Excellent pitch

Very impressed with this site. The pitches are of substantial size and the site facilities are beautifully kept. You are able to hear the A1 traffic however after being there longer than a day it becomes unnoticeable. The park for the kids is lovely and the short trip into the stunning city of Durham is worth it. Thank you for our stay we'll see you in December.

Convenient

I used the site to visit family in hospital, so basically used the site for sleeping. I selected the site because of its convenient location to the A1 Motorway so i could get to my destination away from the site quicker. The disadvantage of this was the constant background noise from the motorway, but at night ear plugs came to the rescue. The wardens are brilliant and very hard working keeping the site and members best interests to heart. I did manage one morning to walk from the site into Durham, 5.5 miles along the river, and it was brilliant, a walk i would thouroughly recommend. I will be using this site again in the near future.

Perfect site for visiting Beamish.

We spent 2 nights here in order to visit Beamish living museum. It was an easy, straightforward trip to and from site and museum.Although positioned close to the motorway, the traffic sounds weren't a problem. All facilities were well cared for by very friendly wardens. We used a very local taxi company to take us out to eat each evening and were delighted with our driver and the food on both occasions. We'd definitely like to return here and reacquaint ourselves with Durham.

Great little site.

Stayed here the w/e 21/10 to 24/10, the site is ideally situated just off the A1 and we heard very little if no noise from the traffic on the A1. The only noise we heard was from a whinging person in plot 11 who was rude to my wife and if she had of told me before we got home I would have had my own words with the JOBSWORTH. Why do some people think they own the site when they go away, they have to spoil things. All in all a lovely wk end and the Pub/Restaurant just down the rd on the industrial estate is great for food, think its called the Broomside Park, certainly recommend the food and service. Thanks to the Wardens for making us welcome and will be visiting again in the New Yr. Thank you.

RELAXING BREAK

A few peoples reviews complained about the noise from the A1 but this was no different than being by the seaside with crashing waves,it did not bother us at all.The wardens were so friendly and helpful. The dog walk on site is not very long in the wood, its just so your dog can do his/hers business.theres a nice walk along the river though.all in all We did not want to come home as it was the best site we have been to yet.The toilet/shower block was immaculate and we were so pleased the showers were not on timers and the water was red hot.The pitches are really good sizes and the site is so clean.cant wait to go back.

Handy for Durham

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of September. Some road noise from the nearby A1. Site and facilities were very clean and tidy. We were in a motorhome so walked to the nearby Park & Ride (about 15 mins) to go into Durham - lovely Cathedral. Nice walk (about 30 mins) from the site down to the river with our dog

Thankful rest

We stopped over on this site travelling from north Scotland to southern England. A review that it was noisy with the nearby M1 was putting me off but how wrong was I. It did have a noise no different to waves rolling by the sea. In fact we all said wish we had longer here as a great gem of a site with a nice dog walk and great sized pitches. Toilet blocks faultless. Highly recommend when need that rest between driving days

Our second caravan venture

We stayed at Durham Grange on the 23rd Sept for two nights , only our second outing in our recently purchased caravan. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the facilities were of excellent standard. We would like to thank the gentleman from Norfolk for his invaluable help and advice on getting us into our pitch safely. We obviously looked liked novices ( lol ). Will definitely be booking this site again , only downside was slight traffic noise .
