First time here

This was our first visit in our new caravan. The wardens very very friendly and on checking in warned us about bike thefts - which we appreciated, even though we do not have bikes, and we think it is a good idea to make people aware. We found this site great for us with our dogs as there are so many walks close to the park. A visit to the lake is a must, we walked from the park and all around it. This is a large site and we went during the school hols, but noise was not an issue for us. We would definatley return.

late night noise

standards are slipping, it seems a number of cc members do not believe club rules apply to them. another stay at this great site has been spoiled by late night drink fuelled noise. we were kept awake by two vans until the early hours and I witnessed one elderly chap almost in tears as his wife who was unwell was becoming quite distressed but he felt too scared to approach these people. night patrols and interventions need to be stepped up.

Another great stay

We've stayed at Clumber Park many times and just love the location and the daily walk around the lake (around 6-7 miles if you walk from the campsite and all the way around the lake, though there are lots of options if you don't want to walk as far).  Our dogs absolutely love the walks there. We'd recommend visiting the NT Tea Room by the walled kitchen garden (open weekends and holiday periods I believe) as it's a little more relaxed and less busy than the cafe in the centre.  There's lots of outdoor seating if you have dogs; the centrally located cafe now has a small room which is dog friendly which is new since the last visit. The walled garden also features the world's second largest selection of Rhubarb varieties (!) We stayed over the Easter period so the site was full and I pity the wardens who had to clean up some of the mess left in the toilets, it always seems to be the same at Clumber when it's busy.  You get a wide variety of humanity staying there so suffice to say we enjoyed being able to retreat to the vast expanse of the park! There's a WiFi signal onsite but there appears to be very little bandwidth to the site so if you do succeed in logging in (which takes perseverance) then don't expect to be able to do much browsing.  The CC website and Met Office were both just about usable and don't need a login to work.  The phone signal at the site and around the park is limited and intermittent so don't rely on it to make arrangements if you have friends visiting! It was a shame to hear that bike thefts are still happening.

Easter stay

Another great stay at this lovely site, we have been many times here and enjoy the site and clumber park, great place for bike riding and walks. The site is close to home but yet felt we were miles away. No signal for phones or wifi but sometimes that can be a blessing!! New wardens on site which has made a massive difference in a good way. They are very friendly. I for one was glad to see new wardens as although I love the site we were giving it one last try as we love the site and was not going to let the old wardens ruin this. Enjoyed it so much we have booked to stay for 3 weeks in the 6 weeks holidays and hopefully wifi will be working. The bike shed is fantastic but get your bikes in asap to secure a place. Bike theft is a problem but you are told On arrival to use the bike shed which I noticed has cameras inside. A new camera system seems to have been put in place at the barriers so maybe they are trying to up security. The park on site is fantastic for the kids I hardly saw mine as they made new friends and played out quite a lot. We only booked for 5 nights but ended up staying 11. Fish and chip van comes on a Friday which makes a lovely change from the bbqs and washing up. The site is a big site and even when full does not feel overcrowded. Looking forward to going again soon.

Another Enjoyable Visit to Clumber Park

Clumber Park is no stranger to us and we had another enjoyable 2-night stay, before carrying on to York. Site is big and was close to capacity, but didn't feel over full as the pitches are varied and spacious. Great location for walking and biking. Clumber Park itself is one of the best National Trust parks we have been to. The only niggle was the quality of the WIFI, which was non existent where we were pitched, but I don't think this was confined to us, but was more of a site wide problem. The USP of this site is the bike storage shed, which we were encouraged to use as bike theft has been a problem. Will never tire of coming here.

Easter at Clumber Park

This was our third trip to Clumber Park, we really love this site for the cycling you can do off road. Check was busy when we arrived on the Thursday but to the credit of the staff they worked thought this with a smile, we thought the staff very welcoming and friendly. The facilities are good and a great location for touring around North Notts and Clumber Park. If you do take your bikes use the bike shed to lock them up, but you do need to get then In Early to secure a place. There is no phone signal or Internet (summer this year for the Internet) which is the only disappointing thing about this site.

Easter break.

Just spent four nights at this site. Excellent facilities in a great location. Wardens were friendly and welcoming they also keep the site immaculate. It is however a tad expensive, in fact it is the most expensive caravan club site I have stayed on. Unfortunately they have a huge problem with theft at this site and the Caravan next to us had their two bicycles stolen, despite them being chained up, which makes you feel nervous, as you have to question how safe it is to stay there. Feel it might be an idea to employ security or install cameras. Until they do I do not think I will be returning to this site in the future.

Easter 2016 at Clumber

We are caravanners and had decided to make our first full weekend break of 2016 at Clumber Park that was our first visit to this site. The directions were very good although the Sat Nav did its job and as were wee approaching from the A1 there were no problems. We had the customary hearty greetings from the wardens at reception before selecting a nice pitch with hard standing. The site is on the large side but is fringed with mature trees and nicely laid out. There is a popular children's play area that acted like a magnet to the younger set and if like us you are old codgers then you will know to give the play area a bit of space. The early spring weather can always be variable but mostly screened by the surrounding trees it is also fairly sheltered. You will see lots of wild life in this former deer park without having to look too hard and it is an ideal centre for cyclists and walkers with literally miles of tracks to roam but beware of traffic using the main routes through the park. There are warning notices about ensuring your bikes are locked up when not in use and we suspected that there may have been problems with petty theft. The familiar site security barriers inhibit unauthorised vehicular traffic but there are access points provided for dog walkers at the perimeter fence and these could be used for unauthorised access at any time. The main thing that lets this site down is the sanitation blocks which although they are of course regularly cleaned are now looking very tired and both blocks are in need of a makeover. The shower cubicles are small and there are not as many as one would like in such a large site which of course can lead to queuing at peak times. In addition the recycling provision is limited allowing only for the recycling of glass ware and nothing can be separated out by way of card or paper so it all goes into mixed waste and presumably thence into landfill which is at deference to modern thinking. Overall we had a satisfying stay at Clumber Park for three nights but it needs a bit of work to bring it up to the standards one may find on club sites elsewhere.

Great Area for Exploring

This was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed with our week stay. We did have noise from another caravan where they had decided to have a party on the Saturday night, music from their van went on until midnight, very thoughtless members. The Wifi is not good but we did manage to get emails, it is a bit intermittent though. There are some great places to visit in the area and some lovely walks from the site. The toilets are well maintained by the Wardens but some club members leave the showers in a dirty state after use, they seem to not bother to use the new type mop that is provided. I do feel that the old type mop and bucket would be better as you could then clean the mud from the floors, the new ones just smear the floor.
