A wonderful experience

We found the site absolutely delightful. Its wooded character and the arrangement of secluded bays taking two or three vans offered both privacy and the ability to socialise at a personal level with the other campers. Ultimately a site is only as good as the wardens and assistants who run it and here the Club has struck gold. Perry and Marie and Fiona and Martin are clearly hard workers because the site and all facilities are immaculately maintained, but they still find time to chat to campers and offer advice on places to visit. Perry's handiwork, whether it's a tractor pulling logs (built with logs), a bird feeder in the shape of a castle flying the Club's logo or any of the other dozen or more features he has built add charm and a unique personal touch to the site. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Wish we had a few extra days

This is a fantastic site and I genuinely believe the staff are proud of it. We had a fantastic time and it is easy to get to many attractions in the area, the train station is very handy but not noisy. The site was clean and tidy with a unique charm. We will be back.

Lovely peaceful site

We have been before and always find it very peaceful as each group of caravans are in bays which makes it feel exclusive. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and the toilet blocks are environmentally friendly as they use composting loos which have no smell whatever, and the water is piping hot in the washing areas which are kept spotless. Also close proximity to trains is very useful. There is also a very well stocked Co-op about half a mile up the road. Also as already mentioned it is close to Monkey World well worth a visit and Bovington Tank Museum.

Quirky loos but brilliant

Had 5 nights here and loved it. Great location for Dorset sightseeing. Having a station so close was a bonus for us and made Dorchester and Weymouth into car free days. You need to book at the pub later in the week. We chose the hardstanding close to the storage area as it we could avoid the soggy grass after all the recent rain and to answer another reviewer I'd say that pointing heavy motorhomes away from a potential sinking seems like a good idea. Loos are quirky and completely odour free. We liked them. As the site is set in forest clearings a stroll round the site after dinner was a pleasant experience. All 4 wardens were approachable, friendly and helpful to us.

Excellent site with professional staff

Stayed for 8 nights in our caravan and joined by our 2 daughters in a tent and trailer tent for 2 nights. The wardens went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The site is incredibly clean and tidy in a secluded environment. The railway line at one end can be ignored after 36 hours. The one improvement for me would be to introduce WI-FI as I needed to have access for my work. Thank you for a great stay.

Good for Monkey World

Stayed here for 4 nights as wanted to visit Monkey World and the Tank Museum. Hunters Moon and Swanage were fully booked but managed to get on to this site. When we arrived we saw why. 2 pairs of wardens on this site-1 nice, 1 not so nice. Was told on arrival as it was due to rain and we were in a motor home (it never rained once in the 4 days we were on site) we were allocated a pitch on the hard standing part of the campsite. This 'hard standing' area was no more then a large car park with power stacks opposite the storage compound and felt isolated from the rest of the site. All the other motor homes had been shoved up there as well (none on any grass pitches) so got the impressions the wardens that checked us in do not like motor homes! Handy for Monkey World though.

what a wee gem

I can hardly add anything to the other reviews, but to add that they are spot on with their reviews, a wee cracker of the site, which during discussions with the wardens, I said was like one in jock land,  but couldn't remember the name,  discovered that it is in England shire site called kendal, two peas in a pod. As an ex squaddie an added bonus was that it is next to Bovington tank museum,  a cracking site and some tanks, I was like a dog with two what you mucall them. Well done to the wardens for a cracking stay which we extended as well.  The toilets were nae probs, but remember that you have to flush at the next site you visit, lesson learned. well done all

A Wonderfull Place

Wow What a wonderful site. Set amongst the woods in separate glades. ample pitch sizes. The reception and info room were all decked out with hanging baskets. Every where was so well cared for. We actually got to see the deer that roam the woods close up. We were booked in from the 3rd till the 12 of July but after a few days we were so happy there we extended to the 15th. We were in HIND Pasture which was close to the extensive dog walk and beyond that the quarry which made so little noise you could just dismiss it. Likewise the occasional hoot from a train Talk about back to nature it was lovely. we will return I am sure. The wardens Perry and Anne-Marie Robbins were great. Always busy but able to chat and make us feel at home. The assistant wardens Martin and Fiona Griffiths were really helpful, printing off directions and maps for us. Martin was specially helpful in looking at a problem with the fitting of a new awning We had bought during our stay which wasn't the best fit. Martins suggestions were very good and he even provided us with some strong clear plastic protection for our window from his own supplies. The guys that run this site are a credit to the Caravan Club.

Very nice site

What a cracking site. My only gripe would be that toilets and showers are at opposite ends of the site. Understandable seeing as the toilets have no flushing. Disagree with other reviewer that there is no privacy in toilets, there are walls and a door, what more do you need. Close to railway station so could leave motorhome on site, which we did and visited Poole.
