I booked on the Tuesday for the following Friday for a week. Fingers crossed that we had made a good choice as a week away is pretty precious! Arrived on site. We were so not disappointed! The people running the site and I mean everyone, were warm and friendly and very helpful. After the second day of going to the campsite shop the lady already knew his name! And wow! the views! this is one of the most beautiful sites we have ever stayed on, the views were stunning. You could even see Wales on a good day. Our pitch was perfect, looking right over all the countryside, cliffs and sea. We were right next to the dog walk, which was definetly the best dog walk we have found on a site before. Even a nice little area you can throw the balls for your dogs. I feel I am gushing, but to find such a beautiful site was so good. You have the professionalism and cleanliness of a CAMC without all the rules and regulations and someone mowing the grass around you 24/7. We will definetly be going back to this site and to beautiful North Devon again. Thank you to everyone who made our week stay so perfect.
Beautiful Sea Views
This site is very open and exposed with little in the way of trees or hedging. However it has great views on a clear day of the sea. We walked across the fields to Mortehoe and to Woolacombe and caught the bus back, which stops at the site entrance. Very useful!
We had gluten free pizza and chips from the shop which we pre-ordered - great to have the gluten free option. Very friendly lady in the shop and it was well organised for social distancing.
Our pitch was spacious and fairly level. However we were on the edge of the CC site and hadn't appreciated before we arrived that the site also has a large area for the Camping and Caravan Club adjoining it. The CC site has 45 pitches but the site is much larger than that implies. There are 2 facilities blocks which were clean, but we weren't really clear if we were only meant to use one of them (one was in the other area).
We enjoyed our visit here very much.
Very clean and well managed.
Visited Damage Barton for a week in early September. First impressions were very positive.
The site is spotlessly clean, well organised and laid out with spacious, (some more so than others), pitches which are a mixture of hard standing, (gravel - bring rock pegs!) and grass. Some pitches are fully serviced. TV reception was good. The site has an excellent shop which also does take away pizzas in the evenings. An excellent mobile fish and chip shop calls on a Monday evening but don’t leave it too late to get your order in as this can be very popular!
The facilities; wash rooms, dishwashing and elsan areas followed suit and were kept spotless. There is also a good dog walk around the edge of the site with dog waste bins aplenty and there are good walks to the coastal path, Mortehoe and Lee directly from the site. For eating out we found Miss Fea’s Cafe, (aka the Smugglers Rest), at Mortehoe and the Rock Inn at Georgeham, both excellent.
The site is large, much larger than we would normally go to, but very quiet. It is situated on a cliff top and has great views out to sea but it is at the mercy of the weather which can, and did, change very quickly. The wind, even on a nice day, can be very strong and sea mists can roll in, in an instant. Unfortunately, of our 7 day stay, we only had 2 nice days and they were for less than 7 hours on each day. The rest of the week, the wind blew and the rain poured whilst at home our neighbours were basking in 21degs!
That said, the site cannot control the weather so that aside I would give it 10/10 especially if large, managed sites are your thing.
Brilliant Site
This is our 2nd visit to the site and again didn't disappoint us. Pitches are huge and well spaced, we had a hardstanding pitch. We arrived for 2 weeks on 4th July, day lockdown was lifted. Everything was well organised and felt really safe even though the site was becoming more full as the week went on.The site facilities are excellent and cleaned daily. The staff and wardens do an amazing job as always. We used the site to walk and cycle around north Devon and still we found something new around every corner. Cycled the Tarka trail, used the bike rack to get to different locations to start at so covered a really good stretch of it. We would highly recommend this site for relaxation, walking or cycling and wouldn't hesitate to use it again.
Another Amazing Visit
We have stayed here a few times over the last few years and it’s always good.
We booked in anticipation that the sites would be open again and we were lucky.
All pitches have a sea view, it is hilly and beware of the the wind but it is truly stunning
I cannot thank the staff enough they tend the pitches and work hard all day whilst being very friendly.
COVID- we have been to a few sites since they opened but this was the best - facilities were spotless being sanitised between cleans, paper towels to dry hands and sanitiser points inside and outside the facilities
Thank you for making our stay such a good one I am sure we will be back again

Quality site
Beautiful site. Extremely well maintained pitches and shared areas.
Shower blocks immaculate. Good hot showers. Excellent Covid 19 regulations in place.
Location superb but this site isn't for the faint hearted. The whole area is hilly with steep approaches on foot from the beach and the stunning village of Mortehoe. That said views and walks are spectacular. Woolacoombe golf club is right next door.
Ideally placed site for visiting North Devon.
1st visit to this Beautiful site
Lovely site, with amazing views.
The toilet/shower blocks were spotless and pitches very spacious, felt very safe with the measures put in place due to Covid 19.
Friendly team, great shop & takeaway 6 days a week, pizzas were lovely.
Great place for costal walks with bus stop at entrance for trips into Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Mortehoe.
Great information for walks in the area with maps and information which was easy to follow (just remember how ever far you walk down, you have to come back up!)
Will definitely be a favourite of ours.
Damage Barton
A very nice site and very well maintained. A good walk to a small beach (dogs allowed) but very steep on the way back. Saunton Sands are about a 15 mins drive which is the best beach a dog could ever ask for. Don't forget your storm straps it can really blow up there !!
First visit after lockdown
A lovely site high up on the hills above Mortehoe. Everything was very clean and organised in accordance with Covid 19 rules. There is an excellent shop on site with take away meals available.
2nd visit in eight years
This was our second visit to this camp the last being in 2011and not a lot has changed still a brilliant well managed site. One thing that had changed was the shop operator. Last time it was a father and son set up and they made lovely pizzas to order. The shop is now run by a husband and wife set up with the husband doing the meals and his wife runs the shop. There is now a different specialty each night and very good they were the nights we indulged
