watching the squirrels and listening to the bird song. The choice of pitches on this small site is so varied that you can get a totally different angle on this stunning site. The wardens are great and so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, facilities and pitches on this site are all kept up to the caravan clubs high standards. Great wooded area to walk dogs and also doubles as a cut through to a lovely country pub in the village, you will also find an amazing tea room selling amazing cream teas and cakes to die for all at great prices, completing the village is a great butchers shop that also acts as a general store, very friendly owners. Always look forward to our visits here and i highly recommend you giving this stunning site a try if your down this way on your travels.

Peaceful haven

We have visited this site on a number of occasions and it never fails to please.  Spotlessly clean facilities and warm friendly wardens.  The site is situated right next to a wood, which is wonderful for dogs and humans alike.  You can also walk through the village to the seafront (steep hill coming back).  There are a couple of lovely pubs and an excellent tea room nearby.  The only shame is that it does not have seasonal pitches due to its size - a true breath of fresh air.
