Lovely site - We'll definitely return

Crossways was a lovely site. We stayed for the half term week with two small children. Staying down in The Dell section of the site, it was lovely and sheltered and it felt like you were in a little glade of a forest. The compost loos were a revelation - I have only ever used the little compost loos in sheds so was delighted to find that these were really well ventilated and clean. The site is lovely and quiet, but for the train which hoots as it is so near to the level crossing. There were lovely touches - a wheelbarrow of herbs, colouring sheets for the kids. The warden was lovely too. In fact, everyone we met who looked after the site was super helpful and really welcoming.  In terms of location, we were happy to be close to Lulworth Cove and Castle, only a 15 minute drive. We made use of the pool and ski slope a couple miles down the road at Warmwell too.  We will definitely return. The only drawback, no barbecues.

Lovely quiet site but close to seaside town

This is a lovely site with plenty of choice of pitch within little woodland glades which gives it a smaller feel. The wildlife is wonderful, the Dawn Chorus outstanding when we visited in early June. Deer visit the site. The wardens here are really kind and helpful [not only to caravanners but to the birds..... many feeders around]. The site is very quiet at night with just a little road noise [not intrusive] during the day. The compost loos are fantastic and smell better than most conventional toilets. Both buses and train are a short walk from where you can visit Dorchester and Weymouth, both interesting places and Weymouth has a beautiful beaches. The RSPB reserve at Radipole is adjacent to the train station in Weymouth. The Frampton Arms pub is adjacent to the site and the meals very good plus dogs allowed in the bar. We had a lovely stay at this site and can thoroughly recommend it.

Peaceful

We stayed here for the bank holiday at the end of May, great site, very clean, nice setting with all the little areas set in amongst the woodland. Lots of wildlife roaming around. Nice little pub just outside the back gate by the train station, very nice food and friendly atmosphere. Good location for seeing some of the local attractions we had a visit to Monkey World and had a great day. The toilets may concern some but they are not smelly but to some they will take some getting use to. Wardens were as usual very helpful. Grat stay with some great weather....

Tranquility

We stayed for 3 nights midweek (Motorhome). The site is very peaceful and being midweek it was almost empty. Wardens are chatty and helpful. Most of the pitches are set on grass which do become waterlogged after heavy rainfall. I would imagine that trying to park a caravan on some of the pitches would be a challenge on wet grass because a lot of the pitches are very tightly grouped together in segments. The composting toilets are very clean and there is no smell. The wildlife is also very friendly and we were able to feed the deer peanuts from our hand. Moreton station has good links to the coast routes and Poole is about half an hour away, the train fare was £8 return. Buses are rural so don't expect frequent services. We hope to return to the site for another visit sometime soon.

Motorhome

We recently stayed here , a good position next to a train station for good access to other places but a bit disappointed with the wardens who told us we could not stay with friends who have caravans and were put on a ugly compound dedicated for Motorhomes. Looking around the site other Motorhomes were on and around the caravans ! Ps the grass was not damp

Relaxing stay

A lovely relaxing weekend was had by my husband, daughter and myself. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, lovely and quite with just the sound of birdsong and the occasional toot of the trains horn. The facilities were exceptionally clean and the staff, Perry and Anne Marie Robbins, and Rich and Jackie Lewis, were so friendly, helpful and always had a smile or a wave. My one complaint is we should have stayed longer.

Bank holiday weekend

We stayed for 3 nights with 3 other families and we had a lovely time. The wardens were very friendly and encouraged the children to enjoy themselves. We loved the way the site was set out. We felt very safe and were not overlooked by anybody. We made full use of the train service and had a great day in Weymouth.  We will definitely be returning.

A treat in the woods.

Lovely site with excellent local attractions. The wardens were absolutely lovely and very helpful before we arrived and when on site. Lovely walks for the dogs. The occasional train passing by added to the enjoyment of the site. Spotlessly clean and well maintained.

Latest visit

We have been visiting this site at Easter every year for 10 years. With vans sited in a number of small enclosures in the woods it is very quiet and peaceful - you soon get used to the trains! The Wardens were excellent and very helpful. The facilities are good and spotless but the shower could do with a bit more pressure. Great location for visiting the Dorset Coat and countryside

Lovely site

We love this site - small groups of caravans set amount the trees. We recently stayed and had an unfortunate incident where we lost the key to our land rover and had to arrange Green Flag recovery for our vehicle from Dorchester car park to the site. The wardens and their deputies were fabulous, letting us use their land like phone, getting information on their computer and being very supportive and helpful. The only thing that we didn't like was that there is no signal for our mobile phones. Wi fi access would be very useful.
