Best site for dogs ever!!

When visiting the area, we normally stay at Exmoor House site, but this year they had no availability for the week I wanted. However, we have just had a lovely week at Exebridge Lakeside with our 2 Deerhounds who loved the large doggy field where they were able to play with many new friends. The icing on the cake was the Anchor Inn, just a short walk away - the most 'doggy friendly' pub we have ever found, and with lovely food and a really friendly local clientele. The wardens on site were also among the best we have found. If you are thinking of staying here - just go ahead, you won't regret it!!

Exmoor break

We only came to check out our new caravan and two days was not enough. Wow! Absolutely cracking. More relaxed than Dulverton. Flat grass pitches, spotless toilets all in all one of the best. The dog walk is lovely, as is the walk to the "local". Can't wait to return

Summer break

Exebridge Lakeside is a lovely site set in beautiful surroundings close to two villages, Dulverton and Bampton. The site itself is very clean and usually immaculate pitches and grounds, brilliant dog field and a children's play area. This was our 4th year visiting this site and our first at being restricted to half, due to the grass section being shut off. We were firstly told this is because they were very quiet, we then asked to pitch on one of the grass pitches but to be told no because they are too wet (even though this section houses all weather pitches!). It seemed such a shame that half of the site was closed, making the all weather pitches unavailable, but allowing other members to pitch on a 'U' shaped grass area which was then totally ruined (even though we were told that no one is being allowed to pitch there). One member had to be towed off of there making an awful mess of the turf which was already in a bad way. Another member thought it was a good place for their children to play football!!

Best dog walking facilities I've seen yet

We only spent one night at Exebridge Lakeside but will definitely be coming back. Best dog walking facilities I've seen at a CMC site yet, makes all the difference when our furry companions can also have a good time.

Excellent Exbridge Lakes

Spent two glorious weeks at this beautiful site and would have stayed longer, but work intervened. The site is beautifully situated and the hardworking, friendly wardens keep it immaculate. We were lucky enough be sited on a great big grass pitch with lovely views of the nearby hills. Nearby Dulverton is a delightful village - best butcher for miles! However the short pretty walk from the site to The Anchor pub is a must, with the geese and ducks providing the entertainment. The Anchor is a great pub; the food was great, the beer was great, the wine was great, the garden is lovely plus the publicans and staff very friendly and helpful. So you don't have to go far to enjoy the beautiful countryside and stunning Lynmouth is only 19 miles away, so a visit to the coast is easy. For a view to take your breath away be sure you take the road over Exmoor on a clear day. How lucky we are to be able to enjoy such beautiful surroundings.

Another great visit

This is one of our favourite sites with excellent facilities including very good fenced dog walk. Please don't take any of the dog area for tents! The Anchor pub is friendly for dogs and humans and the food is good. We'll be back! Thank you.

Why have we not been back here for a couple of years

Well, we haven't been here for 2/3 years and keep asking ourselves why? Beautiful site, beautifully maintained, facilities excellent. Left Cornwall site early because of awful weather and had sun, sun, sun at Exebridge. Serviced pitch and allowed to pitch nose in to take advantage of the beautiful views. We will not leave our next visit so long. Thank you.

Excelent Excelent Great Site

We have just returned from a great two night stopover at Exebridge Lakeside . What a lovely hidden Gem !! We left our site in Cornwall early due to poor weather and by luck booked in at this lovely site, what a shame we didn't spend the whole week. Spotlessly clean showers with music !even flowers in lady's block. The grass was being cut as soon as the pitch was emptied what a credit to the club We will be back Again that's for sure

IT'S LOVELY HERE!

Not too far from the M5, but far enough. Easy access, but make sure you don't drive straight into the adjacent farmyard! Turn left immediately after leaving the road. Some road noise, but it really is not too intrusive. Wardens, as is usual, are just great - thank you! Fish and chips on Fridays, always a treat. Bampton and Dulverton are little gems and not to be overlooked. The local pub, The Anchor, is OK, but is only 5 minutes walk away around the fishing lake, so it has its advantages. We stayed for three nights in June, breaking the journey on our way to St Ives, Cornwall, which worked really well. No doubt we will be here again next year.

Second Visit

We hadn’t stayed on this site or on Exmoor for over 12 years. Exmoor remains as beautiful as ever and a perfect location for coast and country walking, sightseeing and nature watching. The site has been redeveloped since we last visited. We liked it before and we like it now. We chose a hard standing at the bottom of the site because it was further away from the road but it had less of a view than some other pitches. All the pitches are generous in size and the terracing ensures that most are well separated and do not overlook each other. The facilities are of a high standard. The site has a peaceful ambience in an attractive setting on the Exe Valley Way, which provides 3-mile walking routes N to Dulverton or SE to Bampton - and beyond. There is a far shorter walk to the local pub and the River Barle from the bottom of the site around a fishing lake with private lodges. However, a car is needed to take full advantage of all of the walking opportunities. There are adequate local shops in Dulverton and Bampton but for Tesco and Morrisons and lower priced fuel, much longer drives to Tiverton or Minehead are required but both make pleasant trips. There are two good NT properties to visit – Knightshayes Court N of Tiverton and Dunster Castle SE of Minehead. We also had a pleasant horse drawn barge trip from Tiverton on the Grand Western Canal. We couldn’t find any CLs in the area with electricity and chose the Exebridge site over the Dulverton site (which we looked at) because it was more spacious, open and rural. We had previously discounted the Minnows site near Tiverton due to greater road noise.
