Good site but pitches are not level.

The Eden Valley lies to the south of Carlisle so is well situated for visits to Hadrianā€™s Wall and the Lake District. The Valley itself is rural with nearby Armathwaite village a must for evening river walks and two attractive pubs. The site is secluded with many enormous trees that once were part of the gardens to Englethwaite Hall. There are several clearings and wide lawns give a feeling of spaciousness. The pitches were well spaced but not level. Nowadays many new sites have level pitches and some even use block paving to ensure arrival and departures each day are trouble free and easy. It would be easy to modernise this site with more gravel or by the use of a digger.

Lovely 5 night stay.

This was our first visit and it certainly will not be our last. The site impressed us from the entrance and beyond. It was well maintained, tidy and we received a warm welcome from all staff. The surroundings were tranquil, peaceful and relaxing. Our Greyhounds were delighted to find an unexpected enclosed dog run and made good use of it throughout our stay. We thoroughly recommend this site.

Always fantastic stay

We use this site as a stop off for every trip. Nicest wardens ever, and every year I can say this. The site is immaculate always. The additional of the fairy glen walk to the dog exercise area is delightful and funny. Access to the lake area for walking the dogs is great, they love it and recognise the gates and pull to be let off. Can recommend without hesitation!

First trip up to Scotland

We stopped here on route to a 14 day round trip to Scotland from the Midlands. This was a great site to stop at and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a relief couple and after we set up we found out our electricity cable that west Midlands caravans gave us when we bought the van last September was too small. Luckily the shop had a 25m cable they could sell me. Before they found it they had called the local halford's a few miles away to see if they had one. This site has no toilet block however we knew that. The site is very clean and well kept.

Flying visit.

This year after so many false starts Englethwaite Hall was to be and overnight stop over on our way too and from Scotland. As always the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site was clean and tidy and felt very safe. We would have preferred a longer stay but it was not to be. Our fifth time here and we will be back for that longer stay soon.

First visit of 2021

We have just spent 5 lovely nights at Englethwaite Hall and enjoyed every minute. First day of new season, (12th of April). The check-in system was easy and stress free, and knowing which pitch you had beforehand was brilliant, and I think should be adopted for all sites if possible. No room to wait for more than one van, and avoids the problem of driving past a likely pitch and having to go around again. Will be returning.

Beautiful

First time at this site. It will not be our last. We stopped here on our way back from Scotland but we will be back to stay here longer as a holiday destination in its own right. The sight was well kept and clean. Wardens were helpful and friendly

Peaceful and scenic.

We have just returned from a wonderful 5 night stay. What a real gem of a site. The wardens were brilliant, very welcoming and working hard keeping the site tidy. The peace and tranquillity made for a perfect stay and the bird life was exceptional. Please do not even consider building a toilet block, it would completely ruin the site, but more serviced pitches would be a real advantage.. More serviced pitches should be a priority for all sites especially during the present crisis to help social distancing and keep people safe. The site and wardens are a real credit for the club. Itā€™s Good for stop over or staying longer to explore the area

A great site if you are just stopping for the night or going to stay longer to explore, there is a great dog walking area through the forest and on site. TV reception on our plot was poor (picture kept breaking up). Small village down the road called Armathwaite has 2 pubs we tried the dukes and found the food and service was very good and some good walks from the village.
