Perfect

Just spent five days at one of my favourite sites, its been over 12months since my last visit due to Covid rules and regulations but great to be back, It was the hottest week of the year but managed to stay cool by sitting under the trees and following the shade, the site was immaculate as always and the flowers on the reception very colourful and a joy to look at, staff ALWAYS pleasant and courteous and always ready for a quick chat, Thank you and again, great to be back.

Great site but need to work on customer care

This is a lovely site, no doubt about that. Yes they have no toilet or showers but that's fine as we were aware of it. It was peaceful the views are lovely and great dog walks esp the mushrooms and fairy doors. However, I became extremely poorly on the morning that we were due to leave. I had a migraine and sickness, now if you have ever had a migraine and sickness you understand just how awful these are. More so as the sickness triggered my atrial fibrillation so I was also trying to get my heart rate down. Especially in a hot motorhome. The husband was trying his best to keep me cool and hydrated whilst the kids entertained themselves and tried to stay quiet. My husband went to the office to explain whats occuring hoping we could stay a bit longer even if just until the next lot of visitors arrived. We were in a right pickle. Only to be told, you have one hour to get off the pitch. He explained about my heart, but it didn't seem to sink in. Finally it eased enough for us to leave. Another lady came and spoke to us and said that the they rung the person and they didn't realise they had booked tonight and we could stay. However she also quoted well you have outstayed your welcome on more than one occasion. This was at 3.45. my heart rate was still very raised although my migraine had subsided. I felt very lethargic and weak. But to hear those words outstayed your welcome made me feel like we didn't want to stay another night. There as no empathy or sympathy from either of those we spoke to. This wasn't planned, I couldn't avoid being this ill. We gave them ten pounds with thanks as we left but that didn't seem appreciated either. So needless to say we won't be back. We wouldn't want to ourstay out welcome again now would we?

Lovely campsite

We've been to Englethwaite Hall a few times as we enjoy the peaceful location. Great for walking the dog around the small lakes. This was a hot and sunny weekend so the shaded walk was very nice indeed. The site has always been very peaceful but unfortunately this time there was a family (s) with young children whose parents obviously decided it was okay for them to keep playing right outside our door, understandably driving our dog mad. We asked them four times if they would stop but with no effect. As they kept climbing over the fence, made from sticks, which the site have erected to obviously stop people cutting through this way, one actually caused some damage. Not the wardens fault at all but a shame that a site that seems set up for a peaceful getaway, certainly was not during our visit.

What a great site

We wanted a local site to finish off our walk along Hadrian's Wall and this site was in exactly the right place, just south of Carlisle. Very clean and tidy with level pitches. Really helpful wardens and managed to avoid squishing local hedgehog on both evenings. Colourful rhodadendron bushes in full flower were delightful. May be no shower block but more than adequate water/rubbish bin placement. Visited local Lannercost Priory for delicious lunch and afternoon walk. Carlisle Castle is also well worth a visit, very informative military museum. Really enjoyed a quiet respite from business of getting ready. Dave and Alison

First Time at Englethwaite Hall

Stayed at Englethwaite Hall Club Site late June 2020 – It was our first time here and certainly will not be our last – WHAT A SITE – Fantastic. Don’t be put off by lack of a toilet block or access road to site (whilst a little bumpy it’s okay) Firstly the welcome from the warden was excellent, they couldn’t have been more helpful – thank you. We stayed on pitch 47 in front of the most beautiful Rhododendrons, the whole site was stunning with wonderful plants / trees. This is a bird lover’s paradise – we even saw a woodpecker near our bird feeder. pubs Wheatsheaf and Queens Inn locally served excellent food with a friendly atmosphere

great site

nice site, great dog walk through woods onto a big fenced off area were you can let your dog off. (one of the best sites for the dogs).. another walk is through the otherside of the woods to the dog friendly pub. (1 mile walk). no toilet on site, but after the year we all have had, you get to know your own toilet/ shower. will be back.. first class.

Good site but pitches are not level.

The Eden Valley lies to the south of Carlisle so is well situated for visits to Hadrian’s Wall and the Lake District. The Valley itself is rural with nearby Armathwaite village a must for evening river walks and two attractive pubs. The site is secluded with many enormous trees that once were part of the gardens to Englethwaite Hall. There are several clearings and wide lawns give a feeling of spaciousness. The pitches were well spaced but not level. Nowadays many new sites have level pitches and some even use block paving to ensure arrival and departures each day are trouble free and easy. It would be easy to modernise this site with more gravel or by the use of a digger.

Lovely 5 night stay.

This was our first visit and it certainly will not be our last. The site impressed us from the entrance and beyond. It was well maintained, tidy and we received a warm welcome from all staff. The surroundings were tranquil, peaceful and relaxing. Our Greyhounds were delighted to find an unexpected enclosed dog run and made good use of it throughout our stay. We thoroughly recommend this site.
