Relaxing stay

A lovely relaxing weekend was had by my husband, daughter and myself. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, lovely and quite with just the sound of birdsong and the occasional toot of the trains horn. The facilities were exceptionally clean and the staff, Perry and Anne Marie Robbins, and Rich and Jackie Lewis, were so friendly, helpful and always had a smile or a wave. My one complaint is we should have stayed longer.

Bank holiday weekend

We stayed for 3 nights with 3 other families and we had a lovely time. The wardens were very friendly and encouraged the children to enjoy themselves. We loved the way the site was set out. We felt very safe and were not overlooked by anybody. We made full use of the train service and had a great day in Weymouth.  We will definitely be returning.

A treat in the woods.

Lovely site with excellent local attractions. The wardens were absolutely lovely and very helpful before we arrived and when on site. Lovely walks for the dogs. The occasional train passing by added to the enjoyment of the site. Spotlessly clean and well maintained.

Latest visit

We have been visiting this site at Easter every year for 10 years. With vans sited in a number of small enclosures in the woods it is very quiet and peaceful - you soon get used to the trains! The Wardens were excellent and very helpful. The facilities are good and spotless but the shower could do with a bit more pressure. Great location for visiting the Dorset Coat and countryside

Lovely site

We love this site - small groups of caravans set amount the trees. We recently stayed and had an unfortunate incident where we lost the key to our land rover and had to arrange Green Flag recovery for our vehicle from Dorchester car park to the site. The wardens and their deputies were fabulous, letting us use their land like phone, getting information on their computer and being very supportive and helpful. The only thing that we didn't like was that there is no signal for our mobile phones. Wi fi access would be very useful.

Such a great site

We have visited this site 5 times, and will be making our 6th visit very soon. The layout means that there is not a vast field full of caravans, but little areas of a few together. The wild life is great (we have seen deer, squirrels, and a toad), the Wardens are so kind and helpful, and the new ones this year keep up the lovely standards. This is one of our most favourite sites, easily accessible, conveniently placed for attractions, and yet ideal for a tranquil day on site in the middle of the woods. We cannot praise this site highly enough.

Beat hunts on your doorstep

We travelled with our 3yr old son for a week stay over Easter, and would recommend this site. The site doesn't have a play park on site, (and the one mentioned in the information park really isn't to standard), however we had bear hunts on site and went out everyday on new routes..... We didn't find a bear, only a few deer :) The site is known for poor tv reception but this didn't effect us. We did find it annoying not having any 3G signal for planning our day out trips. There is an information office, however most attractions offer online discounts for advance booking, so we had to drive to the local coop for a reliable signal. I'd be willing to pay for site wifi access if it could be installed! The pitches are very small, this didn't effect us directly as we weren't using an awning, however neighbours were forced to park in front of their caravan simply because of the lack of space available for guideropes/cars. We would recommend visiting the tank museum (15/20mins away), the Dorset heavy horse centre (35mins away), and the Weymouth sealift centre (25mins by train-then 15min walk). Some review complain about noise but we didn't find this a problem. You can hear the train (it is right alongside the site), however when in our van the bird noise was louder! Staff were lovely and very welcoming. We have no complaints about the showers or toilets. Showers are 'old fashioned', but they worked and were clean so the decor didn't put us off. We'll definitely return next time we are in the area exploring.

We enjoyed our stay.

This is a nice site, well laid out although you do have to pick your spot carefully if you would like to see some sunshine as it's mainly beautiful woodland. it looks like it can get a bit wet at times, we turned up a week after the wet weather but it was drying out nicely so we had no problems. The staff are excellent, very helpful and have a good sense of humour. There is a really good local 2 mins walk away that does good food. Directly opposite this is the main railway line to Dorchester, Weymouth and Bournemouth so making a night out without the car very very easy. We met "Doris" the friendly deer and her fawn. Watch out for the tight corner when driving through the site about 3/4 of the way around, it can catch you out a bit the first time. We would definitely return and thanks again to all the staff.
