Lovely stay and felt very welcome

Stayed here with friends and had a great stay. Wardens really friendly with nice walks from site including to pub! Coniston lake a short walk away with easy paths alongside lake - one way to village and other through woods. Plan to return next year.

The best wet weekend

At short notice we looked for a site, near to home but with hardstanding due to the wet weather and more rain forecast. We booked two nights at Park Coppice, a site we hadn't visited in years but only an hour from home. We arrived on the one decent days in a long time and were greeted by the wonderful, friendly wardens. In the low season some areas are closed off, however there was plenty of choice of excellent pitches and we found a wonderful sheltered pitch. The site is brilliantly placed for walking - options of all levels either directly from site or a short drive away. We had two dogs with us, but one is recovering from surgery so we chose a gentle walk round Tarn Hows and a lakeside walk from the site - both were fantastic and ticked all our boxes. nearby is the Blue Bird cafe - down by the lake, rather than in the village. This had been recommended to us and did not disappoint. If you have a four pawed companion it is a must as the staff are such dog lovers and they made us feel so welcome despite having "soggy doggies!" We cannot thank the wardens enough for they unceasing pleasant nature and the hard work they put into looking after the site - no easy feat when it was raining so much. We will definitely be back and hopefully for longer!

Lovely stay in beautiful surroundings

Really beautiful site nested into the woodland near lake coniston. Staff were friendly, helpful, personable and had loads of suggestions for things to do. Sadly because of the bad weather and not alot of time left on our trip we only got to cycle to the village and have a walk along the lovely lakeside. But the staff suggested to me lots of ideas with great enthusiasm and a definite desire to return and do what we couldn't. Lovely traditional pub in town 'The Black Bull' which brews it's only beer and food looked great although we didn't eat. Fantastic views in the area also just really pretty. Facilities on site were spotless, well maintained and up to date. Showers were nice and hot and was lovely after a very chilly day. Would definitely return.

A hidden gem

We got the site as a last minute booking due to the site we were supposed to go to being flooded. We could not have been more pleased. We only had 3 nights here but it felt like we had stayed for a week when we left. Loved the ability to turn up after 10am this gave you almost an extra day. The site is large but well sectioned off with no pitch the same. We had pitch 115, close to the facilities and the Lake for husband and his paddleboard. We got the sun (when it was not raining) on our pitch which was nice and most pitches are lovely and big. We tried the onsite catering facility on our first night and the Pizza's were amazingly tasty, they must be good as the site has bins specially for the Pizza boxes near the service areas. A great site to walk up and over The Old Man of Coniston from, or to just walk or cycle to Coniston. We tried the boat from Coniston, sadly due to the high water level you could not hop on or off the boats as most Jetty's were flooded. The boat trip round the Lake was lovely and enjoyed by us and the dog and next time we want to try the steam boat. Its just a shame the Lake does not have a footpath all the way round like Derwent water but I still enjoyed walking round what I could with the dog while hubby boarded. We never got the chance to try out any local pubs but the Bluebird cafe at the boat launch did lovely food and ice cream, plus its dog friendly. If you like wooded sites that are very nature friendly with great staff and good facilities you'll love this. To us its one up from their lovely site in Borrowdale. Another on our list to return to.

What an amazing place

Stayed here for one night Sun 17th Sept 2023 in a motorhome. It was our first time in a motorhome and this was our first CAMC site we ever stayed at. Loved everything about it. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Loved the spaces between pitches and the freedom to choose our own pitch from those that were available. The toilet block was immaculately clean. It was a 1 minute bike ride to Coniston Water. Coniston village was a 5-10 minute ride away and had some lovely pubs. Would defo stay here again.

Great Location

A large, busy site but because of the way it is laid out, it always feels very peaceful. Site managers are super friendly and very helpful. Due to the topography of the site, no two pitches are the same but there is such a choice that you're sure to find something in the end. Great location for walkers, cyclists, paddle boarders - anyone who likes the outdoors. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

Late booking stay

We had booked another site, which turned out to not be suitable for us, so we tried to amend our booking to this site, the app wouldn’t let us, so we rocked up to the skate and the staff on site couldn’t be more helpful, they managed to amend our booking and the extra £7.50 we paid was well worth it 😂 Wow what a great site, location amazing and as mentioned above staff on site so helpful. We have booked again already for next year and can’t wait to be back 👍

Always Enjoy it Here

September 2023 Despite this being quite a large site the layout gives lots of smaller areas. Convenient for Coniston village. Understand that it is very wooded and if it rains it can be quite noisy on your unit roof. All the facilities are of the usual high standard and the wardens friendly and helpful. There is a problem from people driving too fast and ignoring the one way systems, especially near to the glamping pods, this applies to both car drivers and motor home users.

SEPTEMBER 2023

This site is a bit like Marmite - you either love it or hate it! We have been coming here for a few years and absolutely love it - the pitches are all different sizes and dotted through the woods. Facilities are clean and the wardens are very friendly. Coniston Inn has a fantastic bar and does beautiful food as does most of the pubs in the village - Torver also has the lovely Wilsons Pub which again does lovely food. Would highly recommend this site if you like somewhere less regimented than the usual sites.

Weekend away.

Stayed for a long weekend. I’m new to the motorhome life and this was the first time for just my dog and myself, so i made things as easy as possible!! I thought i’d done plenty of research and talked to people ‘in the know’, however, i wasn’t prepared for my fridge and plug sockets not to work. The staff at reception were really helpful and had a good idea of what the issue was. ‘Lee’ came to help and, having checked that everything else in my motorhome was fine, changed the EHU to a different mains socket as the one being used was faulty & kept tripping. Problem solved!! Lesson learnt!! The campsite is well maintained, clean & tidy. Coniston is only 20-40 minute walk away, depending on where you’re pitched & the route taken. (There is a bus service that passes the site, 2-3 times a day, Monday - Friday). The lake is close by and the chippy/pizza van, by reception, is a good alternative to cooking!! (Ear plugs may be needed on the nights when it’s raining heavily). Would i return to this campsite again?...yes i would!!!
