Great location and excellent wardens

Stayed here for 4 nights in order to visit Hampton Court Palace, Tower of London and Natural History Museum. Ideal location as the first was within walking/cycling distance (about 2.5 miles away) and the latter two short train ride from Hersham Station which is about a mile away. Very warm welcome from the wardens who clearly explained the location of the site facilities and the choice of pitches available to us and then left us to get on with it - which is what we prefer. Given its location this is a very peaceful site and it was impossible to tell that we were inside the M25. Some good walks to be had in neighbouring woods/nature reserve and some great places to eat in East Molesey which is on the south bank of the Thames near Hampton Court Palace. Will definitely return in not too distant future. Also, directions on how/when to access the site were spot on.

Many plus points

We visited this site originally for a 1 night stop via the channel tunnel and a week in France so that we could visit family near by. When we got here and had a look around and received an excellent welcome from the wardens we decided to stay longer very quickly. It is a crowded site when full but doesn't feel like it due to the peaceful location, trees and facilities.  We have a pooch with us and the location and facilities available locally with long walks, geocaching and pubs make this site ideal to us. PS if there were awards for wardens then these guys would get gold ** AAA medals...

Peaceful & Idyllic

We have just come home from a lovely 8 night stay at Fairlight wood . Pitch number 3 was our 'home' for the 8 nights and it was a very secluded spot in the site .  We must say this fantastic site is situated in a tranquil setting . The wardens were approachable , friendly & very helpful .  The site's facilities were top notch - some of the best  toilet blocks we have seen .  Some good walks in the area and you must visit the local pub - The two Sawyers . This is only 10 minutes walk away from the site which is ideal after one too many local ciders & a good meal !  In the local area there is many scenic places to visit such as Rye , Battle & the seven sisters near Eastbourne.  Overall we would definately recommend this site when visiting the East Sussex area .

Simply stunning

We stay on this site a few times every year and every time we go there the site looks just that little bit better, The site is stunning, The location is just perfect for peace and quiet watching the squirrels and listening to the bird song. The choice of pitches on this small site is so varied that you can get a totally different angle on this stunning site. The wardens are great and so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, facilities and pitches on this site are all kept up to the caravan clubs high standards. Great wooded area to walk dogs and also doubles as a cut through to a lovely country pub in the village, you will also find an amazing tea room selling amazing cream teas and cakes to die for all at great prices, completing the village is a great butchers shop that also acts as a general store, very friendly owners. Always look forward to our visits here and i highly recommend you giving this stunning site a try if your down this way on your travels.

Peaceful haven

We have visited this site on a number of occasions and it never fails to please.  Spotlessly clean facilities and warm friendly wardens.  The site is situated right next to a wood, which is wonderful for dogs and humans alike.  You can also walk through the village to the seafront (steep hill coming back).  There are a couple of lovely pubs and an excellent tea room nearby.  The only shame is that it does not have seasonal pitches due to its size - a true breath of fresh air.

A very peaceful break

We recently enjoyed a great four day break at Fairlight Wood. This was our first visit and our abiding memory is one of peace and quiet. The site is set amongst some great woodland. We also appreciated the friendliness, and helpfulness of the wardens which made for a very relaxed stay. We ate at the local pub "The Two Sawyers", which was a short walk away and enjoyed the atmosphere and food there. Booking is essential during busy periods. We spent our time walking along the coast, mainly using the Saxon Shore way and were very impressed by the Hastings Country Park. It is a relatively small site and we thought it might be difficult to keep children (teenagers) amused hence our low score on good for families. We will certainly be back.

Great stay

We spent 2 nights here. Lovely site, great for the dog with lots of local wooded walks. No park for the kids which is a bit of a shame but we spent the days out anyway so no issues. Quiet peaceful site

Wooded Peace

We stayed with two grandchildren for a week and found the site heavily wooded, quiet and spotless. All but two pitches are hard standing. The children though were less well pleased, no play area and unusually no other children of similar ages.  Now this may suit many but it left our two somewhat disappointed especially as this was peak season summer holiday time.  Having said that we found plenty to entertain them nearby and had good days out at Bodiam Castle and Camber Sands. The nearest beaches at Pett Level and Winchelsea are pebble at high tide but exposing massive sand areas and rock pools at low tide, a real enjoyment. for the children.  We loved the site and will return without the children just to explore the lovely woodland and amazing views that are on offer all around.

We love this site

We visit this site many times and is one of our favourites.  Paul & Marie (wardens) are the friendliest of all.  Yes, some pitches are shaded and non-awning pitches a squeeze if u have a large van. Great for our dogs, great for us with pub selling our favourite beer.  Royal Oak pub, up road but a drive away, also very good.  Seaside, Romney Marsh, all a stones throw away.  I have never left a review before but feel that I must now.
