Have just returned from our third visit to Clumber Park this year and for the third time the wi-fi we bought through the Club was not working on site yet again. Â It's about time the Club sorted this out!
Yet Another Peaceful Visit
Okay so we only have to travel about thirty minutes to get here, but once you are here you could be almost anywhere, surrounded by one of the great English Forrests.
We have all come to expect a certain standard within the Caravan Club, clean & good quality toilet blocks with friendly hard working staff and Clumber Park does not disappoint.
Our kids are grown and left so it is only ourselves and friends with a dog each I would add. The dogs love the woodland areas and being able to run and play safely certainly contributes to our enjoyment. Clumber is still the children safe environment that we remember and it's great to see the other children making friends and running free, but some parental control should still be excercised because on one evening during the darkness around ten pm some of the kids were still running wild around the caravans and a clump of trees just behind us. They were having fun I know and I wouldn't dream of saying anything and no doubt their parents were not aware what they were up to but the time alone should have been enough to call them in.
What more can I say, we love it and we love the area and yes we may well be biased but we shall be back in the near future especially if we get snow this winter! The area takes on a whole different feel in the snow, the woods become even more magical so why not give it a try and when you get back in crank up the heat and get yourself a hot drink then sit back and look out of the Windows.
Put off by the risks and security issues
Stayed one night October 2015. Very convenient for breaking our journey just off the A1. Excellent value with mid week discount.
Usual predictably excellent staff and facilities though the toilet block is now quite dated but still very well maintained.
Haven't been for a few years but there is even more emphasis on theft than I remembered and I found this time it was quite off putting. Fortunately on this trip we did not have anything worth pinching to leave outside the van overnight, but having to make extra sure your bikes are secured in a special facility and having to remember that the loos are security locked and take your key, does detract a bit from the tranquility and otherwise deceptively peaceful ambience.
Add to this the mysterious illness experienced by some dogs who have visited at this time of year, and you do not have a perfect recipe for a good holiday for us. So it remains a stop over option only, sadly

A Return Visit
Spent last weekend at Clumber Park CC having last attended nearly two years ago. We arrived late Friday afternoon and I was surprised to a small queue of caravans all waiting at Reception. I immediately thought it must have been a bank holiday, which clearly it wasn't. Thought we might be in for a long wait but that wasn't the case. The site was pretty full at this point as we went around the site twice looking for a suitable pitch. We did find one that we liked and in no time the grandkids were outside and playing. When we last attended we were victims of bike crime. My bike was stolen form the top of the car and my daughters wheels were stolen as her bike couldn't be removed. We weren't the only victims either. This time we used one of the two secure cycle storage buildings. I still used a lock and cable though, just in case. Strongly suggest you use these lock ups and don't take the risk of leaving them anywhere else. I did notice that someone had had a bike stolen as recent as July. I would not let the above put anyone off attending this site as its in one of the best settings I have ever been time. I'm biased as Clumber Park is a special place for me and I go there regular with my bike and go on the bike trails around the place. To stay at the CC site occassionaly is the icing on the cake. We all had a great time, weather was brilliant on the Saturday and came good on late Sunday morning. Site well looked after. Toilets look a little bit tired but still more than serviceble. Plenty to do in the Park itself and lots of places to visit nearby. Yes, as other people have commented including myself it does get very busy on a weekend but each time we've been it doesn't really feel like it. You can still relax, unwind and feel as though you are away from it all. No issues with the bikes this time. Grandkids love this place as well so we'll be sure to return.

Can't Phone Home!
Stopped for Friday and Saturday nights in September. Site approached by a very potholed road that rattled the china, and was very busy. Queued for 45 minutes to get some very good fish and chips ( that ran out just after me - get there early!). Absolutley no mobile signal, and slow internet, could only get a few TV channels. BUT, the site is surrounded by Clumber Park, and it is lovely!
A peaceful site
We stayed for two nights in September 2015. Situated in Clumber Park itself the site was peaceful and beautifully landscaped with lots of trees. You can just walk out of the site straight into woodland. Would recommend taking bicycles as that makes it much easier to get around as the park is massive. Site is clean, wardens are very friendly and helpful. Only downside, which we didn't mind, is the lack of signal for TV and phone. You will need a booster cable for TV but you can buy one on site. Altogether a lovely stay and we fully intend to return.
Just The Job
Second time for us here.Have to say we were not disappointed! Local to home (10 miles) facilities great and kept very clean. The kids on site and there was a lot of them being the weekend were no bother at all.The site was full, the staff were excellent and very helpful.we will definitely be back again. For us it was 'just the job' to be able to relax and enjoy the fresh air without travelling miles to do it
Not What It Used To Be
Have been visiting this site on many occasions since the late 1970's. We stayed for 7 nights at the beginning of September for the first time in ten years and were disappointed at the careworn appearance of the site. The wardens obviously work hard but their efforts don't seem to make much difference. The showers in particular are long overdue for refurbishment. The approach road needs resurfacing, being full of pot holes which if not attended to will only get worse.
We booked to avoid school holidays but forgot about the popularity of the site for families at the weekend. The excellent play area did not seem as popular to the many children as playing around the toilet blocks or riding the wrong way round the site roads often accompanied by adults!
Will I go again? Perhaps, but only Monday to Friday. The location and normal peace and quiet will probably tempt me!
Clumber
Friendly staff, great for cycling, lots of flat routes that our 7yr old son and 8yr old daughter coped with easily. Only down side was having to use keys to access toilet/shower blocks. Advised to use lock ups for cycles too. Site seems secure enough but is more accessible to non residents than other caravan club sites. Shall definitely return.
