Clumber Park

Friendly spotlessly clean busy for the time of year but mainly our age group (60 ish) only 15 miles from home but we could have travelled 200 miles and it would not have been any better, thanks to all concerned

Peace at last

Having battled down the A1 it was such a relief to drive through the archway welcoming you to Clumber Park.  The site is spacious set within the forest but not overly shaded. The facilities were up to the usual club standards and the motorhome service point convenient. Loads of cycle routes and footpaths throughout the forest and to the lake: such a restful spot. We were only there overnight but would certainly stay longer if we were in the area again: we didn't even have time to visit the National Trust attractions or Robin Hoods hidyhole!

Peace and quiet.

We were only 40 mins away from home, which felt an absolute world away. We were made very welcome by our wardens, and booked in easily.   This is a larger site which has two toilet/shower blocks which are clean and well kept. One side of the site has a children's playground, the other side was shadier and more quite, which was the side we chose.   From the site we walked and walked through the forest on various paths and tracks. This was so peaceful, we loved it. We will return soon.

Wonderful place!

We love it here for many reasons - it is within an hour's drive of home so really handy for a weekend away. We struggle to get any mobile phone signal on site which means that we can have a totally relaxing, stress free time! There are plenty of walks from the site and the surroundings are beautiful. We spent last weekend enjoying walks around the park and spending time relaxing outside our caravan, reading and drinking wine! When you go through the entrance barrier, the right hand side of the park tends to be a little quieter as the play area is on the left through the entrance. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities have always been very clean and tidy whenever we have visited. This is a great site and we can thoroughly recommend it.

Access Denied

My wife and I have stayed at Clumber park several times but on Sunday 30th Aug 15 there was a 999 Emergency Services Special Day taking place and when we arrived at the park entrance gates (the way instructed to do so in club book and on online the road was coned off. We followed the diversion sign only to be told we could not enter that way and to go back to roundabout and turn left. Unfortunately there were no other signs as to how to enter park. The area is known for poor mobile phone signal but we fortunately found a layby where we could telephone site for instructions as to what to do. Luckily their instructions were excellent and we eventually found our way into the park and then onto site. Apparently the National Trust had hired out part of the park for the 999 event and although they had told the wardens of the event happening they had omitted to say access entrance would have several no entry cones across it. If you are travelling to the site on a weekend I suggest you check with the site that no event is taking place which will restrict your entrance, or if there is, how you enter the park. We were not the only ones who had this problem. Not a good start to a holiday when you have been travelling for 3 hours. When the park is being used for something else perhaps a sign at the park entrance saying "access for caravans only" would be a good idea in the future. Clumber Park is an excellent site and one we will go back to again.

Some People!

Stayed at Clumber for 2nd time over the bank holiday for 4 nights. site was full, wardens very helpful. ONLY negative was a member (yes a member!) left a nasty deposit in one of the showers for the wardens to clean up and also someone filled a toilet with that much loo paper it overflowed. Common members (the wardens said all were members that weekend) give the rest of us and particularly the wardens a break, don't make a mess where you shouldn't and if you do clean it up! Treat the wardens with respect and they will respect us back!

First CCS for many years

Very good site in outstanding parkland. Good for walkers, dogs and families. Unfortunately there were three toilets out of order in one of the two facility blocks which wasn't good. As others have mentioned Wifi isn't good and phone reception virtually non-existant. T/V needs a long lead to hook up to the site booster but is good with this. We liked the site, the wardens were all friendly and as it is fairly local we shall make more visits.

Clumber Park Site

Excellent friendly site, clean and tidy and fairly spacious. First time on a CC club site so hope the others are of a similar quality. Don't bother signing up for WIFI as its pants. Also take a lengthy TV aerial cable as signal is rubbish due to the trees (can be bought from the club shop for £15 if you forget). Dog walkers beware - its great for them but both our two picked up ticks in the park for the first time ever (anywhere) and they were never off the lead!

First class site

We certainly stumbled on a lovely site for our first experience in our recently purchased caravan. The location is beautiful backing onto lovely woodland, with plenty of walk ways for the dog The staff were helpful, and friendly We were so impressed we have booked to go again in 3 weeks time.
