I use Clumber quite often throughout the year and really like the place. Most, but not all of the wardens have been great. Two things that do stick out though are, 1, the gravel on the hardstandings has over time spread all over the road way and looks really untidy. A good brush would soon sort it and it would look a lot better. The second is the shower curtains. This looks to be general across the club, but they are too short. They allow spray to bounce up on to the dressing area so when you have finished showering you have nowhere dry to stand.
Booked a long weekend before the bad weather sets in. Been many times before as it's not far for us and lots to do. Arrived on Thursday and everything great as usual but this changed on the Saturday when the shower block looked like a bomb had hit it - toilet paper everywhere, water all over the floor and clothes drying (and dripping) on the radiators - all done by some young girls. Don't know where the parents were! Wardens soon cleaned up thankfully. Only other beef was that my husband needed the loo urgently one day, waited until the prescribed time after cleaning but was sent away by the wardens as they gruffly told him they had been late starting as someone was in the shower, not his fault and he was very uncomfortable, to say the least, for the following half hour or so. Apart from that, a pretty good weekend, just what we needed.
Booked this as a last minute November getaway whilst the weather still looked good! Arrived Friday Evening & the wardens were fairly pleasant. Having read previous reviews we did choose to leave our adult cycles at home & kept my sons locked away in the motorhome garage - which he made full use of over the weekend along with the park, which we managed to pitch next to. The weather was kind so we had a great time wandering (or cycling for my son) round Clumber Park - lots to see and do. We found the facilities perfectly adequate, yes they could have been cleaner but this is more to do with the weather and time of year, and a couple of people who're not sure how to clean up after themselves, than the wardens cleaning abilities. All in all we had a great weekend and there is still plenty for us to do around Clumber Park so we will most likely be back ... next year now though!!!
Had a wonderful 4 night break over the October half term at Clumber Park. Timed this well as there was the Around the World Firework display on the Saturday night to start the holiday with a bang, likewise the weather was on our side, which was lucky as we were on a grass pitch. The site itself was great, our daughter spending most of her time in the park with other kids. Reason for 4 stars for location, peace & quiet was that the park is not far from the A614 and you could hear traffic noise early in the morning. Overall a very good site, especially if you enjoy cycling. Agree that the shower blocks are showing their age but they were immaculate.
Clumber park is one of our favourite sites and we spend around 14 nights per year on site, its in a great location with plenty to do regardless of the weather.
the site has a great atmosphere especially at this time of year. There are two Marstons carvery / pubs near bye one in Worksop (Lock keepers Arms) and the other at Ollerton both sells great food at reasonable prices and only a short drive from the site. Rufford country park and Robin Hood visitors centre are a must see regardless of your age. We have been visiting this site for nearly 10 years and the site is always well kept and clean however the toilet/shower blocks are now looking a little passed there sell by date and in need of a refurbishment however the wardens do a good job in keeping then clean and functional.
It started badly by getting our booking wrong and then it took an age to sort it out! The site is good for families with plenty of room for kids to run about, but in this day and age is it not possible to sort out the phone signal and if they can't do that make the wi fi free whilst on site. Phones are a curse at times but also a necessity these days.
First weekend as a caravan club member and first visit to this site. Wardens not overly helpful, vague instructions, guests not following instructions and facilities dated and not particularly clean. This could all be as it was half term. Would like to say I will try again but will have to save up first as feel it's overpriced.
After staying st this fab site we found the wardens unapproachable and very unhelpful. They would be better suited at a prison. They act as if they are doing us the "customer" a favour. We pay very good money to stay on these regimented sites who hold the upper hand due to the fantastic location. Come on caravan club we are customer let's see some customer service from your wardens.
Great traffic free cycle routes and walks straight from the site. Lovely trail down to the national trust visitors centre where we enjoyed the adventure playground, cafe and walks around the lake. Managed to get wifi despite sign stating it was not unavailable? Shame there is not a curfew or suggested quiet after time. Whilst I appreciate it was half term and I have children myself, I felt that children running, scooting and cycling around the site after 10pm was a little inconsiderate and at times intimidating. That said it is still one of my favourite sites and I will be back next year.
