Family friendly not tech friendly

I've now been to Clumber park a few times in the last year. It's fantastic for giving our kids the great outdoors as no phone signal still, wifi patchy (that's my only negative) very busy peak season, and super friendly wardens.  overall we ?? Clumber.

Clumber Park break

We arrived on Sunday 19th July at about 2pm & had a good choice of pitches, we stayed 5 nights departing the following Friday. There were a few children on site, the schools closed for summer the day we left site, people were arriving from 10am that day. We have been going to Clumber for 29 years & visit once or twice a year. It offers family & couples a wide choice of things to do / places to visit .  The wardens we're welcoming , friendly & helpful.  We agree with a previous review that the toilet block is looking "tired" but it offers everything you need & is clean. The shop run by the wardens provides the essentials that you may have forgot or run out of.  We did manage to get a wi-fi signal, on phone & iPad but no phone signal - no surprise there. Clumber offers all things to all people, couples or families , Lincoln & Nottingham are within 25 miles & if shopping is important Meadowhall is not to far

Another great stay here

Stayed over the weekend of 24-27th July 2015. This was our 3rd visit, we haven't run out of things to do locally as yet. We really can't understand any of the negative comments at all about wardens etc, we've always found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Yes, the toilet/shower facilities are just a little bit tired but are fine really. The only issue we have is security, the whole area has long been a target for casual thieving, and it really ought to be possible to make the site more secure without affecting it's attractiveness. Dogs aren't a problem by the way, though some owners might be.

Clumber Park visit

We stayed at Clumber Park fot 2 nights 21st and 22nd July. Contary to what a lot of other members have said I found the wardens to be cheerful and friendly, but then I don't think we broke any rules. lol. It is an ideal location for what we wanted which was cycling. Lots of good cycle paths through beautiful woodland. We put our bikes in the lock up overnight as advised. This is the only site I've been on where this has been necessary and it did make me feel a bit less safe than usual. The site itself is spacious and the pitches are a good size. We have a continental motorhome and usually park the other way round from uk vans so that our doors don't overlook. We explained this to the warden and they were fine with it. The shower block is a bit tired but clean. It is far from the worst I've come across. We didn't have children with us but the ones that were there seemed to be having a lot of fun. If I had any ctiticisms it would be that the site looked a bit scruffy. The grass could have done with strimming around the perimetre of the site although the hanging baskets and pots are lovely. And the lack of a phone signal and internet. Because of that it is unlikely we'll stay there again which is a shame. These days it is a must have. You need a very long coax cable for TV because you could be a long way from the electric point.

Fell foul of the wardens

Met my sister in law and her husband at visitor reception, and invited them back to the cara for a cup of tea. Within 30 seconds of both cars being parked by the caravan, a warden insisted that one car be moved. This was despite both adjacent pitches being empty, so fire safety wasn't compromised. A bit officious I thought, even though he was perfectly correct. Also more exit signs are required as the large site has a complex one way system

dog walkers heaven

A dog walkers paradise with the site surrounded by woodland walks and leafy lanes. It is clean and provides plenty of room for each unit. away from it all break, but you do need to get in your car or take your motor home off site for pubs and restaurants or shops if that is what you want.  Ideal though to chill and enjoy the surroundings. Facilities fine though got no tv or mobile reception but will definitely return for a short stay.

An enjoyable weekend

We went with three grandchildren who enjoyed the play area and the safe environment of the site . There were a few gripes mainly that the shower areas are in need of updating but they were very clean. The female wardens could have been more welcoming on arrival but I am aware they were busy with new arrivals. The site is quiet and has spacious plots but it is isolated and you need to drive to restaurants or pubs the only walks are woodland walks , i am aware that some people want this but it is nice to have somewhere to walk to .All in all we would go again but only for a weekend stay .

Excellent site

We like this site for its accessibity to miles and miles of cycle tracks. The pitches are large, mosquitos can be a pain but that's not the sites fault. Well run, clean facilities. My only recommendation would be a site boundary to prevent none member access.

Friendly wardens

This is our local site being only 40 minutes away, and we do enjoy it.  The greatest improvement for us this year is the wardens.  They are much friendlier and more approachable. However, there is a but with this site.  The security is terrible and is becoming a real issue.  The site could also do with a make over, we feel it's getting rather old a tired.  Well and truly ready for some improvements in the wash and shower facilities.  Another issue for us is the mess and noise from dogs.  We find the dog owners that attend this site feel it's not their responsibility to clear up the mess left behind by their dogs.  Last year a dog was allowed to poo on our pitch and this weekend a dog pood next to the football pitch and the owner just left it.   Things that can be improved upon very easily

Beautiful Site but wardens let it down :(

We were a party of 3 caravans and wanted to be sited together.... Upon booking reception said this would not be possible but if arrived together we may be ok. We arrived together. First thing warden said on arrival was "you'll be lucky"... Our first impression!! In reception staff were very polite and confirmed that we should all get together as there was still 60 pitches free!!!! Grumpy warden sprang to mind! We did all get sited together. The park is beautiful, the pitches are large and the surroundings are just stunning. I didn't use the showers until the next morning, I was on my way when I got spotted by the cleaner, she saw I was holding my towel - "you'd better be quick we're cleaning in 5 minutes" was her response. Can't believe that the toilets/showers are actually 'shut' at what I would say is peak time in the morning. The two wardens that walked around site were not very friendly and needed to be more welcoming... Also when I was asking to stay later and pay for this on the day we was leaving the  lady said "if you'd read the leaflet you should've come sooner" no need for it I thought!! Very old school, rules, regs etc.... Concentrate on being more welcoming as it's the staff that let the stunning site down.. Everything else is fab. Lovely park for the kids, cycling routes are of plenty. Will return for definate. But hopefully the staff won't put us in detention or make us do lines for not reading the leaflet!!!
