Great site with good transport links to central London as well as the surrounding countryside of Hertfordshire. Welwyn Garden City was the second 'purpose built' town and retains its the Garden City look. I stayed here to visit friends who recently moved there. Facilities as always were spotless and the wardens very pleasant. The site was busy but quiet during my stay.
Good site for visiting London
We stayed here to visit London for the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final at Wembley. The site was ideal as Hatfield railway station was about a mile away for trains and it took about 25 minutes to get to Kings Cross.
I have marked it down for families as there was no play area and also it was very noisy from the adjoining golf club on Saturday night. This may have been a one off and to be fair the noise stopped about midnight and it may not have been as bad on the rest of the pitches as our pitch was next to the golf club fence.
Nice site, fantastic wardens.
Spent 3 nights here, a little suburban oasis, great for visiting London. The site and facilities are really well kept. The wardens were really helpful and friendly and made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Good as a base
We use this site several times a year to visit our granddaughter, as their house is not big enough for us to stay at.
Handy for London's attractions
The site idea easy to get to, tucked away in a quiet area of the town.
It is well laid out with an immaculate toilet block. The wardens were very helpful with suggesting different options for getting to the bus and train stations.
Would definitely use again if visiting London.
Lovely Site
We have just returned from a last minute weekend at this site. The facilities are very clean and site is very well kept. Only thing missing from this site as a small family with children was a park, but the children were able to play on the grass area in the middle.

Very convenient and well kept
We stayed at Commons Wood because it was convenient both for visiting family in London and the beginning of our trek up the A1(M).
It is easy to find and has good access. The pitches are a good size and the site is well cared for with cut grass and trimmed hedges. The facilities block is immaculate and the friendly wardens can be seen to be working hard to achieve this. Found a lovely traditional pub in old Hatfield and there is a Tesco only minutes away. A little traffic noise, but not too intrusive. A minor snag. 0ur Truma water heater kept tripping the mains supply. (pitch 32).
Contacted Truma who advised "change the campsite". It worked!
Beautiful location
Close to major road links and to London- but tucked away off the "beaten track". Beautifully kept in every respect- very clean toilet block, nice laid out pitches, dog walk through lovely woods. A welcoming and friendly place.

Friendly and helpful wardens
Stayed here with 3 other couples and their caravans to go to the Hatfield House Battle Proms. Friendly and very helpful wardens, immaculate shower block and very tidy site. Our only slight complaint is that the shower heads are too close to the wall so it's difficult to wash your hair without banging your head on the pipes! Site is right opposite a large hospital but we didn't hear any noise at all. Definitely the most urban site we've ever been on but would come here again if visiting London.
Friendly
Having been here a few times we were not disappointed. Always found this a friendly site and no change there. Cycle rides around the lake, bus rides in to town. Cleanliness of facilities high and lawns a treat. Staff very pleasant too.
Even the minor disturbance of rebuilding of the adjacent hospital was no problem.
Thankyou Common Wood.
