lovely break

WE found this a very nice site clean well run just a small problem. The bas4es were being re covered with chips but i felt they were large chips which would be a problem to disable people and families with chldren because of they do not roll down flat.

Excellent Site

Stayed here for 3 nights in February. Arrived in the rain but the lady welcomed us with a smile and was very pleasant. We picked a pitch which was unfortunatley next to the road which we didn't realise at the time but this was no great problem neither was the many planes landing at the local airport. The toilets were a little dated but nevertheless immaculately clean on every visit. This site is ideally located to visit the City Center or take a leisurely stroll along the Firth of Forth. Definately look forward to returning to this site in the future

Lovely Xmas & New Year Break

We enjoyed our stay over the festive period, despite the wet and windy weather experienced by all. The site is great for commuting to City Centre as we used the local service buses as good value for money compared with private taxi buses. Site is clean and tidy and toilet block clean and warm. One recommendation is that the new foot path from Marine Drive to bus stop on Silverknowes (no 16) was very wet due to surface water, also dark, and lighting would be a bonus for winter hours. Other than that, very relaxing break on a good site.

Stayed 3 nights over New Year

We stayed for the first time this new year. The site was clean and tidy, the showers and toilets immaculate.  Maybe clearer explanation of where to park van in relation to pitch marker would be good, we arrived in the dark and had to move about 1 metre to the right on the first morning but not a problem we were happy to do this. Handy to catch service buses into Edinburgh city centre but we did use the private minibus to go into the city on the first morning, very friendly driver.  All in all a very enjoyable break would recommend this site.

Lovely site on the banks of the Forth

Visited here for the first time over the New Year.    We were made to feel welcome and advised to choose a pitch a call back for toilet/barrier key.   Not having been before we were unsure where to pitch and unwittingly pitched a bit too near the road, so noise was a little bit of an issue as was the flight path to the nearby airport.     Over New Year the site offered a shuttle service for the torchlight procession and also for NYE celebrations at £10 each return.  We didn't make use of this or the normal shuttle service at £6 each return but it was nice the offer was there.     We went into Edinburgh twice by the local bus - a short walk from the site to the bus stop.  The number 27 or the number 16 took you straight to Princes St and ran every 10 minutes.  The number 16 was slightly longer but more scenic route via Leith where you could alight for Britannia if you wished.  The prices were ideal - £1.50 for any single journey or £4 for a day rover.    So £6 return for the two of us - bargain.  The local pub - a Toby carvery was within walking distance, although uphill.   We had hot drinks there one day in their comfortable lounge and a full carvery meal on New Years Day - all very reasonable.     Nearby are cycle routes and walk along the shoreline, either towards Leith or to Crammond which is a couple of miles and a further mile onto the island at low tide.  The site has good facilities, the pitches are large, reasonably spaced and obviously flat and hardstanding.  There is a play area and a dog walk, although most owners seemed to walk past our van everyday!    The showers were hot and nice, the facilities block warm and very clean.  No litter at all and well maintained by the wardens, although felt a bit sorry for them clearing up after selfish vanners who don't sort the recycling properly and/or leave non recyclable waste near the bins.   It just adds to the wardens work.   Have booked again for New Year 2016 - can't wait.

Excellent

Our first visit, stayed over the new year period, pretty sure we will return. Good location , not as difficult to navigate to as i first thought. Site clean and well maintained, wardens....first class, a credit to the club, helpful, polite, made us feel at home, nothing too much trouble on what was a very busy time.even put drinks and snacks on in the office for new years eve, nice touch, well done. Mini bus from site into city on new years eve, perfect £10 each return, cheaper than a taxi for a mile in our home town !!used the second toilet block, the one  that shut on 3rd January, a little dated but clean and did the job. 10/10 from us

Fitted the bill really well.

At the last minute (York was under water) we opted to visit Edinburgh on 28th December for a couple of days. The site had a few spaces left, not many, and the very helpful staff sorted us out. Having been out for a good few days in a small camper we were in need of hot showers and a washing machine. Both were well provided for. The site is "in" Edinburgh but actually quite some distance from the bits you probably want to see however, there is a shuttle taxi service which was superb in both service & price. We had a great time whilst here. Only down sides are the road running alongside the site, not a particularly busy one and it was on the airport flight path. There was noise from both but it didn't intrude much. Would definitely use it again.

New Years Eve

Just back from a short break to welcome in the new year in this amazing city. The site was almost full as you might expect at this time of year. We have been here before and always found it to be wonderful, I think special praise for the winter wardens is called for they laid on a wonderful reception on new years eve for everyone it was really appreciated by everyone who attended, so well done to them. We shall return.

Just what we needed

This was my first ever touring caravan holiday. Wow, I am spoilt when comparing with others. The staff were superb, so helpful and kind. We had a serviced pitch, have since had non serviced and it's great not to have to fill the Aquaroll all the time. The toilet block was superb, nice hot showers, lovely warm floor, plenty loos and hand basins.  Security was excellent and the dog walk is fun, look for the Haggis conservation area!? The site is opposite a long flight of steps down to a superb coastline walk. N.B. Steps a bit slippy in the wet but walk great for humans and dogs. The public bus stop wasn't right outside the site but a mini bus from the site will take you into central Edinburgh.  The pitches were completely flat and spacious. The info said to have a double male connector for the water supply, we had one in the kit for serviced pitches including the ball valve (think that's the right term). So no worries there. We will be going back very shortly. Loved it!
