tranquillity accessed

We arrived for our four night stay and the site was lovely,  right next to the beach with easy access. There were lots of local things to see and we ran out of time so booked another two nights. The wardens were very helpful and friendly although they were having difficulties getting site users to slow down to the 5mph on site. We didn't want to leave and we would like to return when we can, as there is so much more to see.

Hardworking wardens

We were so lucky to have fabulous weather for our weeks stay, unfortunately it brought with it a lot of over 'nighters' and people turning up on spec. The poor wardens were run off their feet working all hours, yet they always had a smile and a kind word and kept the site scrupulously clean and tidy. How they managed all this with little or no breaks is amazing. A site which really could do with a deputy. Security was a bit of an issue as anyone can get in the gate at night. I was also accosted outside the toilet block by a woman pretending to have forgotten her key. Fortunately I know how to manage people like her, but could be disconcerting for others. People can access the site from the beach and the car park, which again is an extra strain on the wardens. Some of the behaviour I witnessed from other site users towards the wardens was so rude, yet they still remained so calm and nice. The rules of the club and the sighting of caravans, campers and tents are made for the safety of everyone. I was sad to see so may trying to abuse these rules and the poor wardens having to repeat themselves. In all a wonderful site, loads of local attractions to visit if that is your thing, or even a ferry trip to one of the isles. The locals are very friendly and will go out of their way to help people. If it wasn't so far away I'd go back tomorrow, I didn't want to leave.

2016 and no WIFI included in pitch fees???

Absolutely lovely site for beach however  I recently paid £25 for annual CC WIFI and so far I have used it once.  This site like many does not have wifi (yes I dont lie in 2016!!). People need wifi to check emails and plan their trips. All sites should have this facility included in pitch fees. We were however advised Tesco and the local pub has WIFI... I dont pay CC subsciption to the local pub and Tesco......

Peace and tranqulity "Yes Please"

Just visited here on a 3 night stop off during our tour around the scottish highlands. It was amazing, so peaceful and the kids loved it, the beach is a 2 minute stroll away and the sunset was amazing. we took our chairs onto the beach to watch the sunset which the girls (6 & 13) loved. The local hotel served food and drink (all welcome) and the food was delicious. The wardens as you would expect were knowledgeable about the area but attentive as well, nothing was a problem and if there was a problem the wardens had a solution. I would highly recommend this site especially to anyone seeking peace and tranquility away from the big city hustle and bustle.

Great Location

Perfect position close to the beach with direct access to the beach. Good facilities that are well maintained by the wardens. Only stayed one night, but would definitely recommend for families and couples

Delicious Dunnet

What a gem of a site!  We were welcomed by the very friendly and helpful wardens at the start of our 6 night stay on this lovely site.  All of the facilities were of the high standard that members come to expect of a club site. There is direct access to a wide, sandy beach which is wonderful for dogs as well as families!  The ground is mostly flat but some undulations mean that minimal levelling may be required on some pitches. The road which runs adjacent to the site is a main 'A' road but like many such roads in the area, is quiet and unobtrusive. The amazing sunsets over Dunnet Head were a bonus during our stay! The site is on the North500 Route and enabled us to drive solo along the parts that are unsuitable for caravans west towards Durness (some parts of the route are also unsuitable for motorhomes).  The area can be very windy at times but you are on the very northern most point of the British Isles here so not to be unexpected. John O'Groats is just a few miles away from where you can take the amazing 'Maxi Tour' to the Orkney Islands. (There is also dog day care available nearby which was excellent for our 2 dogs while we made the trip to Orkney).  Overall, we would highly recommend this site for visiting all that magical Caithness and the surrounding area has to offer.

What a view

Great site for the north coast of Scotland.  Beautiful beach and great sunsets, we could have been anywhere in the world but actually were in Bonny Scotland at its best!!   Nice clean facilities and very helpful and friendly wardens. Although the road was close it didn't disturb us at all. We would recommend this site.

Top of The World

Just returned from a marathon trip had the good fortune to stay on this site for only two nights, but the staff were very friendly and informative. With the site been remote and relatively small the shop was well stock and prices compared well with the local shops. The facilities were clean well presented and the pitches all relatively flat no need for levelling devices here. Top marks for our visit shame about the weather.

Not so solitary

We stayed here after touring up the west coast and highlands wanting to visit John O Groats. On arrival were given a cheerful reception by the relief warden. Toilet facilities very clean but were quite small (3 shower cubicles in mens) for the number of pitches on the site. Site is adjacent a lovely beach and next to public car park for the beach. The site is bordered on one side by the road to John O Groats with only a fence separating, so not private and lots of passing traffic when we visited in August. It is a good base for visiting John O Groats, Castle of Mey, Orkney, etc. but maybe not the place for those seeking solitude and tranquility.
